The decision almost always lies with the company unless it’s some personal issues like health and injury. If it were his choice, he would’ve stayed and simply apologised profusely (despite the perpetrator breaking korean defamation laws and sharing private things). If you’re involved in a serious scandal, your company removes you until it blows over/gets a bit better OR they fire you. You don’t get a say, they literally are on slave contracts and own their lives, don’t be so naive, kpop is a terrible and controlling industry, rookies are the bottom of the pyramid when it comes to making decisions and we’re dealing with SM, the people who used to force trainees to get surgery otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to debut. He hasn’t been kicked, that’s what you got right, but it was NOT up to him and if he had made a fuss, he would’ve been removed permanently. SM has you wrapped around their dick, they are doing this for PR and media and to save face for themselves, you’d be naive to think a company like SM of all people give a flying fuck about their rookies like that. So far, he seems safe and will probably come back if they ever give them a full album
