@Angie Reminds me of a cat I had decades ago. She was the stereotypical aloof and arrogant Queen of her domain, who didn't have much use for us hoomans. Until I bought a waterbed. Then I was her best friend - she marked me every chance she got for the next several days. 😊 Well, the bed WAS a queen... 😂

I'm a big advocate for Betty never getting a voice. She's so good as a mysterious wild child, a bohemian in a sea of traditionalists and circus performers. Talking would make her explain herself and I think she's better than that.

Yes I agree..they noticed as we obviously did that lil Rusty was very shy and quiet and would have been lost without his brother..probably been hard to find a home as he is quiet and might not have had the right home because of that so they chose to get him too..they have big hearts and I would have done the same thing in their position..

Definitely agree! 👍❤ I'm a pet rescue advocate in Columbus, Ohio and I cannot tell you how detrimental it can be to the overall psychological (and yes, even the physical!) health of an animal that's grown to develop a comfort / confidence type of bond with a buddy, and then they're separated. Of course many bounce back quickly, some take a while, but sadly some will literally grieve and become so depressed they stop eating and/or playing and can actually get very physically ill over it. The extreme cases aren't as rare as you'd think, but fortunately they are a minority. The thing is, it's tough to predict which ones will bounce back vs. have a horrible long-term depression. In each of the rescues I'm affiliated with, the policies are similar regarding bonded pairs. You treat every bonded animal as if he or she is one of those animals who will really suffer following the loss of their best friend. Since you don't know for sure until the split, you do your best to treat them ALL with caution and that way you avoid risking it at all. Of course being a rescue, we want the pets in forever homes and sometimes there's a separation we'd prefer not to make, but circumstances lead to it happening from time to time. Rarely, fortunately. Sorry to ramble on, but this topic struck a chord that's VERY close to my heart ❤ and I am so glad to stumble upon an opportunity to spread awareness about this little-understood facet of bringing home fur-babies! Hopefully at least one person who didn't realize how big a deal it is to keep bonded pairs together will read my post and it will inform a future decision of theirs should they encounter this issue when hunting around for a new pet. (Or petSSS, plural!) ❤❤❤

@@MeganVictoriaKearns you are right to highlight it and that was why I replied to the original comment saying why I thought they did it .they are obviously dedicated animal lovers and recognised the shyness and his bond with his sibling..it is hard especially if the quiet one is left..they just don't understand why they used to have a mom abd brothers and sisters then just being on their own..especially as lil Rusty is much smaller too..what people call the runt but personally I HATE that term..he probably got bullied away from food too which should be much better now.. I also used to foster neglected and abused cats and rehabilitate them so they can get their furever homes..and its the physical problems that can be sorted first and the psychological problems can take a very long time..some a matter of weeks ir a few months..my worst one was 8 months before I could even get close just to touch..he had stress reflux and stress fur loss..every time I moved he ran and hid..broke my heart...but I was not going to give up on him.. its just a matter of patience. .its got to be at their pace no matter how long.. I kept my foster upstairs..they had the run of upstairs as I had my own cats and a dogflap they could run away..never lost one thank goodness..once this boy started to trust he became a fuss monster..just had to sit on me or by me..still had reflux but just once a week rather than daily..our small group of rescuers worked closely with a cat rescue.. Harrys name and photo was there for adoption but we made it clear how they had to have experience with this sort of thing..the time and the patience to deal with it..obviously no body was interested so when we updated it saying he still needed some work because now and then if you moved a bit quickly you'd get a bite or scratch ..that he needed special sensitive food fir his tummy and he has reflux we didn't hold out much hope so I was seriously thinking should I add him to my brood..something I'd never thought of doing before. Then we get a call soneone is interested in Harry ...well they met him and it went amazing he even went up to them and nose booped him..I was very clear about his issues. .not a problem so they couldn't take him then as needed a sign iff from vet and they needed house check. Suffice to say that Harry. .very pleased they kept the name I gave him after his trick of hiding and finding the most darkest place ..so Mr J Houdini he became..also he lays in hus owners arms why they tickle his tummy..they're a retired couple so have plenty of time fir him..see..i gone on a bit now..

@@MeganVictoriaKearns oh Megan what a lovely reply..its not me..its THEM that do all the work..as for Harry I knew he wasn't feral otherwise he'd be going mad to get out and my heart just broke for the treatment he must have had to be this petrified..he needed someone to give him the opportunity to flourish..someone to fight his corner because it was probably his last chance of a furever home..add to that a BIG dose of stubbornness which I inherited from my mom🤣🤣
