FYI, contact company, a replacement tube is available for sale. A bit of a whine might get a one time new tube. (Talk to Patrick! ) We adore our tribe of GoSun ovens.
I drive for a living and I cook on the road every time I pull over when I end my day. This here is great, I wouldn’t mind testing myself a Hotshot driver. By the way love your videos keep them coming…
You're doing too much, your engine is a heat source, wrap your food in aluminum foil, pop that puppy somewhere in there, close the hood and wait. Works every time
Long as you're always done driving while the Sun's still high enough, it's not cloudy or Winter time & you protect it well from drops/impacts... it might be worth the $100+ investment.
Thanks for the drop test. I am a total klutz, so I know I wouldn't want to spend my money on this because I'd surely break it in no time. I'll look for something a bit more durable.
something tells me this thing is considerably more delicate while it's still heated up like it was. Maybe after using it, storing it a while without the tray in it (so it's open at the tube), but in the shade even upside down, a while before packing it up would help it cool down and be a bit more shock proof during camping and such.
Either way, like the old-style vacuum glass thermoses, it's too delicate for most camping/backpacking trips. One wrong drop/impact & you're sol + $100+ bucks goes right down the drain :'( :'( :'(
I have all three. Go sun go is my water boiler in the red bag , 1st RULE LET IT COOL before playing football. My go sun oven kit SAME SIZE in the blue bag . 2nd RULE GLOVES , tongs anything that keeps you out of the emergency room related to BURNS . Fusion is plug and continue to cook model so I would start up cooking in sun THEN clouds came No problem plug it in like a slow cooker. I been playing with solar from my first homemade out of a cardboard box and oven cooking bags..This is REAL . I love these ON THE GO TRAVEL oven. I recomeend BOTH . One for water and the other to cook HAVE FUN and play SAFE. Your truly Retired Triage nurse.
It is the 2 corn dog size... the Sport is 4 corn dog sized cooker... I have 4 Go's ... a package of 4 fancy sausages fills two Go's... I can start with two frozen sausages each in the morning, they stay frozen until ready to cook... in half hour to an hour I get hot sausages... and the second Go will keep the sausages hot until ready to eat in a few hours.... went to movie, fixed my hot sausages, by sitting Go on top of my old truck ... wrapped them in a soft taco... squirted on my premixed catsup and mustard.... wrapped and ate 2 before movie and 2 after movie... just as hot as before the movie. Fast food ... it is like a thermos bottle. And they sell replacement tubes.
I like it!! I think this would be a great gadget to cook with, especially with the kids while camping. I also thought this would be cool to have next to the lake to cook your catch while fishing!
@@scottkrebs1761 The ambient temp is a minor concern. It's all about the UV rays. The UV rays penitrate the glass and because the tube is double walled and has that interior coating, they bounce around inside and heat up quickly. There can be snow on the ground with air temp below 40⁰F and it will still perform. I've cook at the beach under over cast skies. It took a little longer, but still worked. It's an enjoyable laid back activity. If you're looking for fast food, go to McDonald's. One tip: I always use a thermometer to make sure any meat I cook is safe to eat. Another tip: The time to cook is between 10:00am and 2:00pm and allow yourself plenty of cushion before sunset, especially on a cloudy day. Experiment and enjoy!
@@scottkrebs1761 - Also will depend a lot on how much cloud cover/shade is present. It's not going to work well for those who frequently camp in forested areas.
In michigan they don’t work very well not enough sun…..package is bulky cooks minimal amounts, and I believe we received a similar one from BB years ago…
LOL, interesting what happens when you read the instruction book. Very helpful video since I am going to get a GoSun. When I visit my dad in Maui we are out in a garden and I cook my lunch in glass container sitting on a mirror, this is a better option. Just get a tube, the rest is usable. I've been using GoSun cutlery for years. I have been using DLight lights for years.
Look into getting the GoSun Fusion, or GoSun Grill. These are their larger models. The Fusion uses an optional power pack to cook after the sun goes down.
Think it's awesome product however probly want multiple if cooking few people while on picnic/camping and keep in bag/shade before and after use so doesn't catch anything on fire. I'd probly have specific bag with foam or something to be shocked protected.
Looks like there might be room inside the case for wrapping the glass with something like bubble wrap? After it cools down of course. Someone may have already suggested this or something similar.
How long to cook in the Winter? How about 9a in the morning or 6p at night? I presume slower, but wondering if it's just slow or completely unviable...
Can I just say I think I have a crush on you! ❤ Very entertaining and informative video and you’re super cute. Love your test drops!! I’ve never seen anybody do that before and that is actually very smart that you do that for your viewers. New subscriber!
Take a stainless steel pot that is big enough for you or your family and paint it with chimney black, then surround it with mylar held in place with two or three stakes and paracord. Use monkey fist knots on the mylar. Use stakes that you make on site for minimal weight. Longer, thinner pots or a pan would be better. A little duct tape can fix rips in the mylar, everything else is bombproof. Set the pot on rocks to get heat underneath. Set the mylar on leaf litter or pine needles to insulate from the ground. With a average survival blanket you should get enough reflected energy to cook a really big meal.
I mean its cool that's for sure but as a big man, a husband and a father with a family of 4 it would take forever to make a meal cooking a burrito worth of meat and veg every 30 minutes. Something like a rocket stove seems more appropriate for a family especially since it still works when it's raining, snowing or cloudy I'm the fall winter and spring and is damn near bulletproof and fuel is still free if you use sticks wood. If you are dead set on solar look into the large Copenhagen Solar Cooker it will heat a pot and can cook anything from a small meal up to a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions for a large group. The bigger the meal the longer it takes so plan for that.
Stupid question here…..but can you add some type of film over the glass…like a screen protector so to speak? And if so, if it’s a clear film….the cooking time shouldn’t be affected, right?
Like the old-style vacuum glass thermoses, it's wayyy too delicate for most camping/backpacking trips. One wrong drop/impact and you're sol + $100+ bucks goes right down the drain :'(
I appreciate the review- especially dropping it both in the box and out- but sir, it wounded my soul to see you throw away that good cooking juice and olive oil. Especially when you're eating chicken breast, which doesn't have a whole lot of fat/ flavor on its own.
I mean mixing it with cold foods and bread would work nicely. Imagine putting two hot-dogs there every half an hour or so, when on beach. It will at least suffice for a hot midday snack. You get two of those and cook twice and you could have a proper dinner in an hour. Would it be unnecessarily expensive? Probably. But it is still a piece of hot chicken or other meat without any coal or real fire.
Doesn't tell the cooking Temp.? We need some way to always know what is the Temp. And, is there any health hazard with the water coming into direct contact with whatever that high Tech. material is?
Im tryin one right now doesnt seem like its working very good the sun is setting tho its small too it only fits about 8 oz of the 16oz aka 1lb i bought which i can eat in 1 meal its been 20 mins and hasnt cooked it very much
a Julia child's intro would be hella funny for the next cooking vid, not a fan of solar cooking. living in michigan, we dont get enough sun most of the year for this to be useful.
