My 110 lb. German Shepherd would know when we got off the freeway. If we turned right he was happy because we were going to my in-laws house. If we turned left it meant the vet and he would be nervous and get that awful smell. At the vet he would jump up on my lap and when vet walked in he would pee. This started happening after he was poisoned by our neighbor who had been systematically killing all of the large dogs in the neighborhood. Our boy survived. We spent all of our honeymoon money to save him. So worth it!

There is a reason the vet had to pump your dogs stomach, that's traumatic for a dog. That sucks too because we had a neighbor do that to our chow when I was younger. I now have a 7 month old 100 lbs caucasian Shepard.

My dog is lucky. The vet comes to us. We get her shots done when we have the horses done. No rural vet office wants 7 different horses and a dog in their clinic at the same time.

My dog pickles HATES the vet. Every time we get back, she’ll purposely lay far away from mom (who’s her favorite) and pout with a “i’m so mad at you right now” glare. She also will pretend to shiver when she’s outside even when it’s like 70° out 😂

My dogs cool about going to the vets, shoots no promblem ,but taking her temperature is a no go , she sits with her tail clamped down and the vet literally has to pry her tail up.

if you want you dog to like going to vet it starts with you make out that the vet is a good place allways get vet to treat them every visit . my dogs every one of them near rip my arm off to get into car to go to vet and even ones not sick want to go too my dog get excited at even the mention of vet

I always tell my dog when we are going to go to the vet and she gets so happy because one of the staff members there was her caretaker at the animal shelter before we adopted her. Her reaction everytime they see each other is priceless 😂

I never told my furry friends they were going to the vet. My dog was excited to go anywhere there might be other dogs. My cats just didn't like being in the car, but once there, they LOVED my vet, her relaxing accupuncture or light treatments, and were mellow the whole way home.

I used to work at a vet clinic and my favorite patient had to be when a dog got into someone's weed supply. They had to flush him out and let it get out of his system but for about 3 or 4 hours he literally just stared into space with his tongue hanging out. All you needed was a lava lamp in the corner. He was seeing aztec temples and shit. It was hilarious. The most chill patient i've ever seen.

There could be a number of reasons. Plain nervousness. Some don't like their vets. Some don't like being touched or poked by people they're not used to. And unfortunately, some dogs have bad experiences with vets not treating them right. Some love them and don't mind.

My dogs loved going to the vet because one (Athena, lost her this past June at 18yo) was obsessed with treats and the other (Sweeney, currently 15yo) is obsessed with attention. Their vet and the staff have been so good with them and have always been ready with both.

Probably because they make a fuss about it and keep going vets vets vets. My dog goes to the vets no problem, we don’t make a fuss beforehand and she’s never had issues going. I mean yeah anxiety and nervousness can be a reason too but a lot of the times people just make a fuss about it and cause unnecessary issues.

Half of these people suck. They're filming their dogs shaking and panting instead of comforting them. That's the equivalent of filming your child cry or in distrss instead of, you know, being a parent. It's even worse when the dog knows the word cause you know that means they sat and taunted the dog for a laugh. Dogs don't understand humor, so it's not funny for them when you tease them. Good owners understand this. Glad you got your clout at your dog's expense though 🙄

When we took my great Dane she was growling at the nurses and when the doctor came in he was like no give me the leash so mom gave him the leash and she got out of the room and after mom went out of the room the Doctor didn't have any problems she didn't growl bite nothing she was just protecting her mama♡♡
