This formal debate between Dr. Bahnsen and atheist lawyer (former ACLU), Edward Tabash, at the University of California (Davis) in 1993, is a great follow-up to the Bahnsen-Stein debate. Witness again how an atheist fails to wrestle with fundamental philosophical issues.

God gave concrete evidence through the resurrection and the Pharisees of Jesus' day still rejected Him. Physical evidence is not enough for those who love their sin and "freedom" from accountability by God.
@dutchchatham1

No. I don't love my sin. I want to be held accountable for my actions, and I am not convinced that the resurrection happened, nor do I believe a deity exists.

@@dutchchatham1 Your argument doesn't negate my statement. At the root of unbelief is a love for sin and freedom from accountability. The heart is also deceptive above all things, so you may believe you don't love your sin, but you really do. You say you don't believe God exists; so you must therefore believe in the scientifically and logically impossible; namely, that matter came from non-matter, and metaphysical laws (such as math and logic) came from nothing themselves. It's blind faith. Which is a deception itself. So you are blinded on two fronts: on the nature of reality (God exists and He's established certain laws based off His own nature, such as logic), and the nature of sin (that it blinds the heart, deceiving one to believe they don't love their sin). You seem to recognize you have sin (i.e., you've done immoral things), but on atheism you have no logical account for morality. Objective morality only makes sense if God established right and wrong based upon His own character and goodness. So you must appeal to the truth of God's existence and His moral standards in order to admit the reality of morality; thus betraying that deep down you know the truth that God does exist but you suppress it in unrighteousness (consider Romans 1:18). In John 9 Jesus healed a man blind from birth and gave him physical sight, and as a result the blind man recognized Jesus as the Messiah. He was physically blind, but not spiritually blind. In contrast, the Pharisees reacted to the healing by questioning the blind man, even going so far as to refuse to believe he was actually born blind. The difference between the two groups is profound. The blind man could not see, yet could see spiritually. The Pharisees could see perfectly well physically, but were spiritually blind. The difference? One's heart was humble and the others' were prideful. One knew he wasn't well; the others, thinking they were well, were actually gravely sick. The point is the condition of your heart will determine if you ever accept what it true, or if you continue to reject it.

@@larrysnellings7992 did you choose presuppositionalism because of past trauma where you were bullied? Or do you suffer from narcissism or sociopathy? I've been studying presuppositionalism for some time and I'm fascinated by the psychology behind people who would choose to employ such a vapid, malicious approach to discourse. I mean. It's not convincing. It's intended to shut the mouth of the non-believer. It never defends itself. It relies on wild assertions, rejects all questions, it insulates itself from any criticism. There are two phrases that I like to use to describe presuppositionalism: "Since I'm right, you can't be." And "Unless you agree with me, you're not allowed to disagree with me." Presuppositionalism really is a clever pile of rhetorical excrement, but I think it speaks volumes about the person who chooses it. Thanks. I appreciate your help.

I wouldn't dare to dignify presuppositionalism like that. I just want to know why you chose such a vapid, circular approach. I'm trying to figure out the psychology behind presuppositionalism. So what is it about you that finds such a ridiculous tactic attractive?

Because we don't find it plain, we're not wicked and we do understand. We don't believe god exists, we're not convinced of the truth of the Bible and therefore don't accept that the Christian god is the necessary precondition for intelligibility.

which version of the christian god? Chrsitians themselves can't agree whose god exists.

There is One God. Any "christian" that worships a god not found on the pages of Scripture is a christian in name only. The God of the bible is the only God. Outside of that God, any other god is the worship of oneself. A god made in their own image.

@@joshhigdon4951 Josh, unsurprisingly, every single christian claims that their god is biblical aka "on the pages of scripture" and claims everyone' else's god isn't, with no evidence at all. @@joshhigdon4951 Taht doesn't work since the gods of various religions all contradict each other. It is a typical chritsian lie to claim that all gods are theirs, in their greed. I don't know much about Bahnsen, but why did he lie? Tabash certainly suggested he didn't like the guy's religion or his god, but that's not all he did. And then Bahnsen refused to engage any points raised? That was silly stuff. Presup garbage gets tiring to listen to. "well, I'm saying it so it must be true" is about all they have.

God is a safety blanket? That couldn't be further from the truth for believers. It would be much safer and relaxing to believe that death brings oblivion instead of judgment. Living a life of faith is incredibly difficult, specially when you're surrounded by such simple minded and debased people. To believe God loves the wicked scoffers just as much as he loves his faithful is not easy to understand. To know that God is unchanging no matter how much we wish to change him or fail to understand his plans brings no blanket of security. To know that no matter what we do, without truly believing in the salvation christ bought for us will bring eternal separation and damnation from God is terrifying. Ive experienced and witnessed the worst suffering humanity can create and in that suffering and destruction I found the truth and love of Jesus Christ. Ill pray that he will reveal his truth and love to you. If you ever believe, your eyes will be opened as if you were being born for the first time. Everything will immediately fall into line and make sense to you.

@@MegaLoucon no I don't fear death. In fact I embrace it because I know what it brings for me. I know my faith in Christ has bought me eternal life in his presence. Most of my family is also saved so I know they'll be there too. For the ones that aren't saved, it makes me sad here but, my love for christ is greater then my love for them. Iam sanguine with the reality that some will not be with me. All I can do is provide them with the truth its up to them to accept it or not. Our spiritual and eternal forms are of a much higher dimension and design of our fallen, flesh, earthly forms. Such negative emotions will not be experienced in the heavenly kingdom.
