Agree 100%! Ironically, it’s Tuni who’s almost too pure for this world not the humans. People need to educate themselves about this much maligned breed. Some of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever seen are pitties! 💕

Bullies are great family dogs and are extremely protective of their people so we need train and socialize them so that they won't over react to surprises.

She's a wonderful dog, sweet, lovable, and she'd probably always be safe around people. This makes me want a sweet bullie, too. But I had an experience when one attacked my sweet dog and almost killed him; only by emergency surgery we could not afford, did he survive the rips and the deep hole in his chest. So I pay attention to the warnings, and try to evaluate, on a case by case basis. The fears of instability are real, based on something real, but they are probably over-extended, people not knowing where to draw the line. Just the same, that's a wonderful dog. It is a shame that sometimes they are feared unfairly..

Let’s be honest. These dogs are amazing on every level. Abused, strapped to rape devices, teeth pulled so they cand fight back, chained up beaten, you name it and when they are rescued they just love being loved

Honestly, i feel like crying because my uncle is a little too harsh with his pittie sometimes and locks him up in the cage because they have a baby daughter. That led to him being aggressive, and in a loop. I feel so bad for gunner, i hope he gets a second change somehow.

@@ouncerton you do know that putties escape all the time. They often make their way to people that aren’t monsters. I’ve never caged a dog in my life. It’s cruel. Put them in a small bathroom or something. Don’t make them sit there and watch the family enjoying themselves. You sound young. Don’t be afraid. You can do this. Contact a rescue

I've said this before: ignore the haters because they've obviously never known any Pitbull. This breed can be the sweetest, kindest, Funniest!! breed there is. Thank you so much for showing Petunia what having a dog is all about -- not keeping them chained up 24/7 for years and years. Why have a dog if you don't let it dog??? You are totally right! I have a pit/boxer mix and he's such a clown and so loving, when we go to the vet he thinks he's there to play with the other dogs and whines at the nurses and others to pet him. They are the sweetest 🥰

Thank you for adopting Tuni! We have had two pitties in our life, they are the most loving dogs ever, and I will miss them forever! It's a shame that people are so afraid of them, because there is definitely something special about this breed.

@LifeofBeauty K like you said it isn't the dogs that are the problem though it is the way they are raised. Dogs can't talk so we have no way of knowing why they react the way they do. I actually had a neighbor with a rottweiller that sat with me every day. One day he lashed out at me and "nipped" my face. Had I been a child it would of been disastrous. I was black and blue for a while but he was just letting me know he was in pain. He didn't mean to hurt me, he just was telling me "Don't do that, it hurts" cause I bent down and kissed his ear and it hurt. No one could believe that when I returned from the urgent care, all I was concerned about was seeing him and letting him know that I was ok and that he wasn't in trouble. He was just speaking in the only way he could. People forget pets don't have a voice.

I started to cry when I heard that she was outside in the South Dakota winters for 6 years. I Love this woman who turned her sad life into one of a princess. Pitbulls are resilient but I wish they didn't have to be due to humans.

I have her look alike but my girl is white and gray. She was dumped on top of a mountain on the highway after (i suppose) being a backyard breeder. I bet she was a great mama but those days are over. She's my best friend and I too tell her I love her ALL the time!

Sadly, people do think with a bias view, but there are us who have experienced dogs like Petunia, we know just because they look a certain way, doesn't mean they are. For me, dogs like her are the sweetest, kindest, gentlest and most loving. Thank you for sharing her story and giving her a beautiful life. 💖💖

They never forget. Dogs who have truly gone through it never forget. 2 of my recent dogs I pulled from similar situations. Both were rescued at about 3 years old, one was just neglected and left outside to rot. The other was literally chained to a tree her entire life similar to Tuni. Once they were with me, I had them both for 13 years each, having lost them at the age of 16 (a lab mix and an english pointer, not typically long-living dogs). I lost them in Oct of 20 and 21 respectively. They both came with some trauma from their experiences, like the pointer did not get along with other dogs but loved all people, especially kids (similar to Tuni). What helped ground them was their oblivious, tolerant, and loving younger sister, a GSD mix who is still with me at the age of 15. She more than anything helped reform these 2 and her reward is being incredibly spoiled in her retirement.

Oh that's so great! Love Petunia! She's just a velvety, land hippo. I used to live right around that Minneapolis area where Second Hand Hounds is (it's outside of Mpls, I think). People can be real idiots! Your girl is beautiful, I know that I always ask if I can pet if the owner doesn’t cross the street or other wise warn me off. The best thing ever is to have a pup put their head into my hands, and let me love on them a little. Dogs are gifts, so glad you found her and she you, what a great relationship you two have. 🥰
