In this video, I fish a pond located near a local hospital and senior living area. Even with its odd location, this spot has been known to produce tons of largemouth bass. There are even rumors of a 5+ pound giant dwelling here... check out what I find as I fish using the smallest whopper plopper- the whopper plopper 60!

I purchased the bone color and nothing was biting. Took my black Magic Marker and colored my lure all Black and now I'm catching fish. Also I plop (quick jerk) my lure, hardly ever do a steady retrieve, which seems to helped me get more strikes.

What time of day was the black color working. Also was the water clear or muddy? I have two ploppers, one yellow and one black so I'm curious why yours worked better with a black color.

@@arungeorge2285 Water is not clear but not merky, maybe (guessing) 3 to 4 feet visibility. I fish evryday right at sunup.

In our experience, the bone yellow and white have worked amazingly for us, and I'm not sure if there's ever been a time we haven't caught at least one fish while using the whopper plopper. Although, our dad uses the knock off Walmart brand with all different colors and catches fish as well. In my opinion, I think covering water is the main advantage of a the plopper. The more water you can cover and the more fish you can present the plopper to, the better the chance you have at catching something. That goes for all lures in my opinion, regardless if it's a jerkbait, senko, etc. You need to cover as much area as possible and constantly throw your lure in every nook and cranny there is

We used to be the guys who thought you must get up at sunrise, but honestly late morning (10-11) and midday (12-1) is where we see some of our most constant action and greatest success. In our experience, the plopper works better the clearer the water is, but that doesn't mean we haven't caught fish in murky/brown water with it.

@@hoovboysoutdoors I went out again this morning around 7:30. Fished for about 45 minutes, only 1 small perch. Switch over to a silver rat trap and caught 8 bass. Larges one was almost 2 pounds. Went out again tonight and on the black whopper,I caught 6 bass, all were about 5 to 7 inches long. All small. Tried the silver rattle trap again and caught 7 bass, all 1.5 to 2 pounds. I think I have a new favorite lure. Side note, the lure is exactly like a rattle trap, but I think it one made by Rapaula. So it’s called something else. My PB is 7.24 pounds and it was on a 4 inch long black Berkley plopper. I don’t fish at noon, it’s been over 100 outside in Oklahoma, so that it why I fish morning and evening only.
