I like those lemon packets that were next to the Wyler's. When I got scared...and finally did some serious prepping I got all the freeze dried fruit packs. I got a few different kinds vs. one $28 can of blueberries. They had organic coconut treats with seeds and sugar syrup. Then non gmo various nut snacks, sea weed snax. You not only have to concentrate on calories but also nutrients and food fatigue. Get like rice and beans first, lentils are the "fast food" of beans, no soaking necessary. I found canned veggies of tomato, corn and okra in like a Mex sauce put a can of that on them. They have canned meats. I also buy like glass jars of asparagus. Look for nutrient and flavor variation in teas/drinks and spices. Many teas have fruit pieces on them. I bought Z'atar spice, a spice from the Middle East. And do not forget many foods are medicinal, as are spices and teas.
You can really do well at Dollar Tree for many items. Plus even if it’s not the best deal money wise sometimes, I do like the smaller amounts - like the seasoning envelope and the single portion drink packets
I haven’t checked the prices at either store lately. I will say that I have found the prices at Walmart have skyrocketed! I honestly think that Dollar Tree may be cheaper when it comes to the cookies.
@@worldofappoloniaThe packets at my DT says they male a dozen ( the last time I checked). I think the ones in stores make 3 dozen. Of course, it depends on how big or small you make them. But price would probably be about the same. I haven't bought the packets in years, so just guessing they would be around $3.75.
@worldofappolonia Gotcha. I'm not an avid shopper at either when it comes to groceries, I wouldn't know the prices either. Granted, I try my best to stay away from Wal-Mart as a hole though. But I guess my thinking would be is, if you buy a bigger item, the serving size price would go down some. That's my thinking I guess.
Today some body had a rosemary no knead bread in a cast iron dutch oven...it was brown crusted. It looked so delicious. I was in an ind. organic store and it was $8.29 and some other brands were $8.99. I walked out...I will make savory pancakes if I need "bread". One slice of tmy brand will make a small sandwich. I can do it but I do not want to because just like for homes if we are fool enough to pay it...they just go up (not that they are right now). In protest, I will not buy it. I really need to make a baking station in my kitchen, cookies, biscuits, bread, dumplings, pancakes, waffles, coffee cake, cinn. buns, Pie crusts, chocolate cake...oh my. How much was one of each item and how much if I whipped it up?
