Crazy how Sykkuno found his soul main 2 round robins into the Slam. The argument of "If you think Zangief is the best character in the game in the beginner level why don't you just play them" was always on the table, but it took him too long to realize that it actually meant "Just pick up Zangief". Excited for his Zangief on Sunday, especially if he starts destroying people or get 100% destroyed, either outcome will be very exciting.

Unironically learning what geif wants to do and were he struggles by playing him will probably help his matchup against geif more than anything else. He should hold a training session where he just has a bunch of Cammys play against his geif to find what part of Cammy annoys geif the most and then just do that as Cammy.

nah it more that modern zangeif has a really high floor and low ceiling and since sykkuno and serotina are playing classic they at a huge disadvantage at the start of the learning process but instead are learning the core mechanics of the game so they end up much better players in the long run. But if your just trying to win a tournament and never play again (like doki) zangeif puts you at a pretty large advantage but if this was a long term thing doki would get left behind in the long run

Gief has a lot of weaknesses and one of them is closing the gap between him and his opponents. But he's a good counter to beginner players who are aggressive that jumps a lot while throwing random Drive Impacts.

Other game is the same, grappler are usually slower less combo and hit you with heavy high burst dmg attack, Gief is just an extreme example for the archetype, he basicly lower newbie bully but not so much at higher level.

Honestly, all jokes aside, I have never in my entire life saw game so unbalanced to the newer players. Surely every character has their advantages but to be able to literally STOMP all the other characters by pushing only two buttons??? Wat? I’ve been thinking to get into SF6 because I was so inspired by Sky’s progress and now I am just ‘what’s the point? It’s Zangief or suffering for months’ That’s crazy🙈

Lol it's not that bad once you learn fundamentals, nearly all grapplers have 2 big weaknesses and that's zoning and anti-airs. DPs are also really good vs. newer grapplers, but risky vs. seasoned ones without conditioning or hard reads.

While I can't agree with EVERYTHING you said I do somewhat agree. Like the dmg some of the characters do is wildly low vs Gief just grabbing ya and boom 1/4 to 1/3 of hp gone just like that. Where others will hit someone 20 times and only knock down 1/3 of life.... I think my critique wouldn't so much be a lack of balance but more a slow response to balancing the game... if that made sense...

keep in mind that Sykkuno is always about content first, Sure, Gief is really strong at beginners level BUT... Gief is not used at higher levels for a reason, this Gief struggle is fun because is being over exaggerated, If you are interested in fighting games give them a chance but there is a lot of things to learn and just remember that in fighting games everything has a counter except season 1 JP, that was really bad.

⁠⁠⁠⁠@@nobodyyouknow6998it’s a lot harder for gief to land that 1 big damage dealing hit than other characters landing their small hits. It’s just sort of the name of the game when playing against a grappler. Don’t get grabbed. It’s not easy but it is balanced. Gief and grapplers in general have been a staple of fighting games for a very long time. It is hard for new players to find answers but it simply takes time to build that skill.
