I made one for Diezal, my 11 yr old baby that looks identical to Lobo, so this video warmed my heart. His hind legs and overall energy has dropped a bit since my father passed last July. I am grateful this was able to inspire my project as a woman who isn't typically handy, and bring ease to Diezal before his vet appointment. God bless you, and best wishes.
Two 1 foot wide, 1/2 thick boards... 6 feet long to fit in the back of my vehicle. (It is a high vehicle.) Long piano hinge screwed on, so it folds. I glued playground mat to it for traction. (Sliced it down the middle to allow for folding.) That worked very well including in winter. Don't bother with the eyelets and chain to hold in place. Wasn't needed. Served my dog well for over two years up until his recent passing. Train the dog to use it before he or she needs it. Good luck!
Good idea. No clue why people dislike it? People in Animal rescue always up to DIY and that is awsome and sturdy especially when you have a big Dogs or real German Shepherd ! ( Im German. I would know) You did a good Job.
Great idea and so simple to build. I have a 6 yr old Dane with osteoarthritis. I'm sure this design will hold her 120lbs. You just helped make road trips a lot easier. Thanks for sharing
So sorry to hear Lobo passed. thank you, excellent design. struggling to make/buy stable ramp, my husky Tucker, who is actually part "lobo", has always been super phobic of any unstable surface. If it wobbles even slightly, he freaks!
I am delighted that you make the life easier for Lobo. Very good job. Thanks for sharing this video and Have a wonderful weekend with Lobo, Kitcat and Squirrel.
I want one like this kind that folds after use.... to put on the apartment stairway for use. German Shepherd looks like my Maya. I want it to fold towards you - in box like-folded. Each box is panel screwed..(that you use on your side doors)
I'm driving a lifted tacoma. How much did it cost you to build that? I went to Petco yesterday looking for a ramp and the guy told me to just build one. great idea.
Great idea for a truck but not an SUV, it is too long. I am going to make one that folds in the middle but not long ways. In order to keep it from collapsing I am going to hinge it so that the two pieces form a butt type joint in the middle and brace against each other. Same as you only mine will be about five to six feet long extended and half that folded.
I'm so sorry about your baby..my Labrador is 14.5 and she will not get in my SUV anymore I have to take her to the vet tomorrow I don't know how I'm going to get her and I wonder if I could build something like this myself
