I don't make many comments tbh, but this certainly deserves a big "thank you". Watching dozens of similar issues like this I pulled the carb off and on to no avail many times, and the F****** thing still wouldn't run more than 5 sec. What struck me about this one is you saying just because the fine needle file or whatever you use goes through a jet or fuel flow opening doesn't mean it's completely clean. Also don't chase a carb that's beyond a normal clean buy a new one meaning they can really gum up badly With that in mind I really went to town making sure my fine drills ended up turning in the holes and not like before threading in and out, and then I finished reaming them with the drill bits like you showed. Low and behold she now purrs like a kitten and the the grass has had its first cut. BTW Take no notice of those having a pop at you about your camera work. Because if they can't suss what you are doing out of camera shot they shouldn't be attempting this and instead pay someone like you. :-)
Boom... Ya see... That's how it's done... Good on ya.. ohhh I don't worry to much about bad comments.... But it is nice to get a good one once in a while... Happy mowing..
Quick tip for you mate . Pull on pullcord slowly once you feel it go solid (compression stroke) leave it there and you’ll be able to turn mower on it’s side as the exhaust port will be closed by the piston (stopping the oil) 👍 Great channel I do the same but only with saws
Hi Mick, just bought one of these mowers and it was exactly the same, it wouldn't keep running and when it did it was constantly hunting, I watched your video and then tackled the job. It's now running great 👍
@@JimmyBenfield leave a comment like that again and you will be blocked.. a comment like that from someone who has no videos or content seems a little harsh... Maybe try and do a video yourself and see how easy it is..
I picked up one of these for £20 on gumtree because it wouldn't start. Can of carb cleaner for £4 and followed your video. It now runs beautifully. Thanks.
Here is my channel wish list if you would like to show some support in purchasing some tools or spare parts, it is gratefully appreciated www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/13BO7QKGAZZV2/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2?_encoding=UTF8&type=wishlist
Great video Mick, appreciate it !! Took my carburettor apart( almost identical to the one in your video ) and noticed it didn’t have an o-ring 🤨. It’s worked for 2 years without so hopefully it will run for another 2 lol !! I’ve also bought some of the tools you use. Carb needle cleaning kit and the pick tool. Bought both for under a tenner 😁
Great, trying to fix an issue on mine and this is helping. I'll maybe have to change the gasket on the carburettor so I've ordered a set. Will it need sealant or is the pressure from the air box etc enough?
Great video, I've got the same Mower in the video just about to take the carb apart and noted I've got what looks like grit in the fuel tank. How do you clean your fuel tanks out?
@@themowerman thanks for your reply have you got any videos on removing the fuel tank or is it pretty straight forward. Your videos are very good and very informative.
Ive cleaned everything so much and mine still cuts out. The gasket seals on the carb are awful though, could the lack of pressure mean fuel wont move through?
Hi Mick, (just so ya know the camera couldn't see some of what you were doing but got the jist of it. Now for the question. I bought a new carb for mine and it came with a filter, is it an issue to cut the fuel pipe from tank to carb and add said filter in ?
I've got a 2007 briggs and stratton 650 series 190cc that does something similar, but mine only cuts out once the engine gets hot after about 10 minutes. It starts once cooled down after a few minutes but then cuts out once again when hot. Any idea of the cause? Faulty ignition coil, worn piston rings perhaps? It's recently had a carb service so doubt its that. Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
@@themowerman hiya mick just cleaned the carby again and the low idle jet with micro drill and still cuts out after like 10/20 seconds, reckon it’s a fuel problem im bloody stuck
I was checking out what the price of these mowers had gone up to now and they are the price of what the 45cm SP454 models were about three years ago (well over £200 now). So if you can clean the carburettors out on these and replace the useless Torch plugs and avoid using standard E10 pump fuel these mowers should run many years.
@Micks Mowers The Mower Man decent spev ride on mowers are at the £7,000 mark now but I hate to say it they are being replaced by robotic mowers due to the lazy tech generation. Being 31 and literally being brought up my life with petrol mowers and gardening equipment I am unsure of this new era of battery and technology. Even my love of cars has disappeared due to electrification of near enough everything.
Hi bud great vid i was having the same problem cleamed the carb twice(or so i thought) nut was still having the issue although mine took few starts and stalls then itd run fine, but after seeing your vid i hadnt cleamed a few bits so will be doin it again today, one thing though, where did you buy your needle file sets from pls?
As soon as I saw it was a chonda engine I thought idle jet!!! You say about a new plug helping with running, staying away from E10 fuel is a good move too, chondas don't like it!
It be real nice if you wood hold what you are working on on t j e camera so we could see what you are doing why would you need a camera if you don't show that you are talking about
Informative but FFS Mick, please learn to edit, both words & video! This is about 20 mins too long. Also, couldn't see the carb for a big chunk of what you were talking about. Having said that, keep up the good work.
Just looked at the video.. lots of good close ups and transitions from one clip to another. I did mention I was trying out a new camera stand of which I will not be using again.. as I can't see the camera view.. I will continue to improve but I'm just a guy in a shed.. not in a studio with a camera man.. but thanks for the positive comment.
@@themowerman it's a valuable resource, Mick & I appreciate it. I'm about to do this job on an identical mower & I'll have this vid on standby for reference. I know it's a tough thing to do & I don't doubt you get better the more you do it. Sorry if I sounded a bit mean, wasn't meant that way. You know your stuff! All the best.
Unable to see exactly what he did to clean the carburetor due to the camera was not center correctly on the carburetor... so this video most the part was useless trying to learn from it.
