When I graduated high school and moved from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara Loretta Gross helped me pack, coming up with this slogan: "If you have to think about it you don't need it, throw it out." Also, I once read, "Spend less time trying to acquire more so that you may enjoy what you have," Both of these are fantastic concepts to live by. Not that I have been able to do it. I love your collection Sue. I know what you mean. It's so hard to limit what we buy and collect. My weakness is the thrift stores and flea markets. How can you not get the rescue dolls when they are screaming at you to rescue them??? Seriously I have limited myself to one cabinet which holds about 50 dolls and one shelf over my sewing machine that holds 5 Barbies. I have given away about 25 dolls that were not Barbies and I did not love as much. But it sure is hard. I donate a lot of my rescue dolls to a children's charity so that helps with the rescuing habit. :) :)
Yes, it is hard. I know what you mean. They are saying "Please take me with you!" LOL That is such a wonderful thing you do, donating to children. I am giving some to a thrift store today. But not the old Vintage ones. I have many that comes in with the lots I buy that I don't really collect. So they gotta go. Maybe not PJ. LOL

I know what you mean sue! Me and my grandma have so many dolls they’re flooding out of our room! A lot of them need cleaning/restoration but there’s so many it almost feels impossible haha. Definitely have restricted on what we bring into the house for a while
Hi Sue!! I try not to hoard but alas I'm addicted to Barbies!!!! I wish I had a Barbie room, I'm working on it...that Pumpkin carriage is fantastic!!!!!! I actually carry a sewing tote everywhere I go, I made all kinds of clothing for Barbie!! I clean up, recondition and dress the dolls. I carry a few in my bag, if the Barbie topic comes up and someone shows interest, I gift them a Barbie!!! They are usually tinkled pink!!!💗💗
I love your doll collection. Im also a doll lover ever since childhood until now. I hope to have a huge collection like yours but unfortunately, I can't afford it. God bless you always.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I get a lot of my items for very low prices. I find them at flea markets and such. Just like the items in this video. So you can collect without spending a fortune. Good luck from one doll lover to another.🥰

Collector versus hoarder. That's a very complicated and difficult question. I think I used to be a hoarder back when I first started collecting but now I am truly a collector, who tries to hoard as little as possible. I know this can be a real challenge for some people, and I wish everyone who was struggling with it good luck.
I sure am! I have so many multiples of dolls but that’s because I like to get the vintage fashions. Then of course you need a doll so you can display the fashion! It’s like a cycle. Space is always a issue. My house isn’t that big so I’m always struggling. I don’t collect houses, vehicles or play sets. But I would if I had room 😂😂😂😂
I am having a very hard time downsizing my Barbies! Please give us more information on how to, etc .. The trouble is all the wonderful outfits out there... somewhere..lol😊
You should have hubby build you some shelving wherever you have blank wall space. Like floor to ceiling bookshelves. Also good for resale if you ever want to move. 😊

What a fantastic subject Sue! You cannot be a collector with out wondering, at some point...Am I a horder? Well, I think that the first and foremost thing a person can do to PREVENT themselves for being a Big H, is to do 10 things.... 1. have all of your collection in one room ONLY!!!!! 2. Keep at least 75% of your collection visible!!! 3. Display your collection in an orderly fashion or in groups that are accessible at all times. 4. Stay up to date on the value of each item in your collection. 5. Decide to sale ONLY when you have really thought it through to avoid regret. And sale only after things are organized to help you think clearly. You then know when selling is the right thing to do. 6. Enjoy your collection! 7. DON'T stop thrifting. The treasures are still out there. 8. Add shelving to every bare wall space!!!! in your room so you can rotate with new treasures. 9. Keep an air filter in your doll room to cut down on dust on shelves. 10. Keep a lock on your doll room door in case you have parties or holiday guests over. Believe me!! You'll be glad you did. I believe if you stick to these 10 things, then you will never have to consider yourself...well...you know...that word that starts with an H. LOL ❤ Also, Sue...y'all deserve a medal for your move. Love your collection of P.J.s I only have 2 of those myself. The number of Barbies I own far exceeds that. Afraid I may already be at hoarder status. Getting some things ready to list on EBAY as well. Thank you for this video.
When I run out of space, I buy a new cabinet or organize the dolls in a different order. For me, the difference between a collector and a hoarder is that a collector has an idea of what he collects, the quality of the collection, the rarity of the dolls, the theme, the aesthetics. For example, I collect fashion dolls, but I don’t collect Barbies. I don’t collect baby and child dolls. Tonner, Gene, bjd, vintage fashion dolls are what interests me. Now I'm looking for Miss seventeen doll 15 or 18 inch. I make a list of dolls that interest me, so as not to fill the space with dolls that I won’t like.

@@BarbieLove I absolutely agree, I love all my dolls and don’t want to part with any of them, but I set limits for myself on what is allowed, otherwise I’ll also be out of my budget. Which sometimes annoys me myself😅
I’m not going to admit to being a hoarder lol I need the multiple dolls to display the beautiful fashions. Maybe you could put up shelves all around the room since this is your dolly room then there will be more room for your boxed dolls on the top and maybe a level for cars and that awesome Cinderella carriage and horse
@@BarbieLove I'm probably justifying some of my own bad tendencies, BUT I think another sign of the collect/hoard line is whether or not you're able to organize what you have. That said, pace yourself & be gentle with yourself! You have a whole house to organize. Parts of the doll room can wait.
Cinderella is so much more beautiful as an animated figure than a Mattel doll. No plastic can properly duplicate her look and the blue ballgowns of synthetic fabric are not good. To be polite. Fantastic coach, however. A+++
Yes, I am not a fan of Disney dolls. But she was the one that originally came with the coach. Glad you Like it. It's huge but I can make some sweet photos with it.
I am a bit of a doll hoarder, but at least sometimes I sell things off even if it "hurts" and I don't leave boxes in every room of the house and such. And I don't let it ruin my economy. So I think I am ok. But I have more than I can display and in boxes everywhere in my bedroom and it looks not so good..
I remember buying a PJ in the modern age as a young person having to settle for a Barbie I had no affinity for as I believed all the bubble cuts from a by-gone area no longer existed in the world. How naive. HA! Did I think they all went away in an apocalypse? i knew nothing of flee markets, colloctor lists. I don't think they had been invented yet. Doesn't PJ have prominent kind of open or purched lips??? You will survive without them.
I have been going to flea markets almost as long as I can remember, however I didn't have Barbies on my radar. I probably miss so many!! Yes she is the Steffie face. I can certainly live without a few Gary, I just don't want too.😒
SUEBLOVE, All this collectionting has made you go crazy. Have you forgotten that Candy Fashion is not candy but the Deluxe Reading supermarket doll with the 3 fshions on customized stands that had a prized place on your mantle at the old house before the big move??? That was your big thrift shop win day!

But I don't like a tease, and a fly by of he video, I feel like I was on a very fast merry go round,. with pretty dolls, but you were going by so fast, I could not enjoy them.
