Hey guys, this is my first time shooting a video and doing any kind of video editing. I aim to create much more content that I am sure you will all enjoy, but we all have to start somewhere :).
The reason I purchased this camera is so that I can make more videos... as I said in the video the lens was quite stiff to use. So I decided it was the perfect opportunity for a first video.
though this video is of a Panasonic Lumix G7 Kit Lens the same principle will apply to most other lenses on the market. I'm no professional photographer and I don't work for Panasonic so this isn't my profession, though I managed the job with ease.
I specialise in engine work... well actually anything to do with cars, from building a single seater racing car to engine rebuilding, I've been involved in many projects throughout my life and I think its about time I started recording them for others to enjoy :)
Please support me by subscribing to my channel as I am filming other projects currently that I know you will all love, plus I can only justify this if people actually watch my videos.
Thanks for taking your time to read this and I look forward to creating the next video! :)

Watching this has made me realize I shouldn't try this myself 😅 There's no chance I'm not gonna break a ribbon cable or get grease on the glass.

I would not use vaseline instead of pro grease. The vaseline will dry out when it‘s too cold or even just warm, and then start crumbling little bits onto your lens elements. If it‘s really hot, it‘ll liquify and get into other parts as well.

Did the lens dissolve or gum up it can fog the lens too.

Honestly: I would not dare to lubricate even my cheapest plastic lens with vaseline! Vaseline will begin to get fluid typically between 38 and 58 degrees Celsius, so if you're taking a photo walk in the bright summer sun, maybe during your vacancies, it might happen that the vaseline distributes itself all over your lens internals, including glass elements. I guess you might want to avoid that.

He sounds like he's from the UK, it will never get above 38 degrees celcius there, let alone 58c

What if it feels too loose? The focus ring will not stay in the same spot.

I made this around a year ago and since then I have been between -10 to around 40 degrees Celsius. The lens still feels fine. I can move the camera around and it won't move. The only time it moves is when I move it with my own fingers. 🙂

@@K4133M4HM3D I wanted to buy a camera Panasonic GX80 which came with 14-140mm lens...but I have not bought it due to this ''stiff'' issue....I instead got GX9...but that lens 14-140 I really want...so now after seeing this I am thinking to call the guy just asking if I can buy a lens from him for cheaper and get it fixed myself ! :) Thanks

This is not a good idea. Vaseline is sticky and will collect all dust and dirt over time😮😮
