Dollar stores and reuse it shops are great for finding inexpensive things to use as terrain. I've found usable vehicles for sci-fi and post-apocalyptic games and even found cool looking action figures I kitbashed for larger creatures such as Horrors for The Doomed. Build turned out good. With the way you left the pegs on the bases it would work great for a structure suspended above water, or a swampy terrain.
Amazing what a keen eye and good imagination can do eh! Looking at the buildings on those previously black platforms, I’m thinking they would make good docks. That looks great. I need to find some of that fish tank screen. That yellow piece on its own at 0:50 could be a retro SF hover cannon or super weapon or something.
The paints I use are Eraldo Di Paolo, From RIOT art here in Australia. They can be expensive but if you get them on sale they are really good value! And I just use some cheap dollar store paint brushes for everything else!
