Does God Need Me to Pray for What I Need? 

I’m disabled and living on a fixed income, God makes sure all my basic needs are met. God is wonderful!❤❤😊😊

Imagine going to church and Father Mike is the Priest there. That would be phenomenal.

I was having such a difficult time today and I finally let it all go, cried, and surrendered all my worries to God. Then I felt numb...and finally, at peace. Thank you God, I know I dont deserve your blessings but THANK YOU.

From what I have experienced it is both an individuals actions and prayer. I was recently in a abusive situation with nowhere else to live and I took the risk of just running away and living in a hospital to ask for help.luckily, the people there moved me to a different place. I was attending Mass at the same time praying while all this happened. I was glad to escape an evil environment in search of good godly people to help me. So that is why I say it takes both prayer and actions to have your needs fulfilled.

I will say I pray all the time but i have various health problems and bad mental health issues too but when I was at my very rock bottom I prayed and I heard indistinguishably “I’ll never give u something u can’t handle” and to this day i swear it was god

I have a rare form of cancer that is often lumped into the terminal bunch. Since I was diagnosed a year ago God has been there. His graces always overflowing and no matter how much I ask for less they never stop coming.

I've learned some things while praying to God. He never gives you what you want but rather what you need from Him. And He will give you what you need from Him when you're asking on the behalf of someone else. For example asking God for a new truck He's not going to give you what you want. But asking Him to earn enough money to get a new truck to get you to and from your job in order to provide for your wife and children He's going to help you out because that is a need. Also for example a loved one is sick and dying and you ask Him to help them and they died anyway. He did help them by ending their suffering and hopefully also helped them prepare themselves for death. He gives people what they need from Him not what they want. Life is about hardships and suffering with a few moments of happiness which is why those moments are precious and why they are fleeting. Which is why people should show kindness and charity towards each other because life is difficult.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us -1 John 5:14🙏✌🤟

oh, thank you a lot for this video, very helpful… amazing this video popped up so in time for me… i am being Protestant, feeling right now as God is calling me to move to Catholic or Prthodox church. today as I was praying the rosary, a thought came to me to pray one station for my need, but then I caught myself on the reflection “maybe it is too selfish, as you know everything, my Lord, you will provide as I put your Kingdom first…” the catholics and orthodox christians seem to me to be more sacrificial and putting other first…. I still shared it with God though tried not to think about my need in the prayer… and then, this video…. about two “yes”… I have never seen it from this side…beautiful vulnerability…. thank you a lot!… God bless

I asked God to let my children have a closer relationship with their grandparents because they lived so far away. God in his infinite wisdom allowed me to have stage four breast cancer at the age of 38 with four small children all boys, ages , 9, 7, 5, and 3. It was the best gift that God could’ve ever given me. I had to trust in him completely statistics in 1995 for a stage, four breast cancer patient whose cancer has metastasized to the spine and the liver was bleak at best long-term survival rate of six months I was paralyzed, trying to make a decision to do I does chemotherapy etc. etc. etc., or just as the doctor said the medicine to keep me comfortable, and by Christmas I would be gone. God help me every step of the way I had to turn my cancer diagnosis and treatment over to Him. Never again was my outlook on the glory of God and the beauty of sunrises sunsets, skipping down the sidewalk with my son, being able to teach them how to ride a bike, being able to change diapers and do dishes and love it thanking God every minute.

I feel this. After my obligatory prayer recitals I usually just "rap" with the Lord for about 15 minutes and open my heart. It is very cathartic, like therapy. Although I have tried not to ask that much for myself but instead spread the prayers out for others. If you dont fully trust the Lord it sort of defeats the purpose of prayers

I am hoping by coming before the Lord in adoration, I will learn to be patient with Him and myself, and just wait for His revelation to me. Thank you, Fr Mike, for all of your very good talks they are so enlightening. God Bless. Claire.

God knows what we want, but sometimes we dont really know what we want until we say it out loud. Sometimes we need to repeat it, not because God doesnt hear us, but because some of us lose our focus. Prayer can really help get our minds set up right . Or atleast it does for me.

Thank you for this, Father. I am very reluctant to ask my Lord for what I want ("Thy will be done"). It feels selfish, and then I have guilt. I go with trusting Him (He knows what I need/want). This is excellent. I can pray more confidently now. This is more or less how I've been paying, but have been feeling what's the use of telling him my needs since I know his will be done. It is a great act of humility to ask for your needs.

Showtimes what we want is obvious, like healing from cancer. Oftentimes, however, we have so many issues it is hard to tell which one is the most urgent or serious. I say this ias a mother, wife, and grandmother. So many lives I care deeply for, with different needs and demands. I ask Mother Mary to dispose of my prayers as she seems fit because she knows better than me. She knows what I want for each one of my children and grandchildren at this moment, and she knows my happiness is in them, and only she knows what is the most prevalent and beneficial thing in the present for a better future. I cannot see the future. I pray for Faith, Hope, and Charity. I ask the Holy Spirit for Wisdom and Courage. Jesus, I trust in you.

I always pray for the world, what's happening in my local are and the world, thank god for what hes done, pray for those close to me and if I have something on my mind like my vocation, or illness or a troubling event in my life I open myself to God and ask for help, I never expect because my will is not always aligned with Gods will and always trust that no matter what its the right thing. I always feel that prayer is a conversation with my beat friend, my father, someone who I'm closer with than anyone else, so why wouldn't I ask for help, because even if God already knows, I know from my experiences with close friends and family, to say it out loud can be a great healer in itself, because you take your worry and express it and put it out to pasture to share, to take it from my focal worry, to focus on other things, so by asking God for help, I take it out of myself and through Gods help I start to see solutions and paths that when it's all your focused on you cant see.

Oh, this talk really hit me in the heart, Father. Healing and ProvidenceI… I am one who draws a blank when asked what I want and I have trust issues, yet I am full of yearnings. When I say a prayer for instance, to wonderful Saint Padre Pio or St. Jude that says “state your intention here” I sometimes say please read my heart. But I understand what you are saying that it is important to verbalize it because it humbles me as I am asking for what I want. Maybe I can pray for that: the ability to trust.

This is the question I made myself for years. Glad to see you discussing the topic, I always saw myself as a person who feared to pray to not look selfish and greedy. It's a stupid paranoia, i know, but I'm only human after all.

Thank you, Fr. Mike and Thank You, Father in Heaven, for this message which answered a deep and abiding question in my heart and just when I needed to hear it. Thanks be to God.

I know of a couple who had two sons; the one developed bone cancer and died as a teenage. They grieved terribly but felt that God would not do anything to their other son. That He took the one son from them but still gave them another son to have and to love and enjoy. They were confident and trusted with faith in the Lord. Within 5 years of the death of the first son, the second son died in a head on collision which was not his fault. The father nearly lost his mind over it. I myself have been struggling with an emotional illness for 44 years and at times it’s gotten so bad I can’t function and wish I was never born. Years of therapy and medication haven’t done much. And you’re telling me these things are God’s love? God’s caring? I wanted o get married in my mid twenties and I did everything to find someone suitable for me. Oddly enough, the Catholic men dated treated me the worst. Finally after 20 years I found my wonderful husband who is not Catholic and I fear for his soul because he doesn’t believe in Jesus. I was almost 50 years old when I got married; I suffered many disappointments and heartbreaks over those years and my prayers seemed to fall on deaf ears. And ironically, my husband has stage 3 kidney disease and was diagnosed prior to my meeting him. So not only did I have to wait all my life to get married, and not be able to conceive at such an old age, but God couldn’t even give me a healthy husband after all I went through…..but this is God’s love and God’s caring??? What sins did I commit to be condemned to these things in my life because punishment is the only answer in my opinion. I’ve prayed, attended Mass, pleaded with God. Whatever happened to miracles?? Is that something He only did 2000 years ago? So we have no hope of a miracle in our lives I guess, but I still continue praying for them. Maybe I should give up. I’ve thought about that family who lost both sons several times over the years and can’t help but think why was that necessary?? To take both of their sons from them?? And these were not bad people. I hate to hear you speak sometimes Fr Mike for you just make me feel worse than I already do. God’s love and God’s caring?? No, you’re wrong. Why can’t you say something to give people hope instead of just further despair? As I lie here in bed taking pills to escape reality….

I finished reading the book called, "Stop Spending Strategies to Transform Wasteful Habits Start MAnaging" which was written by Tanya Menon and LEigh Thompson. Now I am going to read the book called "Atlas of the HEart Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experiences" written by Brene Brown. While trying to navigate well during my now very complicated set of human relationships.

I think another thing we suffer as humans is not feeling grateful for the needs that are already met. 🎉 I for one want to pray for my budding freelance career as a animator/illustrator, I want to pray for a partner, I want pray for my family, friends, I want to pray that one day, I get to retire and do whatever I want (like watch these videos all day) and do some service work…soup kitchen maybe…idk 😅 I also have want to pray for and wish good in everybody in this broken world. Hello Father Mike, I was born in the 50's and I had a wonderful childhood, big Catholic family, lots of brothers and sisters, loving parents and every Christmas was so wonderful, the best times of my life. Mom and dad are gone now, my twin brother was murdered, my family has sadly slipped away and communication is somewhat rare. I life alone and every Christmas is just sad and depressing, how I wish things were different but every year is worse, I'm losing purpose to push on, I feel my health failing and how I wish things had ended up differently and it's so difficult to see people and families together celebrating this joyous season. Life is tough and how I wish things has ended up differently.

I want only you Lord.

Yes! Most definitely YES!! I've been through a lot in my 60 years and looking back, He has ALWAYS provided what I needed to get through some really difficult times. What I want is up to me to achieve. I've reached the point of realizing that all of my difficulties and struggles in life have actually been blessings from God! Those difficulties and struggles have caused me to turn to God, to turn deeper into my prayer life, deeper into my faith and strengthened me. Anything that causes one to turn to their faith and prayers, no matter how difficult and rough life becomes is a blessing!!
