We are DIYs and had two Ridgid batteries replaced, so Ridgid does honor their warranties. We are also on the Flex 24v platform and have heard that their lifetime warranty is good, too. Only time will tell. Great video 👍🙏❤️
I hate registering my tools at their website. First I start the process, then a few days latter they say they cant find the proof of purchase on their end. Then they ask me to scan and upload the receipt, then the still ask me to mail a copy. Then after i do that they say sorry,, its been more than 90 days!
I call ridgid every few years and get my batteries replaced for free. I have two 4 AH batteries coming today. Whenever I get a new battery I write the date in the battery so I know when to call. The two I called about were working fine. They told me to recycle the two I called about. No need to do that. They work fine.
I bought a Rigid auto impact wrench . I registered the tool. This tool got very light use. It failed after 1 year. I sent it at my cost to their authorized service vendor who sold jet skis and lawn mowers. This vendor provided abismal customer service. Finally, after several weeks the vendor claimed the tool was not registered and in ordered to fix the broken switch it would cost me about $130.00. (The tool initially cost about $100.00). I told the vendor to forget it and i wrote a letter to Rigid corporate. I never received a response!
I didn't have luck with their warranty I had to actually buy the part and repair my tablesaw. They said the part was discontinued but I found the switch on ereplacements.
If you registered it, you should have pushed them to fix it. If they don't have the part anymore, they will usually send you a whole new unit. My dad had that happen with his miter saw.

Have an old craftsman rachet tried to warranty at Lowes, they said they would not cover it and have to call craftsman. Did all the paperwork and photos they will not follow through with the warranty.
Imagine how far we would be had J.P Morgan had helped Nicola Tesla instead of screwing him over and burning his location and papers down to the ground. We wouldn't have to worry about having to charge batteries. I personally hate batteries because they die fast especially using a saw and I hate power cords because I end up accidentally cutting them or tripping all over them.

If you register them "Within their time limit" and they "HAPPEN TO HAVE IT ON FILE" (which I found this to be a 50/50 chance) You can send the battery in for EXCHANGE. Ok, you think you are getting a new battery back and you will still have a warranty on it. NOPE! 1. you are getting a "recondition battery" and 2. because it is not the ORGINAL BATTERY THERE IS NO WARRANTY!
I registered two batteries and they are supposed to send u back a confirmation email, well I never got one , forgot about it because I thought I had registered them correctly, when I went to have them changed under the warranty, they said they were not registered, so Im out of luck , I have a perfectly good drill and two dead batteries. Replacement battery is $95 CDN . I ended up buying a Porter Cable kit, 1 Drill, 1 Impact drill, 2 batteries , 1 charger and a tote bag came with it , all at Lowes for $99 CDN . Thanks for nothing Ridgid.
Rigid use false advertisement. At HD the lifetime warranty plack doesn't say to register it within 30 days or so, else you are sol. Top of the line JUNK batteries.

You can no longer take your tool to Home Depot for service- they require you to mail your tool to an obscure service center at your expense. The only way you can get a lifetime warranty is to purchase from Home Depot - Now how screwed up is that. This is an inconvenience many of us did not buy into when we purchased these tools
Yes sir , I only buy and use Ridgid 18v tools they hold up very well and the warranty is second to none ! Forever batteries are not offered on to many things in this world .. Great share , ENJOYED !!
Not my experience at all. The first time one of my batteries went bad and I contacted Ridgid, they did NOT want to honor THEIR the warranty that I registered for. At the time I needed a battery so I just went and bought one, after all, they're cheap, right? Ha, what's even worse is before I had the chance to register that one, and since I was mad as hell, I lost that battery. Another 4-amp battery just as useful as a dead one. Still trying to do as their phone number suggests, same success as their very own website, WORTHLESS. I've been told that Milwaukee Tools are better. I'll let you kmow after I switch to Milwaukee probably right after Xmas, maybe my wife will surprise me this Xmas...
The Ridgid Lifetime Warranty is crap. I sent in a replacement request Oct 29. I received the replacement battery Feb 2 after repeated phone calls. It took a full 90 days to obtain the replacement battery. If I was a professional, I couldn't wait 90 days for a replacement. I own various Ridgid tools. I won't be purchasing more in the future.
The short answer is they will intentionally make it difficult to collect They prefer not to honor their warranty and will use any possible reason even self made to not honor it.
I purchased a Rigid cordless drill, battery, charger on 8-2012, nearly 12 year's ago. I previously registered all of them, and I always keep my paperwork. So my battery hasn't been holding a charge, similar to yours. I called, had them call me back, an hour later I received a call from a nice Rigid representative and they are going to send me a new battery! After 12 year's of using it! Unbelievable LSA agreement from Rigid. Yes, you have to follow their directions, and jump thru a couple of hoops, but, to me, it's well worth it. No other tool company offers an LSA like Rigid tool's does imo. Thanks for the video. John.
We use Stanley battery tools. Really If I had done my homework right possibly, I would have gone with Rigid like you, but I didn't. My experience is OK not great and not bad either. As of now I wouldn't change since I have so many tools. We have an angle grinder, 6-inch circular saw, hammer drill, jig saw, reciprocating saw and more so changing really isn't in the picture. On the other hand, most of the batteries are still working pretty well. I mark the ones which don't last long and use them on small jobs. Also, I need to look into this, but I am thinking the older batteries like I have can be rebuilt. All our tools are still 18-volt models. I enjoyed watching the video and if I had it to do again I too would have gone with Rigid I think. Thanks for the video
Home Depot won't accept Ridgid tools for repair any longer, Service centers won't either, no response from Ridgid. I think they are going out of business
For me, ridgid became contractor main tool kit(framer,finish,) on my tool box. First i had already dewalt and milwaukee. but the ridgid warranty and LSA is the best. ridgid just need to come out with the heavy duty cordless tools like milwaukee have.the tools i have that are not ridgid is the festool saw track,hitachi cordless guns.
I have a set of Ridgid 1.5AH batteries that are going on 12-years old. They're about at the point you replaced yours power-wise, so time to replace mine. I've replaced Ridgid batteries in the past and have never had an issue. I'm unsure why others have had different results. As long as the website shows it's covered under the LSA, you're covered. Ridgid Tools rock! I have tons of them and just bought a string trimmer, a work light, and 3 more high-AH batteries during the recent Black Friday sale. Never a problem with these tools!
You paid for the tool have the receipt duh why do you have to send them the receipt they gave you to register it. Its a discrimi atory policy to limit claims. Its setup for that purpose. Shame on them for not just standing by their tools
First of all, it’s actually a lifetime service agreement, which is technically not a warranty. They will replace the batteries, but with the tools, they decide whether to replace or repair them. I’ve heard great things about them honoring their service agreement, but I’ve also heard that sometimes it takes awhile to get the tool back.

You’re using quotation marks for things that aren’t actually quotes. Their “time limit” is clearly stated as “90 days.” As far as them “having it on file,” you should already know if they have it on file. The registration is done online, and it’s really easy to go into your account and see what they have “on file.” Please stop posting vague misleading comments that misinform people. Talk to Tools With SOALZ, because he knows more about Ridgid than you ever will.
I had an 7 year old brushed drill that went bad. Took it to a HD that has a rental center. They inspected the drill and said to go to the tool department and explain the situation. HD gave me the best brushless drill "kit" at the time. In other words, LSA got me a new brushless drill, 2 bats, charger and bag. HD also said to keep the original old bat and charger that are still LSA.
@@SoatMon I wonder of the policy changed or i depends on the people in the Rental Center. Their were two people in the Rental Center. A guy was very easy and said to get a replacement. Then a young woman got involved and started talking a lot of crap and acting like she would not replace it. It did look a little abused as I used it to mix asphalt sealer and it had black gunk all over it that I could not remove. Hope it worked out for you.
@@SoatMon I recently learned the policy changed Jan 2023. Rental/Service Department no longer handle's Ridgid Tools and LSA. The customer must ship it.
It is hard to imagine how a company can offer a lifetime warranty on a drill, it is even harder to believe they can also offer a lifetime warranty on the battery. I suspect Rigid will either soon end the offer or go bankrupt.
This has been my same thought lately. You normally pay pretty good money just to get a couple year warranty on any electronics after a purchase let alone a LIFETIME warranty. It's bonkers. I'm sure they added it to get people onto their system and it worked for me as I am ridgid only. I know they can mass produce stuff very cheap these days but if in 20 years my drill craps out and they are giving out their new 2050 super duper drills to people that bought tools 20 years ago..they can't be making money at that point. The warranty only covers manufacture defects, not wear and tear so I'm sure they will just say everything is wear and tear and turn down most requests.
@@mccollapiaries I bought my first set 20 years ago,have replaced 3 batteries and a drill chuck. No problems. They have been doing this for 20 years so I don't think they will be going bankrupt anytime soon
Not that it matters cuz they gave you a replacement of better batteries than you had. But are The replacements they sent you brand new or are they factory refurbished. either way they're higher ah batteries than what you got so you're ahead of the game
I like the LSA more for the battery replacement than the repair agreement on the tools. Tools *might* someday fail but a battery will ALWAY reach end of life one day.
Burt. Even putting it down didn't help. Because the drill would burst into flames. I tried to get a replacement. But no go. I put the drill in a metal container and the battery in another container. After that I bought a Dewalt. And of course now a Ridgid.
A friend of mine had a Ridgid bandsaw and a part broke. Ridgid no longer made the saw and couldn't get the part but would not replace the saw. They told him DeWalt had the same part which he did order to fix it but Ridgid did nothing for him. I have many Ridgid tools and the oldest batteries are about 12 years old and still work fine. Personally, I haven't had to try the service agreement or warranty for batteries.
It is NOT a lifetime warranty. It is a lifetime service agreement. Very different but still the best option from any major tool manufacturer that i am currently aware of.
My problem With ridgid is that when I try to register is that I put in all the info and submit a receipt and it won’t accept the Home Depot receipt. So their lifetime warranty is worthless to me
I consider this LSA to be insurance. You pay a bit more upfront on a lot of the products than other brands of similar quality/durability and if it is ever needed and they honor it than you’re probably ahead of the game. But if that tool or battery miraculously outlives you or they change or cancel the LSA than one may have paid more than they should have for that tool. I am currently researching mid grade cordless tool lines and am only considering Ridgid because of the LSA, but wonder if it makes sense to invest in their products or another brand of similar quality tools with a considerably shorter warranty period but also at a much lower price for comparable products. That line of tools have a good performance track record for DIY/occasional use, but would consider them to be “throw away” tools if they fail. For the higher price of Ridgid, I would definitely not be happy if they failed to honor the LSA if/when needed.The recent changes to the LSA policies have me wondering what other changes are to come in the future…
Wow 8.5 years on the batteries. Those have been power cycled to end of life. Batteries obviously don't last forever. It's crazy to me they'll even replace that. Feels almost like abusing the service agreement...
I still have the original (2) 4amps batteries (and drill-impact) plus 4 more batteries! Only buy during Nov-Dec 2 for $99. Also have 6 Ridgid tools latest is the NIB from HD a octang 7 1/4" circular 85$! All registered.
Wow that is great that they honoured it the batteries. Normally, any sort of battery can only be recharged X number of times, and then they are worthless. To replace 8 year old batteries is amazing. How can they not be losing money with these lifetime warranties?
From some reddit comments, lifetime actually refers to the lifetime of the tool and there have been cases where they said the tool's lifetime has ended. Also years later there'd be improved battery technology that people might want to upgrade to, or moved onto other brand platforms. Realistically, most tool at this caliber especially when bought by DIY users don't break that often. And that leads to the last and most interesting theory: They may in fact be losing money/limiting profits and that's by current design. I noticed Ridgid has had a number of clearance sales lately at Home Depot, at the moment some clearance prices some are even cheaper than the Ryobi equivalent for people that managed to snag them. But that's the thing, it gets people to hound Home Depot to check for them, and I saw some posts theorizing that Ridgid is being set as a loss leader to get people to come shop at Home Depot more. In recent years people had been wondering where Ridgid stands in the TTI lineup, since of their three big tool companies, Milwaukee has the elite pro level covered, while Ryobi is the pet brand ever expanding everywhere in Home Depot covering DIY, and even taking over some of Ridgid's space in the prosumer level. It may be intentional that they decided Ridgid's main role is to be an amazing value (at least on sale) but intentionally limited tool selection compared to the other two. It should be noted that apparently Ridgid's Octane line from a few years ago got discontinued not because they sucked, but because they were TOO good and eating into their Milwaukee profits, people were saying some were as good as Milwaukee but cheaper. So if these theories are true, Ridgid is carefully set not step on the toes of its brothers, and not allowed by the parent company to have the wide range of tool selection Ryobi has and if it gets as good as Milwaukee it gets spanked and told not to be, and serve the purpose of luring people to keep shopping at Home Depot constantly.
Very interesting. Alot of others videos stretch it out too long. You got to the points I needed to hear right away. Thank you for that. I'm new to Ridgid. I started with Makita years ago. Then moved up to Black and Decker because after years of use the Makita batteries didn't charge well. And when the charger died I was left with batteries I couldn't charge. Since they no longer sold the charger for that kind of battery. I still have my Black and Decker drills. When I bought them they only came with one battery. I cut the case and made a space for a second battery. This worked fine. Then I tried the KAWASAKI cordless drill. Bought it cheap at a yard sale. I'd advice everyone to stay away from them. When I bought it I noticed that the front of the case had been repaired. I pulled back the repair to find that the case had a burn hole through it. When I used the 20 Amp drill it was fine.(How much time do you really have to check anything at a yard sale) And I knew they guy. But once I started using it. It started to have a problem. problem.
My story. Watched a ton of youtube videos and decided on the Milwaukee drill. Found out by watching more videos a driver is better than a drill for driving screws so I had to re-evaluate my decision. Had good success with a Ryobi as per hammer drill thus changed to a Ryobi brushless combo. Went to Home Depot to purchase and asked the tool person what they thought. Ridgid was on sale, and the combo drill driver 2 battery was priced less than Ryobi with a lifetime warranty vs Ryobi 3 years. For my drill/driver amount of use figured price vs use vs quality Ridgid my best fit for purchase. Been a Dewalt guy for decades and trying to get the best bang for the buck as I am past retirement age but still rocking tools at my trade. Decided on Ridgid since they are made by Milwaukee, are good quality and have a fantastic warranty. I hate the colour of Ridgid but that doesn't drive deck screws. Flashed my Ridgid driver and drill up tonight and very pleased with the form and function. Great bang for the buck especially the warranty. My tools are not in a fashion show. The warranty sounded too good to be true but you put it into perspective with your excellent video. Like the battery story as I thought the battery will fail before the drill/driver. Well done and thanks for the peace of mind.
I’ve used them four times and they have honored them every time. The registrations are in my account but I’m gonna take screen shots now and keep them in a safe place now that you said they “lost” yours just in case. But from many places online and from my own personal experience, I know that they do honor the LSA.
This is false. They honor the warranty, they will give you the LSA if you buy from Home Depot ( online or in store ) they will also honor it from Direct Tools ( online or instore ) on new or factory blemished tools ( but not factory refurbished )
Great video! I have never been able to get past the registration process for the Rigid warranty stuff. Every time I have tried, they want me to mail a notarized receipt, a photo of the cash used to pay, a note from my wife, and a urine sample. Maybe I exaggerate, but it always seems to be way more effort than it should be, similar to your exchange experience. Thankfully, I have had no issues with my Rigid stuff (all corded tools), but the lifetime warranty is not a player in my purchase decision.

@@MuddFlappRanch I heard that was an issue in the past, but everyone I’ve asked says it’s gotten much better. Some people say you can call them directly.
Its really easy with online registration these days. I think things gotten easier since everything is highly computerized and they have access to the HD receipt database. Sometimes they don't approve the LSA registration in time but a quick emails always fixes that for me.
All of my tools are used snap on products that I've bought from eBay. Every time any of them has even been scuffed up, they replace it, no questions.... Only hassle is that you gotta know where a snap on truck is but doesn't take too long to figure it out. Great tools, superior warranty.
The power tools from Snap-On don't enjoy the same level of warranty of their hand tools. I believe a two year limit compared to the lifetime on hand tools. Plus they cost a bit more than the other brands.
