A little information about this song. Janet liked the song but was unsure of how the general public would like it. It was actually part of an incomplete poem she wrote. Initially the song "Feels So Right" which is my favorite song from the "All For You" album was gonna be the song chosen for the film she starred in "Nutty Professor 2: The Klump" which went no.1 at the box office. I would go into detail about why "Feels So Right" is my fave but i'll just say it holds sentimental value about life in general. She wasn't sure of releasing "Doesn't Really Matter" but an earlier unfinished version leaked on radio and it was receiving good reception so she decided to release the finished version. She was paid a minimum of $1 million upfront for the song. It went to no.1 for 3 weeks becoming her 9th no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also made Janet the first artist in history to have a no.1 song in 3 separate decades.
Great performance, if you can look past the complete lack of any microphone or attempt to make it appear that the vocals were real. Top of the Pops is terrible with that. Of course, the artist doesn't have to agree.
