I have the tiny pump as well and the Nemo Tensor pad. Wrap a couple wraps of electrical tape around the end of the nozzle and it will fit perfectly and not fall out when pumping up the mattress. Also works well with the Exped mats. My piece of gear that I love but has some quirks would be my Garmin Inreach. Sometimes the messages sent and received have a long delay in sending or receiving and other times it’s quick. Possibly just a signal quality issue in the mountains but still irritating.

The inreach issue is definitely a signal quality in the mountains. When I run tracking on mine, I'll notice longer stretches between location pins due to tree cover, cloud cover etc. Thats just something you've gotta accept when you're fortunate enough to have mountains to explore :)

man how did I not think of that? I'm an electrician lol. i was trying to figure something out with a thick elastic and meanwhile I have so much electrical tape in every pocket I own haha

Try putting a rubber band around the Tiny Pump adaptor. I use an Exped pumpsack with my Tensor and did that to keep it from slipping off so easily and it worked well
@MattyOutdoors
@MattyOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
I understand its easy to remedy. But for a very very common popular pad, I shouldnt have to, considering it works fine with my Amok pad, my zenbivy pad, etc.

My tiny pump came with a rubber adapter that still doesn’t fit but makes a good seal around the fill port. It’s all I use now. Bought a new big Agnes rapids sl and none of the hard plastic adapters work on it either

Same issue with the Flextail and the Tensor. So weird that they don't have an adaptor to fit such a popular pad. But yeah, bit of tape around the adaptor should do the trick.

I’ve heard a lot of people this year saying the garmin in reach mini isn’t working. That’s really concerning. That’s the whole point of having an expensive piece of gear that also requires an expensive subscription. They really need to get that figured out. That’s way too much money to spend for something that doesn’t work.
@MattyOutdoors
@MattyOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
I'm finding myself wishing I would have known the exact issue before uploading this, because it actually wasnt on garmins end at all. My friend had his account set on suspend mode for a few months while it wasn't in use, and hadn't actually activated it. This was unfortunately a user error thing. Thankfully we always have multiple units, so it actually wasnt a big deal. This is why theres a disclaimer in bold in the video description.
@shayzoo2
@shayzoo2 11 месяцев назад
@@MattyOutdoors I’m glad to hear yours was not an issue of the unit not working. I still have heard a concerning number of people on RU-vid saying they’ve had issues this year but only this year. I can’t think of once ever before I’ve heard someone say that. Hopefully there is more user error involved and it isn’t an issue with the system or in reach mini 2.
@MattyOutdoors
@MattyOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
@shayzoo2 id chalk them up to user error. people are always reluctant to admit their mistakes. it can be really easy to forget to take it off suspended mode when not in use. and even if you remember, there's multiple confirmations you need to click. its definitely not the ideal system, but once you do it a few times its super easy

I use the Flextail and like it. I also use it to deflate my mattresses. No more rolling them up to get the air out and then re-rolling to fit in the stuff sack. I don't mind the sound level of the pump, but don't like the pitch of the sound.
@MattyOutdoors

to conserve battery, I only fill with it. But that would work well

I have the flex tail pump and the same tensor sleeping pad, I have the same issue. It’s another gadget that needs to keep warm in cooler temperatures so it doesn’t lose its charge. More items to sleep with.

definitely one of those items worth keeping warm!

I wrap black tape around my tiny pump. But tents and pads suck balls. Hammocks for life. Except in alpine area's. My quirk is the thermarest x therm I hate that pad but I paid so much I keep using it lol

HMG SW3400 pack. Absolutely love this thing. But why put the ice axe loop right in the center of the middle outside pocket? If it was between the middle and side pocket, the ice axe would fit nicely even when the pockets are crammed full.
@daniel_503
@daniel_503 11 месяцев назад
I might be completely wrong but I believe the black befree is thicker. Honestly my only complaint with mine is that you can only filter 1L at a time with it which is a pain when you have other people that you’re filtering for.
@MattyOutdoors
@MattyOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
you can get 3L bags for them if you want. considering how fast they are, doing 1L at a time isn't bad at all

I absolutely love my OV shadowlight pack,but HATE that it doesn't have just two loops on the bottom to allow me to easily attach gear like a tent, or chair or whatever. Two loops!!

its pretty common with UL packs to not have loops on the bottom. I find the top strap works just fine

It's odd to say the Katadyn bag feels weak, even though it never fails and you are hard on gear? So it's strong enough then. I personally like the HydroBlu Versa Flow filter combined with a 2L Vector water bag
@MattyOutdoors
@MattyOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
I don't know if I'd say its strong enough. Plenty of folks have had holes and rips in the befree bags. I've been fortunate to not have one. But regardless of how weak or strong it is, I still don't like the feel of the bag.

How about this…I own four cook pots that I’ve randomly acquired….and none of them have markings for measuring liquids! Why do I literally have to look for a pot that has markings. I have two from Soto, pathfinder, msr, and a no name brand.

@@MattyOutdoors The mold thing has been debunked. Someone did a video a while back where they cut open their air pad after blowing it up with their lungs fur many years. There was zero mold found inside. I’m tempted to pick the air pump and use it for billowing my camp wood stove when needed. 👍🏼
