Every action has consequences, the severity of those consequences just differ. South Korea and Asia in general are pretty prude and favour pureness. Hence why idols usually don’t date, smoke and that kind of stuff to remain ‘pure’. Performing in cabaret in Paris smudges that image, which she and her company should know. Even though it’s her life and her choices, her choices still affect how people feel about her. People can’t just ignore all that. To take it to the extreme, if she murdered someone, because she liked it, would people also have to accept that? No, of course not, so in the same way, people shouldn’t have to ignore her doing something they didn’t like. I’m not saying what she did is right or wrong, but she did what she did and she has to live with the consequences.

I think the reason why people feel like this is controversial is because they perceive idols as infants and have this weird obsession over idols being pure or not. Haters hate others because other people don't agree with them. Haters seek validation; otherwise, why would they waste their precious time on something that doesn't affect their lives? I don't like her recent shift either, but she's a fully grown adult, and she's allowed to make her own decisions. If you don't like it, just move on and come back to your reality to concentrate on your own life.
It's becquse asian companies micromanage every aspect of their idols life and usually don't let them date publicly. Which is pretty scary and has led to suicides.
