Your after shooting target analysis is super helpful. Its good to hear you process the information out loud so we can add to our own analyses of our targets.

the racing analogy fits your on an annual series of contests. You compete in a modified or open class woking towards a factory team championship. note: i used to race a 57 Studebaker Lark in small sedan races for The original Team Bear.

seeing clickers on ejection when you run the bolt slowly (4:55 seconds is one) Something I've been fighting also. Erik's Version 1 die seems to be helping. There's an excellent tune window around 2865 fps also. I am in the process of testing it against my 2920 load.
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 6 месяцев назад
Yeah I was testing another die. Erik's .535 die eliminated clickers for me as well. And yes, you are in the two nodes that everyone is having luck with. Everyone I know in the game is shooting ether 2920 or 2960.

*raises hand* Everything there looks good to me but, my mind went straight to that jamb. Once I pull my 180 out of the barrel, my speeds are going to change. Will that knock me out of the test I just did or will I just need to adjust powder to get back to said speed? I usually re-visit my tunes anyway but that is where my mind went. I know sometimes long loading can help with new brass seated on the bolt face but we usually don't load develop with unfireformed $1.50 piece of brass.(unless we know it's @ 2 thou) I like to see that you are testing in 40 degree weather. I get scared it's a waist of components since I'm usually shooting in 70-90.

On another video I saw you shooting withVV 555. It seemed the 57 grain load was 2,6xx fps?

Hi John! I was really looking forward for this video and thank you for sharing this! If I understood correctly you are shooting at 100yds and actually I was expecting some more vertical displacement between groups. Would you consider your differences in powder charge (0.1grs) "small" and not relevant for vertical position on target? Also - at 100yds it seems that most groups are between 0.5 and 1 MOA - what would be your next steps after checking velocity to further develop your loads? TY and best regards!
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 6 месяцев назад
Thank you. At 100 the vertical dispersion is very minor, even with larger gaps in powder charge. You have to spend time at 100 to really get the most out of it. I do other testing at 600 and 1000 after this. If you're interested in this kind of testing and more of the details you might want to check out my patreon.com/fclassjohn when you can message me directly or participate in livestreams where are cover all kinds of member questions in depth.

Please on your next testing leave a note about the Garmin and the AndiScan with the new firmware. I would like to hear your feedback. I have both devices and can compare it also (right now from a technical point of view I do know which one I should recomend - both a great and have their own special features which the other one does not have), but you have much more experience.
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 6 месяцев назад
The new AndiScan firmware is actually really good. To be fair he made it so there's different ways of picking up bullets. The new one works like the Garmin and he also made a screen mode that is larger and easier to read.

How many rounds do you get through a barrel before load developing? Or do you develope a load right out of the gate and it stays the same?
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 6 месяцев назад
Typically I'll put something like 30-50 through it and then start up. Nothing ever stays the same no matter how many rounds go through a barrel. So I just start working it up and make adjustments along the way as needed.

As usual, you provide education rather than product- thank you. Q1-Novice question, “how many sighters/foulers are adequate before shooting for data or for record?” Q2; I’ll never get to your level, just shooting in sporter league with a 204…. Added use of a Xero C1. Sitting on the indoor bench it misses shots even when situated under the barrel and only 12-15 inches from the muzzle. Yours appears to be at least that far back, mounted on your rest. Any thoughts why? Thanks.
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 6 месяцев назад
Thank you. I try to provide a balance of videos and glad you enjoy them. As for the questions. 1)There's no set number. You just get a feel for when the gun is ready. Most of the time is' 4-6 rounds for me but I've had less and certainly had more. Of course there's matches where it's 2 sighters and that's all so you have to obviously make those count a lot more. 2)I don't know. I haven't had any issues with mine so far in any position and neither have my friends but maybe there's something about the way your range is designed that it's preventing it from getting a good read?? If it persists, I would email Garmin. While unlikely, there's always a chance it's not working right. Other than that have you tried other positions to see if it's working correctly and then work your way back to where you really want to keep it. Sometimes that helps.
@jwschroeder804
@jwschroeder804 6 месяцев назад
@@FClassJohn as for the Garmin, it seems the indoor arrangement influences the reading. The closer to the muzzle the better the chance of getting a reading. Still experimenting but value your insight. I know Garmin will stand by it while I collect more observations.

The slight heavy bolt close it looks like you are having. Is that slight crush of headspace on the brass or is that the cock on close of the Borden action?
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 6 месяцев назад
Actually neither. It's from my bullets being seated beyond hard jam so I was 'seating' them just a bit.
