since blizzard only wants short term profits, and doesnt care about loyality; there is no reason for them to ban bots becuase they will lose money, even if they lose your loyalty 2 years from now, theyd prefer to make money from bots.
@@Davidgopaint They have lost my loyalty for it, in fact. I never like the thought of paying a monthly sub for a game they seem to care so little about, and every bot I see, I just get more annoyed. It's not the only reason I find myself quitting and staying away for months or years at a time, but it is one of them. I agree about the profits and have also long thought that it demonstrates the problem with having publicly traded corporations managing video games. Their interests don't ultimately align with those of players. You kind of see the same problem in other industries, such as cinema, but it's really bad in gaming when they ignore a glaring issue like this while simultaneously trying to "turn players into payers" in various ways, most notably microtransactions.
@@deliciousfirstsip That would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater, though. Azamous recently put out a video where he imagined a GM spotting and banning bots, and that and maybe some better detection software to improve automation is all it would take. They are usually not hard to identify, given how they usually have nonsense names, are the same class and go to the same farming spots, and of course move around and fight in the same robotic ways. I'd have A.I. flag suspect characters and a GM or dedicated human bot hunter check it out. Since they're usually Chinese and even have Chinese pet names on their hunters as well, I'd think that would be something they could use to flag them pretty quickly as well. So much more could be done.
The thing I HATE the most about petris is how toxic people are with them because they're an eject button. My buddie lost his first 60 war in BRD because some bozo pulled the grim patrons. The second it happened the a dps petri'ed and the rest of the group did as well, my buddy didn't have one so he died. Thing is he tanked the mobs for a solid 15 seconds or so solo, this group had 2 mages who could have EASILY aoe'ed the group down. But because of the safe eject button no one fought.
Not being able to repair gear would just make me miserable because I would know whatever gear I get is gonna get fucked so what’s the point of getting bf excited about it, each time will be bittersweet
The idea would be to use gear that you don't mind breaking in between the fights that you actually need your blues/epics for. BiS would no longer be as linear as it currently is.
could engineer an electric pulse to go off directly out of your headphones to... turn you off.. and make a little program to trigger the electric pulse exclusively if the player expires in game. wouldn't be difficult at all. the debuff thing though could be interesting.
Petri can seem kind of cheesy sometimes, but It's not always used to ghetto hearth, and it's honestly the biggest line of defence against griefers. Just the fact that most people can petri late game stops 99% of griefers from even trying.
@@TheShamanSenatorSo is HC in general. It's not hard, aslong as you don't become too eager. Especially how it's been cheesed out, with a line of overleveled progressions, pots, elixirs etc... Like that was never the original idea of hardcore. And hardcore co-existed on regular realms, by simply using an addon. Which worked completely fine.
that's a pretty cool debuff idea, I always thought wow shouldn't let you fix your gear and they let someone that has blacksmithing be able to fix it for you or something. So you had to get the gear again or find someone that has BS, LW, or trailing to fix your gear.
From what I've seen most hardcore player's would benefit from a challenge where clicking an action button that has a keybinding causes the ability/item to fail and go on cooldown after consuming mana/rage/energy/charges.
Ascension WoW has been a big one with massive changes. (Iron Man mode and Hardcore mode with seasons) Been loving this and I've only been playing it for 2 weeks many different classes in classic. Haven't been really hanging out in end game TBC yet and WOTLK shortly releasing with more QoL and new Class updates. WoW HC Classic current And I say yes Hardcore does need a seasonal reset so freshen up the race again and make it a fun community again (and annoying for quests). If you have a world first title those achievements and rewards are still kept on reset but the characters are set back at lvl 1, and you don't have to remake them with ofc the inventory cleaned out bank and all. If you wanted to keep your toon non-Season hardcore till you died, you select the option before the season starts OR upon entering the character select screen when the season starts, and it will get transferred to the non-season hardcore classic realm of your choice. Thats what I think would be a good mechanic to it.
Getting rid of world buffs really increases the impact of dungeon gear and extends the dungeon gearing/pre-raid gearing process which I think a lot of people like but it goes by so fast because you can get WBs and raid and don't need much gear because of it. I get that there is a whole community aspect of getting your WBs for raid but that seems a small price to pay for all the benefits not having them would bring. Seems healthier for the game to not have buffs that make your gear worth so much less.
They just need to implement achievements (kinda like hardcore addon has) for challenge runs and come up with meta progression that is more like a status thing showing off your progress that is visible even after your character's death, instead of making things easier like in many rogue likes. Something you grind up even if your character dies, outside of saving up money and reagents on a banking alt. Or I guess something that gives both negatives and positives (a bit like Binding of Isaac where you unlock both good and shit items).
I'm not a fan of more RNG causes for deaths like the curses and random new elite mobs but something that adds a consistent increase in difficulty would be good. Such as every mob being aggressive or the allergic to potion idea or elements from other survival games such as needing to eat/drink to stay alive.
Fallout type traits would be cool at least for leveling. You get positive effect but balance it with something negative like your curse lottery. Something like you deal extra damage but you can only walk when in combat etc etc
Lmao most people think the opposite of this, hardcore would be worth playing if there were "lives" instead of 1 death and gameover. Ex. one rez a month, so its still meaningful but not an entire waste of time if you lag out, etc.
optional challenges would be awesome, like you have a bunch to choose from and it would be a real achievement, and should have some kind of reward (cosmetic? title?) to show off that you did it.
I have a better idea for Cthun's Gaze debuff... 1% of chance of Cthun's Tentacle spawn on your character, and teleport your character to a random place in the world upon killing a monster.
Murloc apocalypse. You have to stop the murloc plague from taking over azeroth. The more players that die, the more murlocs spawn and rove in packs. And then uh more murlocs.
Can we just admit that Everquest had it right from the getgo? XP loss on death and 25% increased damage is where it is. Forget durability loss, embrace XP loss.
Honestly great ideas @Azamous. Especially the C'thuns Gaze would add so much flavor to the game. But why not just implement these ideas on a regular server? I think you would interest more people if the added challenge allowed you to die --> the punishment is 10% off of your precious armor! As fun as the rush of playing hardcore might be, to me it isn't worth it when your character dies. It is bad feels and kept me from going back to HC.
@@DaveDavis-f9wits called "kiss/curse", and has been a fundamental pillar of game design for decades. The point isn't to make things harder, it's to add a fun twist to the game. (Like the hardcore concept itself)
Season, where everyone who is a dwarf gets +100% xp and gold, and all who isnt gets -50% and the catch? you can only create dwarf in this season if you mained dwarf in all classic modes before 😎
I as just about to say that they Ascension. They should update some QoL stuff like Ascensions been doing and the fact it's been staying on (Some) classic servers for so long and the main server is just now going to WOTLK shortly. I fell in love with it, and I started playing it 2 weeks ago.
Ascension wow is toxic as fuck. Worse than LoL by far. Its so bad that it doesnt even matter if they have a unique server, because everyone is spiteful and hateful :)
It's crazy that Turtle WoW has had these types of challenges for ages, like being only able to wear grey/white gear, getting 50% less XP from mob kills, not being able to gain rested XP, etc. Meanwhile Blizzard is sitting there drinking breast milk and is unable to make anything cool anymore
50 percent less XP from mob kills? Yeah, no thanks. I would rather Blizzard employees drink all the breast milk in their Cosby suites all day long if they never brought that sh*t idea into the game.
I’m on private servers now I still pay blizz but they’re a disaster in comparison to the private servers I play on when it comes to handling bots and what not and interesting custom content that doesn’t destroy vanilla
Don't even need seasons to do that. Just have toggles you can activate at lvl 1, and you can have a buff showing what achievement you're on. The most fun I had with HC was doing fun add-on challenges, and it was cool to inspect other people to see what achievements they completed or were on as well. It was a total no brainer to implement this day 1 of hardcore, but sadly Blizzard once again far behind add-on or fan servers on this.
The problem with vanilla and anything going forward is how unviable every dps is compared to warriors until nax. Keep the class diversity and the friction, but make other specs viable and not be forced into a healing role. The class balance literally locks you into a certain class and in today’s gaming world the masses want choice. Vanilla gives you the illusion of choice. I hope they don’t make the same mistakes in classic +, but it’s blizzard. I’m a classic over retail player and while sod was over the top it was nice to play my favorite specs in vanilla and them actually be viable and allowed into raid.
Not repairing would be shithouse endgame, maybe instead you can only repair via your professions somehow. I completely agree though they need more on character select to modify the way you play, I've been saying this for years, long before "classic" and hardcore even came out.
Or how about, no changes are required at all? I feel like hardcore is fine just as it is at the moment. Although some content expansion would be nice, like classic+ or whatever. You know, new zones new dungeons etc
fun video, was nice seeing you have fun with the game rather than suffering over its monetization lol. not a fan of hardcore though, got to 40 and saw all the 60s dropping like flies and just gave up rather than lose all that time and effort
Fresh vanilla, plus a fresh hardcore server. Have to respect the casuals so they can keep playing their characters in a meaningful way. Barrier of entry to high now for hardcore
I don't know if this would lure regular players in though, streamers might like it but then what? I think the focus should be seasonal vanilla, tbc and wotlk realms so people can just play the classic experience they want every other year on repeat. But with those normal realms comes a wave of bots that won't be banned so.. who knows.
Fuck up's can happen, but if they're caused or even intentionally done by others Petri Flasks are going to save you. Everyone screaming "Petri needs to be removed!" hasn't played 60s content and doesn't realise that 60 content would be dead because if a full raid wipes due to 1 persons fuck up that'd be the death of HC raiding.

World of Warcraft went from having one game option (excluding private servers) for about 15 years. Now add another 5 years, and now you have: Retail (war within) Classic (cata currently) Classic era (vanilla) Season of discovery Hardcore (vanilla with a feature) And as a bonus, they also had a run of season of mastery. So a game in decline of players, now devided the playerbase into 5 different categories. Just so everyone can /y DEAD GAME BRO. Honestly a terrible plan for their product. I honestly believe they shouldve kept it as a retail run, and a classic run. Classic run heavily inspired from diablo with ladders. So you would get realm resets every now and then. If theh shoulf implement: Vanilla-TBC-WOTLK cycle, or just keep it as vanilla im not sure of. I even think a vanilla only ladder mode and wotlk only mode, would hold enough players to be functioning, as they are by far the most exciting versions of the game for the playerbase. And they tend to have the biggest crowds on private servers too (for many years). But having vanilla and wotlk only would also devide players into 3 modes, rather than 2. (Still better than 5), but that one would be debatable i suppose. Hardcore shouldve been an character creation option, that certain npc's could remove, but never add. You could even have options to toggle lets say "hardcore", "selffound" or whatever. And it would appear as a little debuff on you or something. Season of discovery is just retail merged with vanilla. It was not and never will be what people actually were crying for (classic plus), and it continues to be this mode, where a handful of players seem to be stuck in it, while most others only logon to see if the latest patch did something new to their character, but 1 week later they wont give this mode a thought.
I am playing HC WOW a lot since over half an Year and fear a bit of splitting this still small Player Base, since a lot people just watch Death Clips but just do not want to play such a of game where one unlucky Disconnect can delete days of Progression. You like this Concept or do not. I think they should do this Fresh Server but also Merge the Two Hardcore Server to One, than y still have two servers. I want to keep playing my progression because my goal ist to get all 8 classes on alliance side to lvl60 and gear with dungeon loot. All Toons are on over lvl 40 and 3 Already lvl 60. The Thing about Petri I see a bit different because you play a lot of dungeons without voice with people you have playing first time in a group with and a missunderstand can happen all the time. Than to use a petri is not so easy because they are kind of expensive and y realy want to do it as a last resort. It saves y not from all mechanics and y need to be lvl 50 to use them. This all nothing new information to you, i know, but that is why i like them. The Thing I do not find so cool is that y cannot use Mounts on Ships anymore and I am a bit afraid of what next changes from sod are coming to wow hc as well. If they would fix Bugs like famous missplaced Bridge or Mobs you cannot attack cause they still bugged.... This I would like, cause they are just useless.
Why the fuck would anyone willingly put themselves through some dumb shit like this. 😂 25% increased damage, can't use potions/consumes like bro just tell me you don't want me to have fun 🤣🤣🤣
Just remove WB and Petri. Hell if you want to be extreme lower or remove resistances. I think though a better option for the curses would be "Start with a curse and have a chance to inflict a curse".
just make petri trigger a debuff that prevents porting out of the instance for 15 minutes. then it stops being a bubble hearth but still has a niche use case
These were good ideas, but consider that Blizzard will not lift a finger to do actual work. So new patrolling elite NPCs is out. How I would do it is this: A character has to accept the extra challenge on top of hardcore when creating the character. In that case, certain buffs/debuffs rotate every day on all those characters. Examples: - You deal -25% damage and healing, and take -25% damage. - +20% movement speed, but your movement speed is reduced by 1% every second while in combat, up to 50%. - You take 50% less damage, but you receive 80% less healing from magic. The no-repair idea is interesting. Something like that should always be active.
