Excellent info John. I fixed mine with a foam tape actually. And some WD40 on the rails and hinges as well the spring on the latch mechanism. Not a sound! It was quite amazing the fix with the speakers...though it was the plastic cover on the dash, but you were so right on this mate ! Thanks ! Cheers.
Thanks Nicholas. I will get my WD40 going this weekend too. I desperately need to clean the hinge areas on my leather seat cushions as well. so might do a bit more probing around the latch are while im at it.
What, no mice jokes? I’m disappointed. ;-). I’ll try and comment in the other video, but thanks for the tip on the bonnet drainage pipes. One of mine was off, and missing the clip the rubber hanger is meant to hook on, so I used the screw that holds that piece on instead. Took the screw out, put it through the hanger and retighten.
Hi John. Great videos that you produce, I have just purchased an XKR in Topaz with 41 thousand miles in Jersey. I am needing you help and advice, the brake lights are permantly on hi have replaced the 2 brake light micro switches. Still the same swapped the relay, still the same I cant find the control unit that the hand book states it has. As this is the only part that I feel might be the problem, but you may have another idear, hopefully. Kind regards Terry Gorvel
Hi Jan and thanks for the kind words. No instant solution im afraid, but one thing to look at is that most brake lights on cars have a switch connecting them to earth rather than to the positive supply (which is always on). So if any o the wiring around the tail lights in your boot is rubbed through and touching the bodywork, that could be the culprit. The Body processor module is behind the dashboard and can be viewed only with your head in the footwell looking up. I believe its on the drivers side, but could be wrong on that as LHD and RHD cars are sometimes mirrored and other times not and I get confused😔
Actually speaking of noises, I've had this engine startup noise for a while (when started cold. It doesn't happen if the engine's been started in the past few hours) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wveTrAChi6I.html - I believe it's something to do with insufficient oil pressure on startup. Have you ever come across this? Perhaps you could do a video on it. Thanks!
