But the majority of those songs were in the 90’s, that’s why when we see young brothers like this bringing back the sound, we also see hope. About rappers talking about murdering each other, you need to realize that most of these rappers grew up in a horrible environments where death and ignorance was common thing. Plus the black community in general hasn’t had a good role model to in decades, the last good role model they had was Huey P Newton, but he also died to the street life in 1989. And like Polo G said, when there no more heroes, you look up to the villains. So when you have a whole generation of young black men growing up to violence,ruthlessness, and police brutality, with no role models to teach them to stay away. You birth people like N.W.A, Wu-tang Clan, and Ice-T. Which at the time wasn’t really considered “ Gangsta Rap” but was called “Reality Rap” because they were showing everyone the reality of what people who grew up in these communities were going through aka “what growing up black was like” which was (gangs,violence, and police brutality). Now I will admit that Rap nowadays is very detrimental to the youth. But the main reason we cherish rap in the 90’s is not only because they were just more lyrically talented, but they had better messages. That’s why when I see classic rap like this, it makes me smile. There’s no Women shaking their ass, no guns, just westcoast lyrical talent.
