Maybe I'm being a little short-sighted here, but in my experience the times that my ex-wife wanted to "emotionally vent" were issues that she already knew how to solve BEFORE coming to me. Her knowing how I am, how could she be so surprised when my answer was "well if you know how to solve the issue, why complain about it?" "Why not just solve it and make it go away?" Her answer was always "I just want to vent about it because it's not fair"

I used to argue and yell every single time i got home from work she would be yelling at me for something, one day i just got tired of it and didnt yell or argue back, she then started breaking my stuff, eventually she started punching me in the chest and slapping my face, one time she threw a 3/4 inch wrench at me and it glanced off my head, then one day she tried to slash me with a box knife razor, chased me around the kitchen table with it. Yeah she has many different children and has been divorced a few times now and is a counciler for "battered and abused women". I gave her everything she wanted and never hurt her. PSYCHO.

I think this works both ways actually Anna. Being as I am single, and I don't have enough money to date (okay, I'm not sure that having money would improve that), I have to make do with my parents for close communication. (Or rather my mother ans my father hardly ever has anything to say.) I would often confide in my mother, but find her wanting to fix the problem, when really I only wanted her to listen.

Yeah, I have a lot of my namesakes nasty stuff Anna. I never had any confidence in my ability to even get to first base by my own efforts. I did use dating agencies for a while (before they were fashionable and when they were generally regarded as the option for losers) and it wasn't all bad, though I gave up on it. Apparently it's a minefield nowadays. I am almost proud to say that despite approaching a number of women in the ten year period from age 25, I never persuaded one to go on a date. Women that I thought might be interested just scared me too much. I'm always alone and despite many many years of trying to fix myself. I'll probably never be married now, but I still find some solace in your videos Anna. Thank you.

Mom definitely had her problems. Almost everything, especially in her later years, was a "guilt trip" to get what she wanted. Not as bad as *her* mother, but bad enough that when she died, none of her grandchildren, and almost all of my siblings really wanted nothing to do with her. ( outside of obligation ) Recognizing and *not* being attracted to that behavior has taken an effort. ( and time ) She did love, in her own way, but it had its affects.

my partner was affectionate, attentive, and fun up untill we moved in together, this small sweet woman ignored conversations, intimacy, criticism was her go to place, she hated my snoring, she hated kissing, hugs, once after sex i told her " i love you, she responded " you ruined it !

Anna great stuff! I suffer from communication mishaps even if I am thinking I am quite articulate. I don't even notice that I become upset when I am called to fix someting! and my wife starts raising her voice too but for a different reason as you described it very well! and we have to shutdown any communication to prevent further escalating. And after I fix the problem (sometimes difficult like car breakdown in the middle of the woods) my wife comes to me with a thank you kiss. And both of us are asking why both of us need to yell for no reason. You are a blessing for many of us.

Men are hard wired to solve problems. Women with problems that call men really primarily want to talk about the problem for emotional support and solving the problem is a more secondary concern. Men (including me) unfortunately don't usually understand this but I do now. It's just called listening really. Also, if you’re looking at other women when you’re with her, she’s going to take it that you’re looking for another woman. That you’re not happy with your relationship with her. This came directly from my ex-wife. So when you’re with her pay attention to her don’t pay attention to the others walking down the street.

Lovely episode - I can only say (man-wise) - that if a person (in this case a woman) keeps on doing the same thing that seems to fail - again and again and again - even when a person (a man) has suggested a workaround upfront that simply seems to be ignored from the other party's (a woman) side - it's simply mental torture or mental highjack of the other party listening.... I can also be so "rude" to say - the person has not been educated within cause vs. effect ....as a guy there is a limit of how many times you want to hear the same mistakes other party's are doing and simply listen to the failures again and again and again....this is not a gender thing - to be with intelligent people is a thrill, why suffer to be part of emotional rollercoaster rides, unless your life is boring and you need challenges ;-)

I broke my wifes heart. It wasnt anything I did, it was from being an absent husband. She would have forgiven me of almost anything. I should have been more supportive. Now Im in my 50s and worried there are so fewer days ahead than there are behind but Im still a man and dont want to be alone. I cant function as a bachelor. My wife was my anchor that kept me here but I was not there for her when she needed me most. I dont want to be alone and dont want to make the same mistakes going forward. Therapy is rough because I have to accept all my faults as they are and deal with them. Not an easy time.

Personally , none of us do these things , however , on June 19 she told me it was best we remains « friends » because she didn’t felt good anymore and she didn’t know why, neither do I (while being frustrated , sad , confused , angry etc) so my first thoughts was to use logic on her like « you’ve falled in love with me first , so it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever» , but instead , I said I understand her decision if it has to be like that, and that’s it , giving her space for herself, still said I was disappointed tho. 3 months later she’s even more into me more than never , « friends » , yeah sure 😅 , that’s not what I see from my perspective, I don’t understand why she do that, was it a test and I did passed it or something ? Only god would know😂

@@YourWingmam Look at Canadian soft drinks vs US ones. If what ive been told is true,Yours have real sugar like ours did until the early 1990s. Right after they switched to corn syrup as a sweetener,obesity became the new normal here.And by 2005 ephedrine was pulled from the shelves at the same time large sugary,salty energy drinks were being marketed.

Sadia Khan barely leaves a crack open in the door to her marriage, lest someone come in and take that love away. That makes sense. Here though is something about my wife: I don’t think she knows what she wants to make her happy. I really don’t think she can picture/imagine happy in her mind. Exactly what that would feel like and the way that she can get there. I don’t know where she lost it or if she ever had it. No particular problem is a standout from the way that she grew up. I really do not know. Trish Leigh, whose energy and attention I just love, were it not for the amorphous bullshit, says when she dies, she wants to be all of the woman she was meant to be. She doesn’t want to see another woman standing in her shoes, where she should be standing. Yes, picture spinning the tale of your life to your Grandchild. Imagine how that feels.

We men would also love to vomit our feelings, emotions, problems, etc., etc., etc., at least SOMETIMES onto a woman, especially one who is our partner. I think the biggest mistake you touched on right at the end. The courting should not stop once you are in the relationship. You should continue to gently tease and flirt, keep all hygiene issues in check, kiss and 'I love you' in the morning before you go, place her above your friends, all of it. You are no longer competing for her love, you are now nurturing it. You don't stop watering a plant once it flowers.

One of the things I learned in life is to make a much more significant effort to not raise my voice to my wife. It never makes things better. Sometimes, you have to break down things for women and let her understand that when you do raise your voice, it is just because you are agitated, not because you are mad at them. They are very sensitive to being yelled at. Some will yell back and others will break down and cry and you don't want either of those, especially if you have a vindictive woman that will try to get revenge.

The part about not taking responsibility really resonated with me. This reminds me of the self-serving bias-where we tend to blame others for failures while taking credit for successes. I saw a friend go through a rough patch in his marriage, constantly attributing their problems to his partner’s flaws. It wasn’t until he recognized his own role in the conflict that they were able to start healing. Ownership is everything in relationships.

My parents had a lousy relationship. I grew up with the notion that whatever my marriage would look like, I couldn't let it resemble what I grew up with. There was a very old couple at church that had a very loving relationship that had gone on for half a century -- that became the goal for me! In my own marriage, it took me a long time to learn not to "fix" my wife's issues. The discordant part is that my wife expected me to fix her issues with ME, but not her issues with anything else! To a man, the fact that she wants me to provide comfort -- but not fixes -- to her during a fixable situation, but she expects me to fix my action/attitude for situations involving me makes NO SENSE! If it's broken, FIX IT!!! Good topic today! Biggest “terminating events” for me: 1. Start referring to MY property as “our” property, 2. Start the covert “move in” by leaving items at my place. 3. Start organising my interactions with my family. 4. Start demanding I organise my schedule to suit her convenience.

Ladies under stand that when you vent your problems and require your man to remain silent and just allow you to, in her words, "vomit" your emotions on him without allowing him to help solve the problem it is very emasculating and emotionally destructive to him. You are doing massive damage to him and your relationship. You will probably notice that the more you do that the more emotionally closed off he becomes from you and the relationship, this is the result of your actions and it does not go away it only gets worse.

By communicate, you mean text message nowadays. Do people actually talk on the phone anymore? Stay away from anyone who can't handle live conversations, or has no clue what "conversation" means. Anyone can be on the other end sending a text message. You have no idea who that might be. A live voice is much easier to tell you are actually talking to the person you think you are talking to. And you get all the wonders of vocal inflections that are totally lost in text messages.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking because you’re going out doing something that’s her hobby. Like when I went to open Mic with my wife and she played music and that was our date night. WRONG!! That is her hobby. Date night needs to be something totally different. And not just dinner somewhere. Dinner and something else even if it’s just a walk. Something you don’t normally do. Something that she likes to do, maybe a float spa.

Sometimes my wife and I talk about the 1979 song "Escape". Who's fault was it that there was an attempt at "cheating" in the song? My wife said the man went to answer a singles add in the newspaper. I said the woman was the person who put the add in the paper, looking for a date. I'm not really a big fan of the song, but it is an interesting debate. Now with John yelling at his wife, yelling is not good but why did his wife trap him with her problem when he is away at work? Equally insensitive and detrimental behavior to yelling, only different. I think most relationships reach a wall. If the people can deal with the wall, they can reach the other side and grow. Relationships are not stagnant, there are challenges.

Like basically that Charlie Brown & Lucy gig where its 'Come on Chuck Kick this ball' and you think "This time it will be different!" but every time she yanks the ball out and flat on your back you go!" Many times with a woman telling her that you understand what you did wrong and what you were responsible for as a mistake that you made works out way better than saying I’m sorry. I’m sorry looks weak. Saying yes, you are correct. I said that and I raised my voice and I shouldn’t have, you are correct. Tell her you are taking deep breaths when she causes you to want to yell. Then put your hands up in the universal stop position and take a few deep breaths to show you are doing this. That shows that you are doing what you’re saying. It also helps you greatly.

For men, you have to always be on guard with your communication to ensure that you understand if she wants something fixed or is she just venting and is the fix what she wants not what you want. She is telling you something that bothers her or is affecting her. Listen to understand. I did not listen to understand. I just listen to the first few words and then jumped on a fix. It wasn’t what she wanted. I wasn’t listening to what she was trying to get across to me. Further down the road when she started asking, did I want to go to marriage counseling? I should’ve immediately said yes instead first I thought our marriage was strong enough. We didn’t need to talk to a counselor. I didn’t understand how upset she was. The next time she mentioned counseling I was worried about my pilot license being revoked. I put my hobby ahead of our relationship. She seen that as our relationship not being important enough to me. I’m divorced.

Guys and women; please stop getting married because society is doing it. It takes 18 months to really know someone and marriage is a technology invented thousands of years ago to protect property. The only reason to marry is for property; otherwise, you are inviting the government into your life with marriage and men you are 90% more likely to pay child support/alimony if you decide to have the woman be a stay-at-home mom/unemployed depending on the state you are in. Lastly; if you come from a divorced set of parents and the other partner's parents have never been divorced; you are twice as likely to get a divorce. When both of you come from divorced parents; you two are 3 times as likely to get a divorce since your capacity to love/understanding of love is something you both observed from your parents. (Remember love is scrafice; no infatuation...love is basically like exercise; it's good for you but it's sacrificing your own happiness for another).
