Ciao Stephano, a big thank you for making this topic! I graduated from medical school from Taiwan last year, and am studying in a master degree in France in neuroscience. I am in the process of registering my medical degree with MBEKO and I have some questions about finding my first assistenzart in adult psychiatry in a french speaking canton. I already satisfied the C1 french requirement, but am quite lost about the next step as in where and how to find job openings, who to contact etc. Should I wait until MBEKO recognize my degree or are there possibilities to apply already or get a short term stage (I am not in medical school anymore but I am registered in the university of LIlle in France in a Master degree of Precision medicine research.) Thank you for providing a few insights into this process. Grazie mille!
Hi I am working on a video in English to better understand how navigate swiss residency program. I would recommend to wait MEBEKO registration (or at least the proof of payment) before starting sending your applications to differnt hospitals. If I specialize for 4 years at cardiology in Germany and then come to Switzerland, do I have to do the Internal medicine training which I haven’t in Germany or can I work directly as cardiologist in Switzerland ?
I have read very demotivating information about doing surgical specialties in Switzerland, like is not the best place due to the residency's requirements. Is that complicated as it looks like? How about the specialisation in othorhinolaringology/head-neck surgery? Thanks Stefano!
Hello! I know that you get so much questions like this, but I’m so stressed that you know, I need some reassurance 😅 I have just finished med school and received my diploma in Poland, I am a polish citizen. I have C1 certificate in German. I’d like to apply in any German-speaking area. I don’t have anything special in mind aside from the fact that I don’t want to be a surgeon of any kind 😅 You know, GP, internal medicine, radiology, whatever, anything is great. I think I’ll be able to find a job, right? Right?? I mean, I don’t have any significant scientific achievements, I don’t know if that’s important. Do you maybe have some resources about what are the criteria when it comes to applying for residency? And how competitive it is?
If u speak german and you’re keen to take any job as resident doctor anywhere in Switzerland then chances are on your side. Scientific achievement only needed for more academic environment such as university hospitals
Hello doctor! Thank you about your time and efforts to help doctors enjoy this wonderful journey in the field of medicine! I am a medical resident ( 2 years in general surgery and the I switched to Family medicine for about one year) , I am ready to leave my country in order to be accepted as a doctor in the field of general surgery. Is General surgery a field that needs doctors in Switzerland or is it overpopulated? Thank you in advance!
Grazie mille. Come sempre bel video.
Hi Stefano, what about Orthopedics? It is my dream to be a surgeon and really dont want to give it up for another specialty. Do you know where i can find more info about surgery in Switzerland?
Thank you!! Im a dutch doctor (graduated 1 year ago) and want to work at a neurology department. Is there a certain amount of years experience you need to start working at a neurology department in swiss?
Previous experience is not formally required but it can help to get the job. I would suggest to start with one year of internal medicine( that by the way is compulsory).
Hello I have completed my medicine from Ukraine. Now am planning to do internship in my country (India). I want to work in one of the top EU countries.. is my physician certificate from Ukraine will be considered under EU??
thank you very much for the useful information can i contact you personally because i have questions in which their answers are not present in your videos?
CIao stefano!
Hello Stefano! I am a 4th-year medical student and I am considering starting the preparation in order to do my specialty in Switzerland. However, I am worried that there is a possibility that any hospital won't accept me and my effort will get wasted. Is this a highly liked scenario for anyone wanting to start their specialty in the French part of Switzerland or do most people make it? Also, is it worth it learning French over German, if you like it more, or does it lower your chance of being accepted significantly? Thank you in advance!
I think the chances are definitely on your side if you are ready to start in any specialty anywhere in the french part of CH , at least for the first job. Personal advice: if u still have time, try to get an internship or "stage" while you're still a med student, it will increase your chances to get a job afterwards
Thank you! Also, are you satisfied with your decision to do your specialty in the French part of Switzerland or have you regretted it? Sorry if you have mentioned it in another vid, but most of them are in Italian, so I don't understand much.
You can see the ranking here edurank.org/medicine/sports/ch/ However, check out the requirements to access Swiss universities, because they usually are very strict. These are the criteria to access Swiss medicine universities ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9G8xXSPg2oA.html
Ciao, avrei una domanda: se volessi specializzarmi in Italia potrei lavorare come specializzato in Svizzera oppure no? Oppure mi conviene specializzarmi direttamente lí post laurea
Sì puoi, guarda questo video SPECIALIZZARSI in ITALIA o in SVIZZERA? - Ti dico il mio parere // Un Medico in Svizzera ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFNvvULvgJw.html
Ciao!
hello there sir kindly give some information about gyne/obs residency possibility/requirements in swiss ??? i am doing my training in pakistan and doing MRCOG exams too is the MRCOG degree recognised in swiss ??? over all will and how i be able to get registered and work as a doctor in future ??? kindly give me detailed informations..!! i appreciate your efforts in helping others 🙏
Only the federal office body in charge of recognition of MD title and post-graduate training(MEBEKO) can formally answer to this question . Nevertheless remember that direct recognition of titles is not possible for non-EU countries
