Referenced this video as an AMT working at a major airline 😂 someone broke a piece of the turnbuckle clip inside the barrel during removal so I couldn’t use the clip method. Last time I safetied a turnbuckle with lock wire was 7 years ago at A&P school.
A very Safe and Efficient method.....But the ends of the locking wire is just sitting there waiting to stick to someone's clothing or tools thus unwinding the loops on the turn buckle or even excessive vibration can start to unwind the loops.
The approved methods all involve wrapping the ends like that. Only other option is turnbuckles that allow a safety clip. They don’t come unwrapped. They are not located were you are snagging them. This has been an approved method damn near forever. Only thing wrong is how annoying it is to do turnbuckles inside an airllane
+jreynolds21 Because a common inspection method for finding broken strands on a cable is to run a rag along it to snap on the broken strand. If there is no pigtail, the rag can undo the whole wrap. And on military aircraft, this is unacceptable.
