hello everyone, thank you so much for watching my vlogs!! always grateful and here are some explanations on what nyungne means😊
it is a tibetan and bhutanese term referring to a particular Buddhist fasting and purification practice. It is commonly performed over two days and involves fasting, prostrations, meditation, and recitation of prayers and mantras, typically focusing on the deity Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the embodiment of compassion.
The practice includes:
day1 : A single vegetarian meal is consumed before noon, with the rest of the day dedicated to meditation, prayer, and prostrations.
day2 : Complete fasting from food and drink, often accompanied by silence, along with continued prayer and prostrations.
day3: Concluding Nyungne Practice at 5:00 a.m with a soup.
Nyungne is believed to purify negative karma, accumulate merit, and develop compassion.
