Hey, that's a good DIY idea!! Good thing you used the paper clip. I once tried painting the Dollar Tree chain, and it didn't turn ought very well. It just chips off the plastic coating. Just a suggestion, glue the candle B4 attaching trash can to basket.
I love this project idea! The possibilities are endless. You can do farmhouse look, or in my case, I'll drape my chandelier crystal beadings to make a glam lighting. Thank you for your creativity!!
I agree Cindy!!! Endless possibilities to embellish and make it work for your style. Oh, I love seeing crystals...that would be stunning! You are so welcome. Thanks for commenting and letting me know what you might do to this project! Enjoy your Friday! Hugs~ Josie :)
Or you can put solar lights inside one of the Dollar Tree jars I have with the ribbed glass around the sides, or a jar with fairy lights inside. I might make several different versions of these. Gotta run out to DT to get more supplies!!
Thank you so much for this! I've been trying to find an inexpensive diy for non electric lightning to use in my garden and other outdoor sitting areas. What a fabulous idea!!!
I wasn't sure at first if it needed the glam because sometimes it is to much. But you did a very tasteful job on the decoration. An it came out very nice. Great substitute with the paper clips.
Thanks Debbie. I try not to over-glam things...I just keep it simple. Thanks for noticing. Glad you liked the outcome. Yeah those paperclips came out handy! Enjoy your day! Hugs~ Josie :)
You did it again and I’m off to Dollar Tree again! I love it! After you put the roses on I love it even more I’m thinking one outside on lanai (or 2) without roses and in black. One inside for a bedroom or dining room in white with the roses. French country glamour! Thanks again!
Oh that would be so lovely on your lanai Fran! Oh, and for bedroom and dining room too. I can imagine how you will decorate these areas. So excited! Enjoy this project! TFW, hugs~ Josie :)
Its a great idea. Ur thoughts are cool.. Small suggestion.. Hope u don't mind.. Cud u pls. Show the end product prior to the start of the video so that we get an idea
Hello Mohanasundaram...thanks for watching and your suggestion. I show the finished project often, but this one, I decided to leave it as a surprise since there are 3 finished products. But , I will definitely show preview on future projects if desired. Enjoy your day! Hugs~ Josie :)
I saw another dollar tree chandelier on you tube,it was neat and I made it.This one is a really cute idea, thought it would be neat with shells glued on it too!
Thanks everyone. I am really enjoying these series of DOLLAR TREE wastebasket DIYs. I think I may have a few more in store for you all. Here's another idea. While responding to Little Crive's comment, I just had a lightbulb (literally and figuratively speaking) moment LOL. I think you can use the small round press light that they also sell at the Dollar Tree instead of the LED flameless candle for a brighter effect! So, use that if you prefer one that is brighter. You can also add fairy lights inside the wastebasket as I mentioned on the video, for a brighter and more dramatic effect! As I read some of the earlier comments, I am loving the suggestions. Keep them coming. Who knows, I might just try them and feature your suggestions on my next video, just like what I have done with the wastebasket tray table DIY I made a couple of weeks ago. I shared some ideas on the following DIY. As the saying goes, great minds think alike, but I also love brainstorming with you. Thanks for the love and support. I truly appreciate you all! Hugs~ Josie :)
What do u think about adding a solar light Mason jar inside? You would have to cage it first and then position it in place after assembling the waste basket and bowl thingy with the zip ties. Then they could be your yard or patio or balcony and light up on it's own at dusk fully charged🤯 🤦♀️I'm sorry I had a moment.... thank you for sharing👍
How pretty and oh so feminine too! I think I am going to make one for both my little granddaughters (ages, 5 & 7!!) They will love them in their room. You have a great imagination and I look forward to seeing your next video xxx
Thanks Maeve. I am sure your granddaughters will love it not only because it is a beautiful piece once done, but because you made it for them! Hope you have a wonderful time making it. Hugs~ Josie :)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! I WAS THINKING MY BEDROOM BUT THE HUBSTER WOULD MOST LIKELY VETO THE IDEA SO WHEN YOU MENTIONED GAZEBO I LOVED THAT IDEA MUCH BETTER!!! I WILL BE MAKING THIS AS SOON AS I GATHER UP THE MATERIALS!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thanks Gwen. Check with your hubster...he might not object even for the bedroom. Funny, my hubby is the same, but he was the one who said we can use it inside the house. He loved the look with flowers. I was shocked lol. I wish we had a gazebo. I would have definitely made another just for it. Enjoy your week! Hugs~ Josie :)
OK, off to the Dollar tree! yipee! This is going to look fabulous in my gazebo. I needed something else outside and this will work perfectly! Thank you thank you thank you!
It sure would Lavender Rainbow. I am envious you have a gazebo. I do have a project to make sort of a trellis backdrop. Not sure when I will start...lol. TFW, enjoy your project! Hugs~ Josie :P)
How about gluing a small plate down and just setting the candle on it so you could easily change the batteries. Love the glam and bling...right up my alley!!!
That's a great idea, Deb! Thanks for the tip. Yeah, you could definitely do that too! Glad you love blings too, Enjoy your week. Blessings and hugs~ Josie :)
This is a really cool idea, but I can't find the planter part to fit. I got the wreath to go around the bottom of the basket for your Christmas hanger but it's too big. Where do you get the parts that attach to the bottom?
Hi Mari Ann, you can get the planter at Dollar Tree, although it comes in black.tgey carry it at their gardening section during Spring to mid Summer. You can spray paint it white. I got mine at 99 Cents Only Store. Hope that helps! Have fun recreating! Thanks for watching. Hugs-Josie 🤗
Absolutely beautiful. I like the glam look. The flowers were the icing on the cake. I think fairy lights would look good as well to brighten up the basket area too. A very versatile piece. Great job Josie. Have a fantastic weekend!!❤
Oh Miss Josie! Your mind amazes me everytime! Super cute. Adding the fairy lights is a great idea! I was thinking, to get more use out of the light you could attach a DT round candle mirror to the inside bottom if the waste basket before you attach the flower basket. I don't know the dimensions of the waste basket base. But it looks like it would be big enough to accommodate the small round mirror. (I think the mirrors are 5 inch diameter, or smaller. I can't remember.) Hopefully with the mirror placed there it would cause the light to retract off the mirror, creating more light!
Ohhhh that would be so lovely indeed! Yes, it is big enough to accommodate the small round mirror. I would think the mirror on top will reflect some light! You know what? Maybe instead of the LED candle perhaps, I can also use a press light that they sell at DT for brighter effect. It's the right size to fit the hole of the planter. Imagine that reflecting? Hmmm....I think I am going to try this and feature your mirror comment. I like this brainstorming lol. TFW, hugs ~ Josie :)
I hate having allergies, your voice sounds way better than mine!! Love this idea!! I just got a black hanging basket and was wondering what I could do with it! Good thing I didn’t put a plant in it!! You have great ideas!!🤗
Thanks Flower GemsGirl. I am getting better...must have been due to the disappearing pollens...but it is getting too hot, so my asthma is going to be flaring up more often. Sigh~ Anyway, glad that you did not use the planter as a planter...lol. You can use it for many other things! Enjoy your day! TFW, hugs~ Josie :)
It would be neat to weave the bling wrap through the mesh of the trash can so that the light would reflect off of it! I really liked your idea to use paper clips for the hanging chain.
Oh that would be lovely Virginia. Thanks for suggesting. Glad you like my paperclip idea. I was almost going to paint the black chain with chalk paint, until I thought of my white paperclips. Glad I did! TFW, hugs ~ Josie :)
Beautiful miss lady I love it,i just needed an ideal on the skeleton of the lamp shade, thank a million love, i,ll go to dollarTree to get my metal mesh basket & make my pub shed hanging ceiling lamps.i,ll put it on you tube also,
That would look so amazing Elizabeth! I love the nautical/coastal look. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have fun making and using this project! Hugs~ Josie :)
So pretty, Josie! I wish we had 99 cent stores here. I just finished a DIY with one of those planter baskets from the DT... spray painted white. The white basket would have been ideal! Nice work. 👍
Thanks Mimi J. I sure wish all cities and towns have their own 99c and DT stores. It is better to give more options. However, I do hope DT will carry white next year. Who knows...they might do that! Enjoy your day. Hugs~ Josie :)
Thanks Brenda. I think if you turn the planter upside down inside the basket, it will fit snugly close to the opening, not to the bottom of wastebasket. Also, you would not be able to reach the bottom on/off switch of the flameless candle. But, here's a thought, perhaps hang the wastebasket from it's opening too and just put the candle without gluing so each time you turn on and off, it would be easy. Love this idea. TFW, hugs~ Josie :)
I've been trying to think.of something lightweight to hang under my RV awning and you have me a great idea 😉 Thank you and keep your ideas coming 😄 I cannot wait to see what you come up with next 😊
It is so lightweight for sure it will work under your RV awning. Thanks so much again dear for stopping by and commenting. I love our interactions. I have some more ideas coming soon. So, keep checking back! Have a great day! Hugs~ Josie :)
