I honestly bet this is more about the fact that you aren't used to seeing your hands that predominantly in photos. So it's like "wait is that what my hands look like?" They become one of the focal points in mirror pics and are closer to the lens. I super recommend taking a ton of mirror photos and you will probably start to pay less attention to your hands/ you will find a way that you are okay with your hand looking because practice really does help in photography. And just delete the ones you hate but also figure out what you don't like about the ones you hate and how you can change that. You could also try to go for a technique like this where you don't have the phone/camera in frame. It's definitely harder though to get that angle.... I take picture for the whole family, my sisters my parent I literally made a full album for each of them, and then because I'm the youngest nobody wants to take my pictures T_T

I always position the camera where i want i it, under angles i think would be flattering. Then i let somebody take the picture without moving the phone, check if i like it, move the phone if necessary, and that's it Hope this helps
