This is how all canids hunt. They chase their prey until it tires then catch it for the kill. Wolves, coyotes, African painted dogs all do this.

See how it didn’t dispatch it immediately and even eat it, may have been bringing it back to its owner.

The hare didn't exactly look faster than the dog. It was only able to avoid getting caught by the dog cause it was running in zig zags. If it was running in a straight line, the dog def would've caught it much sooner.

A dogs speed is less affected by tall grass as they have long legs, meaning: Both animals can run approximately the same speed in the open, but in tall grass, the dog wins the chase in a few seconds.

Man that boy must’ve been taking some killer acting lessons then. In all seriousness, hares are fast on open ground, unlike rabbits, who are smaller and also good at running through forests. The dog also constantly stood between the hare and the bushes like a wall.
