First fishing session of the season trying out the Battle Star jerk bait. Was hoping to to find some perch. Fun quick fish before work. #surffishing #battlestar #perch #striper #california #stripedbass #jerkbaits #montereybay
I’m up in Northern California. Striper are common, but some years better than others. Last couple of years have been slow. From the ocean anyway, the bay and delta might be a different story. I only fish the ocean.
Not being a jerk, I'm really not, but be a better sportsman and try to not keep a fish out of the water for over 2 minuets. That fish probably won't survive. Think if a fish held you underwater for 2 minuets.
@@caloha7057 That lure, I looked, and it's $15.99. Why so much for a non name brand lure? Is it good quality? I ask because I'm a lure junky, if it's good I may need to buy one!
@@thegoods2240 I’m a huge fan of Lucky Craft. Both 110 and 115s. Pretty much my go to. Tried the calissa lures, don’t feel they are consistent in build quality. So I’m over those. With this battle star, I’ve seen a lot of the guys in the surrounding area use this jerk bait and have had success with perch. Figured I’d give it a try. That was my first time using it and it worked for me. Used it 2 other times and no luck. But no luck on my LC either. It feels good now, and I’ll keep fishing it. Hooks aren’t the best on it. 🤙
