Our German Shepherd Dog Drinks Water in 4K Slow Motion.
April drinks water in a very funny way, so we filmed her in 4k Resolution slow motion to see exactly what's going on, and the result was very amazing. She's one funny dog and we have been watching her drink her water everyday in this unique way, i was always trying to figure out exactly how she stays under water while swallowing her water at the same time.
In this Slow Motion Video we can see that she actually breathes out of her nose slightly while drinking to keep the water out, seems like a very weird way to drink but that is our german shepherd april.

Spatulated Tongue - she's not breathing...she's holding her breath and forcing small amts of air out to prevent water from coming in; that's why you're seeing bubbles come out. She's learned that if she keeps her snout in the water and laps, she can get way more water in her mouth than if she keeps her snout out, laps and snaps her snout closed over the resulting column of water like a normal dog does...she's very smart and has adapted. I love it :)

I never seen an animal drinking water look so epic. Lol But to answer ur question, no one and nothing breaths and drink at the same time. As u swallow ur epiglottis is covering ur trachea to keep u from drowning while u drink. Notice after u take long gulps u have to stop and get a breath? That's why. Hope that helps. She probably drinks like that, because she figured out at one point in her young life how to get more water into her faster. Either learned or by accident/experiment. And she blows the water out of her nose to avoid aspiration. Just a weird habit to get more water, I think.

That is the only way my Doberman knows how to drink water from a bowl (he also drinks from a hose). And sometimes he leaves his nose in just for fun, to make bubbles from the nose. I also thought it was strange in the beginning, but laughed to the floor!

All dogs scoop up water using their tongue rolled under backwards. They just do it so fast that it's hard to detect unless it's in slo mo. It's like a small built in cup. They all drink water that way. Strange. They could be holding their breath, but the cup the back of their toungues, not the front as what I thought for many years. In some of the early shots when the bowl was full I thought they drew in water from their whole mouths. And as the water level went down they cupped their toungues backwards. Strange, but that works for them I guess!

This is really inspirational, I ran into my kitchen in a speed that I never did before, got the cup with my five fingers, 18% the hot tab, 78% cold tab just like always.. i always get it extra cold but this time I nailed the temperature, my esophagus never felt such sensations before.. I sniffed through the water while drinking it I probably had like 6 swallows from the cup of water before I left nothing but wet air in that cup. And as always, never forget that nice finish by sliding my right forearm across my wet lips while my left is in work of returning the cup to it's place.. it felt so perfect and great. Thanks to everyone who supported me

@@WarpedYT The dog doesn't breathe underwater while drinking, because he just pulled out his nose after some time. If you wonder why he bites the water after linking it: The dog pulls his tongue back up after dipping (???) it. When he does that the water is pushed upwards, following his tongue. He then bites it to catch it then swallow it, I tried doing that before when I was a kid ( ik that was childish xD ) but it didn't work to me because my tongue isn't thin (If you saw how thin the dog's tongue was) and it doesn't move like a very very smooth napkin (???) so that's why it doesn't work for humans :) You're welcome.

A red German Shepherd owned me for 10 years out in the Australian outback... Best dog id ever been mates will . He'd have a cuppa coffee with me in the morning and a beer a night. Great video and very cute dog! as a student in uni and 2 years away from being a Veterinarian, I believe the answer is pretty simple. She probably prefers drinking water that way because she can drink more at once and she holds her breath while doing it since her snout is underwater for a short period of time. The tiny bubbles coming from her nose coincide with when she makes a ''snarl'' gesture or moves her snout which liberates whatever air is left in the nasal cavity, since there still is a pocket of air left in there. If she were blowing air out the bubbles would be larger and with much higher frequency, plus it is not possible to blow out while swallowing water. There is not enough evidence as to assume it is caused by a gene or an adaptation, as this would require an extensive study of genetics and ethology of her and her predecessors.
