Dog hilariously realizes he's not home alone 

It's very interesting to see how similar the look of surprise and the "huh?" body language are in dogs and in humans and other animals, which makes sense when you think of evolution and how all species are cousins.

For instance, their eyebrow muscles are more developed than wolves, allowing them to express their emotions in a way humans can more easily understand. On the flip side, there are some changes that were brought about directly by humans through selective breeding. Hence why we have abominations like the Chihuahua.

​@@krismatic_a good amount of it comes from dogs being bred to be companions for thousands of years. They even have "eyebrows" that wolves do not because it was realized it helped them communicate with humans better. So the more expressive the eyebrows, the more likely your line was to continue

I once flicked a spider off my leg accidentally straight into my dog’s face. I swear he just freaked and started pawing at his face and shaking his head like “augh! Get it off! Get it off!!” I laughed so hard it was such a human reaction 😂

Yeah, I know that many will call me a Karen, but I don't care, because this dog's behaviour is sad and should be treated. To stay right at the door like that with this scream ... this dog CLEARLY has huge loads of separation anxiety. God knows how long he does that when he's left alone and there's no one to film him. There's nothing funny here, just a poor, sad dog.

@@withnail-and-i Leaving dogs alone is not an issue in itself, IF you teach them that it's ok when you leave. Dogs are adaptable and intelligent animals, they can very easily understand that you're gonna come back, that they don't have to worry about your absence and that they don't need you to entertain themselves. Teaching them all of this is actually really easy, but many dog owners don't even take this into account.

i moved my home cam to the living room when i had to drive somewhere and back for an hour, and my poor boy was howl-whining every 2 minutes, cycling between the door, my bed, and his bed. Poor thing

I know I heard somewhere that dogs perceive time much differently than humans so however long it was that the dog was howling while she was upstairs can be much, much longer to the dog.

@@cursedhawkins1305 My dogs are the same way. Sometimes I call them from my bedroom to let them know I'm still there, but they barely react to it so I usually come out to remind them anyway. I wonder if they perceive my muffled calls as a "Sometimes, I can still hear his voice..." type of deal.

That's what happens when dogs are given too much affection. Yes there is such a thing, and it's why some dogs develop coping issues like over barking, over eating, destructive chewing. Dogs need order and discipline as much as they need love and affection, otherwise you end up with nervous dogs with separation anxiety, or a sad mopey dog who doesn't know what to do with itself without you around. I hope one day we can recognise that too much of a good thing can also be bad, and that people who over-love their pets are held to account just as a neglectful owner or over feeding owner would be. They are not babies.

I put in a house cam and was showing my coworker what it looked like, when I turned it on my cat was walking around meowing at the top of her lungs looking for me. I started checking and she did it every day.

to be fair, they dont know where we're going. its not like they'd understand if we told them so to them they're being abandoned lol but then we come back and they get happy again so its ok :)

It helps with my cats for sure. I have to keep my door closed when I go to bed because they'll keep me up all night if I don't, and the music keeps them from scratching at my door all night long

I’ve tested this, and it works. I have 2 cameras that I observe my dog on, and she is FAR more relaxed with the music playing. As opposed to barking at every sound she hears, or restlessly wandering the apartment.

My Mum used to leave her favourite radio station on. I guess she was pretty smart. Mum was a professional breeder, trainer, handler and groomer in the ‘60s and ‘70s. When I was little, for the skittish dogs, she would ask me to stand beside the grooming table and just stay calm. It was neat that they did calm down and stand still with me there. They’d go home looking “brand-spanking new” as she’d say. 🐩

The almost better solution is having two of them!!

@@chiberjuberdourado2487 It’s wonderful. I’m not talking about one of the expensive digital frames either although those are cool. Just a simple coin sized battery operated frame. Maybe $10. It’s one of my most cherished possessions. I also put some of his ashes inside a necklace urn. It’s shaped like a mini silver, glass hourglass (or gold, if preferred) and the ashes can fall through to the bottom and back like a real one. It’s precious and I get a lot of compliments and questions about it.

We lost our big pup yesterday, heart broken. Just keeps coming in waves of grief.
