The hardest part about real life vs gaming is actually feeling the weight transfer in the car. It often causes you to over react because you FEEL a "big" movement although in reality it isn't that big

Great video! I've never done drifting IRL but I struggle with the exact same things in the sim that you did in real life. I find linking larger high speed turns much more difficult than tighter low speed stuff.

That montage in the end was incredibly epic, and it was rly satisfying to watch you pull off the link!! i was reminded of that one time i learned to do an around the world trick when i was learning to do football freestyling, it took a lot of attempts until i could finally do it, initially i thought i'm never gonna be able to do it but when i pulled it off, i thought all the failed attempts were worth it..

God every single person I've ever met from Poland has been funnier than hell, and you're certainly no exception (although we haven't met); but man, you're great. This is my first video of yours I've seen and every element down from editing, comedy, camerawork, just the overall cinematography is astounding for something like this. Clutch kick and power. Best beggining instructions you could give. Learn to not fear the car nor the mistakes. Get oast that barrier and it becomes alot more natural

gotta yank the handbrake hard bro. if your yanking it and it isnt locking up, bleed the lines and if it has a reservoir for the handbrake, make sure to bleed that too.

10:56 in rwd car, pulling handbrake stops rear wheels...if you don't push the clutch, it will also stop the engine, thus when you handbrake without hitting clutch you're fighting to stop the engine too not just the tires..most video games/racing sims don't simulate this or generally automatically virtually hit the clutch for you... Put the handbrake on and try to start in first gear, you can't (unless the brake slips) as you engage the clutch, engine rpms will drop and eventually it stalls. Nothing changes that situation just because you're trying to go sideways in a corner. If your car is in gear and the clutch is engaged (engaged means foot off pedal) then your wheels are spinning if your engine is spinning, if you want to lock the rear wheels briefly for drifting then you need to break that connection by pressing the clutch (or being in neutral). Front wheel drive cars don't have this issue as the handbrake stops the rear wheels, so you can spin the front tires all day long with the handbrake on, but drifting fwd isn't really a thing (though it is possible). AWD cars are the same as RWD in this case, except depending on the rear and center differentials type and setup, even with the clutch disengaged, you may be trying to stop all 4 wheels, though with open rear diff abd/or viscous center, it's less likely, some AWD rally cars with electronically controlled differentials can disengage the center differential when the handbrake is pulled to essentially make the car fwd when it's pulled to help this. Also full drift cars will disengage or slip the clutch automatically when the handbrake is pulled, plus it's often pulled very briefly, enough so that even if the drivetrain was locked that rotational momentum would stop the engine from stalling. But most drifters don't use it except for maybe correction and this is partly why, not only are you stopping the wheels but you're applying and removing torque and managing engine rpms at the same time, basically trying to not do a clutch kick (unless that's also your intention) but still allowing the rear wheels to lock.. proper steering, weight transfer and the odd clutch kick should do everything anyone needs in most rwd cars for drifting other than tires, lsd/locked diff and maybe some extra steering angle if you want to really get sideways. Leave the handbrake for parking and fwd cars, or master the clutchwork needed to do it or modify the car to do it for you But yeah, that's why when you pull the handbrake you aren't drifting or locking the wheels, you're fighting the engine. Tap the clutch at the same time you quickly yank the handbrake and they will lock.

Love the video ahaha. I was interested because I used to do a bit of drifting in FH4 (I know it's acrade and not sim) with a steering wheel and that gave me a rough idea on the concept. One day, on a rainy day (irl), I sent my car too fast through a bend and began to drift. I managed to control it after going left right a few times. I genuinely think I wouldn't have been able to do it if I hadn't practised drifting in Forza.

That’s awesome, I just started driving manual IRL in my partners car and watching you play had actually helped in some ways with seeing how you use your feet in other videos

I found that Assetto Corsa helped me much more with drifting than beamng. The FFB feels way closer to real life. BeamNG has helped me understand the suspension setup/alignment tho. Sad part is that you have to modify the jbeam if you really want to properly set up the suspension in beamng. Right now im also looking into changing the tire physics because it feels a little bit off in Beam.

Final compilation was dope! Good job mate! Let us know how do you find BeamNG vs AssetoCorsa or other sims vs driftin in RL, which one feels like the closest thing. Thanks for the video

People always say that AC is the most real but I feel like a lot of modded cars people use for drifting are built more for easy drifting and getting doors than actually simulating a realistic experience. I feel like BeamNG does a much better job of making me feel like I'm in an actual car. That being said my irl drift experience was rather short lived. Street drifting a bmw e36 as a complete beginner probably wasn't my smartest move and after a while I ended up rolling the car 😅

I'd say more like getting yourself familiar with the car, the g-force, the feel of tyres, the sense of speed, the real life experience of a real car on the road (vs simulation) plus having the instructor or someone to guide you I think the risk is for people who drive in simulation and immediately go 'violence' mode on his/her first try to drift; it could end up in serious accident; It's important to feel the car, the tyres, the speed, and so much more which you don't feel in simulation; and there are no restart in real life.

Okay I found the video very entertaining, but that ending montage with the long sequence of match cuts????!!! WHAT WAS THAT?! Thats something I might expect from a top tier professional broadcast promotional material or something, not just a fun ending to a 20 minute youtube video. I think the experience of feeling the car and really putting yourself sideways at high speed in a very heavy object, a car, makes a BeamNG only player much less hesitant to drive like they would in the simulator. CarMighty's throttle inputs and steering inputs were limited at the start of his run until he got over his initial hesitation, at which point he made the connection between the experience of driving this real object with people in it to his experience in BeamNG. That's just something a simulator can't do, and that's the reason why real drifting and videogame drifting will never be the same.

Well done man. That's example it; the less power, the more aggressive body language, and the more power, the more finesse. If anyone tried to push my 1000hp car like that, it would be unmanageable/impossible to drive. It can break so easily, it would be more what you are used to in the sim.

I think his car was too weak for what he was expecting, lower horsepower cars in a sense take more skill to drift if you ask me, there’s a middle ground where it’s easier the more power, then it gets out of hand again in the highest peaks of power

for a first day drifting an only having a game reference where the car usually always feels the same with IRL little things even fixing something will throw of that original feel that you were use to so there is always a find the sweet spot every time you get in the car. overall great first IRL test run, Im getting myself into drifting in assetto if it were me IRL drifting would take more then 4 runs to connect the full track
