Personally, I thought ROLAND constantly interrupting Tommy was distracting and annoying. I have become interested in this vehicle so I found the info and views valuable. Unfortunately, here in Wisconsin and presumably just about everywhere, they are hard to find. Even if dealers list one or two on website as being in their inventory, they are NOT in stock. A lot to get into here, but suffice to say, some dealers, like in Milwaukee area, are trying to add THOUSANDS, yes, thousands, to the price and are gouging potential customers. Be careful. Car shopping is not what it used to be and since the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid has gotten some good press, Consumer Reports/car mags, the dealer vultures have decided to get what they can squeeze out of some people. I realize this doesn't help your business, which is showcasing vehicles, but you should make people aware of the hazards laying in wait for those looking for a new vehicle now.

My son bought a 2021 Hyundai Elantra very base model SEL. Yesterday he was backing out of our driveway and a car came around the corner at a very high speed. He did not see it but the standard equipped Hyundai with it's safety technology sounded alarms and automatically applied the brakes. They truly are taking technology from what you would only expect on higher level auto's and putting on their common product line.

That was the shortest policy we ever had. We had more accidents backing in to the spot, than trying to back out of a spot upon leaving. Our next policy shifted to parking at a distance. I bought the Limited Hybrid model back in Nov. I compared it to the Rav4 hybrid and the CRV hybrid and fully loaded they all cost a lot (+ I need AWD). All are nice cars but I finally went for the Tucson hybrid because of the extra power, the tech (I love the cameras and can live with no buttons), the warranty (10yrs/100,000 miles), the mileage (I'm averaging the 37 mpg), and the looks. You need to lock the car before that smart tailgate begins to work and it won't be active right after you locked it. Also, you can deactivate it from the central control system. I like this tailgate especially when I'm carrying stuff in my hand coming out of the grocery store. Actually, I've amazed a kid who is trying to help me to open it when she saw me standing behind my car while it's beeping. And when the trunk pop she was like "wow, that's so cool." 😄 My only gripe on this is it's missing a rear seat sunshade, even a manual one like their Euro model would be good.

39k for a Tucson?! These car prices are far outpacing inflation by 10 miles. Lost me at 39k.
@glennnichols4220
@glennnichols4220 3 года назад
What do you think is a more reasonable price to pay for this? A fully loaded Rav4 V6 in 2008 hit almost 28k. But then that price hadn't risen much through 2015 where you could still get a fully loaded one for 30k. Then somehow in 2021 it ballooned to 37 for a non hybrid. I get what you are saying but unfortunately they more crap they throw and cram in the car the more you and I are going to pay. I for one just bought a 2009 RX350 AWD with 81k miles on it and in all honesty I am ok with the basics since I truly believe that when I learned to drive I didn't need the extra 5k every possible warning system on my vehicle to let me know I am a shitty driver that they do now. Auto companies are becoming smarter by understanding people suck at driving and are being able to charge more for these features they know are necessary for the ones who are well shitty drivers and pay more attention to their phones. Some of the added safety features are sure nice to have such as anti skid, stability control to keep you out of accidents that really you may not be able to avoid. But I don't need 18 cameras 15 LED headlights it isn't necessary to have a power lift gate or a vibrating seat blah blah blah. Touch screen this touch screen that. Steve if you got rid of all of those things I bet a Tucson could be pretty cheap as in the id 20's with everything most people really need.
@stevewise1656
@stevewise1656 3 года назад
@@glennnichols4220 I’m a tech guy and totally into all the new automotive technology in the the infotainment systems and safety features. More importantly for me besides all the safety tech itself is IIHS crash test ratings for my family. What I was getting at is the Tucson pricing and size has jumped a good deal and it’s now competing with the Santa Fe. Wages aren’t nearly keeping pace with car prices, so consumers are leasing or buying cars for terms that can last well over five years. With the chip shortage some of the companies are able to charge a premium because everyone wants an SUV. As an aside I took a trip to my dealership on Monday and they barely have any vehicles in stock and the new SUV’s are pre-orders…the Chevy dealership next door was closed, because they have zero stock. Many of these dealerships charging well over MSRP thought, along with some manufacturers (I read an article about this) holding back inventory moving forward as a new business model, will need to reconsider that “new sales model” when we eventually do have a recession.
@glennnichols4220
@glennnichols4220 3 года назад
@@stevewise1656 I can appreciate it. If I could find a 1993 Honda Accord with 43k miles on it for cheap I would. But you are correct about safety. Vehicles don't get less safe per say unless it's a flaw in the design. We all have different needs when purchasing and to me I probably don't focus on safety im a crash as much as some people seeing I am by myself. But if ypu want to go down the road of safety I think you look no further than Volvo which I am sure you know has been at the forefront for quite a few years. Maybe buy a used one and an add an extended warranty. A tad off subject but in the past few months I have seen some prices around me go up on used vehicles but deals can be found depending on where you are looking to go. I bought my recent purchase 850 miles away and enjoyed the stop in the city I bought it from and had a very enjoyable comfortable ride back. I kick myself because a few times because I found some really great deals on older Toyota SUVS well maintained for great prices. Keep looking like I did and then don't hesitate to jump because as I learned there are more people like me being a bloodhound.

First and foremost, thank you for this thorough and balanced review - although there was one point that I was slightly puzzled, as when you were demonstrating the climate control icons - they were responding instantly to your touch - but then you seem to be saying the buttons are tricky to use.. this leads me to realise that - I guess I’m in the minority, but having test driven this car and spent some time with it I didn’t have a problem with the lack of buttons! 🤨😮 I’ve been put off in the past by some VW group cars because of having to use the touchscreen system for climate control… However the climate controls are separated from the entertainment system, it is very easy to raise or lower the temperature quickly. The icons are all grouped together very clearly in their own area below the entertainment system (and I love the driver only function), personally I just didn’t find it tricky to adjust on the move, and when it comes to climate control, I often set a temperature at the beginning of the journey and press sync and off we go - so I feel far too much fuss is being lavished on this manufacturer choice, in my opinion - don’t let it put you off what is a brilliant technologically sound car Again - (this is all purely my personal - amateur enthusiasts opinion), when it comes to the volume button it just is not an issue for me. I find the toggle on the steering wheel is far easier to use (even if the car did have a knob, I find the volume on the steering wheel is so much easier to operate and easy to mute, than reaching down to find volume knob). I also think the whole look of the dashboard controls are sleek, modern and classy looking. For me, adding a couple of knobs would not really make it much easier to operate.. within a day of test driving the car I had easily got used to setting the temperature as I liked it and I did not worry at all about the lack of physical control for Aircon/ volume Just my personal view, I love the car and have ordered one. Level of specification, space in the trunk and comfortable quiet ride all the things that have stood out to me on my test drive.

On the 11th of Feb 2022 I bought a 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited. 1K miles on it since. Really enjoy the car. Needed to buy a cargo liner for the rear and seat belt extenders for the two cars seats we have for the grandkids. The buckles are deep in the seat platform and I have to search and find to plug the belt into them. Easily solved real world issues. Odd that there's a separate charge for floor mats. With the price of gas skyrocketing, there's some comfort in knowing the hybrid gets better decomposed dinosaur bones per gallon.

I've been following this new generation Tucson for a while and think it looks great. I'm hoping to purchase one in the coming months, but waiting for more driving impression reviews. Hopefully that is coming from TFL sooner than later. I'm really interested to find out if the Hybrid is as efficient as Hyundai is claiming. I noticed the Rav4 appears to hit it's target number per the EPA, but I've found the Honda CR-V to come in well below the EPA figures. Cool, thanks for making the vids.

Last time I checked no one is trading their smart phones back in for an old push button one.....people will adapt and get used to it... plus just put it in auto and set the temp and forget it.... and even though my current ride has a volume knob...I almost NEVER use it because I have volume control on my steering wheel. The infotainment system does appear a bit laggy. I’m thinking the safest and most efficient way to adjust the audio volume is through the steering wheel so you can keep your hands on the wheel. Don’t really see the need for a fixed volume knob. The interior looks really nice. The rear seat area doesn’t look snug but I’m wondering how it compares to the CRV. Nice ride 👍

I wish that Hyundai would have installed a bigger gas tank in the Tucson Hybrid. Getting less than 400 miles (13+ gallon tank) range when doing interstate traveling is not enough for me. My 2018 Subaru Outback can go from the Eastern Ohio state (full tank) line (Ohio gas is now cheaper than Pennsylvania's) to Shrewsbury, Massachusetts @ 65-70 MPH average on ONE tank. The secret is an almost 19 gallon gas tank and 32-33 MPG fuel consumption. Gas is cheaper in Ohio and when I arrive at Shrewsbury, MA I go to the BJ's discounted gas station. I tried that once. Now I drive from Salem, Ohio to Port Jervis, NJ (cheaper gas) with range to spare without the range anxiety.

Hi guys. So I was interested on getting a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy then I started watching RU-vid reviewers like this one so I was intrigued when they mentioned 37-38MPG for 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid. However, I started digging deep because I couldn’t make up my mine on a Calligraphy or Tucson Hybrid. So I started hitting the forums and I have read soooo many comments of ppl getting less then 30MPG on the Tucson Hybrid but also forums of a lot of ppl mentioning how they are having jerky/stuttering driving experiences after purchasing the Tucson. After reading the forums and the nightmare that ppl are going through with the 2022 Tucson, I think I am now second guessing on getting a Tucson and avoiding going through the headache of transmission issues or jerky transmission experiences and just getting a calligraphy.

Hyundai and Kia are usually the best value you can get considering their (usually) competitive price and absurd warranty. I had a 2012 Kia Soul that just took everything we threw at it and never let me down. Even after accidentally forgetting to change the oil once thus putting ~12k miles on conventional oil. Up until I sold it at ~135k miles. 30mpg city and one of the lowest prices of any car was just icing on the cake.

The Tucson blows the RAV4 away on every level. However, Toyota still has a strong following because people have it stuck in their heads that it has a force field of reliability. Those days are history for Toyota, so people may as well get the infinitely more attractive, spacious, quiet, and modern Tucson. However, I don’t mind at all if people continue buying the RAV4.
