I think this is a perfect option for those who can’t afford the expensive happy planner. I’m DEFINITELY going to try to get some of the inserts and dividers for my mini happy planner! Great video!
I found that HP discs work a lot better on these, so I just threw the DT discs away and got a big package of plastic extender discs and it works really good.
Thank you for sharing. You did a sticky note diy and I think if you got a couple of those covers and some better discs, this would be a great way to do that for a lot cheaper
This is a really good and inexpensive option for someone who is not sure about trying a pricier disc planner system. I recently did a video on planner supplies that I found at the DT. They had a lot of good stuff, but not this. I’ll have to go back and see if they have it now.
This would be good to get someone accustomed to planning before making a bigger investment. Getting your kids used to making goals and writing down what needs to be done and get/stay organized.
I bought a set of the covers last year. They had 2020 on the covers. I made my own cover and laminated it with the self-stick laminating sheets and taped it to the front of one of them and added some Happy Planner paper and discs. The back cover started to fade and scratch off with use, so I made cover and laminated it as well. It works fine now. I use it as a scripture writing/prayer journal. I bought two more sets this year, I but haven't done anything with them yet. If you do get them, whether you use them as is or make your own cover, be sure to laminate the front and back covers.
P.S. When you say dupe, you weren't kidding because Dollar Tree's packaging even resembles Happy Planner's. WOW. Makes me wonder if Happy Planner designed these to gain the $1.25 /newbie crowd, but used cheaper paper and cheaper discs (of course) to throw off regular HP users. In Marketing 101 I learned many companies do that.
I found just discs at my local Dollar Tree a few months back and I think I got all they had at the time. I use a Cricut template to make my own cover and pages that I got from Awesome SVGS as well as the Happy Planner hole punch. The rings work fine with pages, covers and dividers made with those tools. So maybe their page holes are just not cut exactly right. I’m satisfied with what I got.
I do wish HP would sell covers. I know people buy happy notes so they have more cover options but I see that as a waste of money and having to store paper that I don't want. I'm waiting for the make your own cover that I purchased in the last HP sale. I'll just insert scrapbook paper into it when I want a change.
Oh my goodness! I am at dollar tree all the time now and have never seen this! Definitely looking for them this next year! The discs on the little tiny 4 disc notebooks from dollar tree are not that great either but the covers were much better than these. I found the quality for that to be much closer to happy planner. Haven't seen them in a while though.
Great info. I thought HP was done, closed, over. They were always very expensive in Canada. I could never find anything I liked so gave up and I quit looking but I do glance at michaels periodically. There’s been nothing new for months.
I feel like a laminator could improve a lot of this. Laminate the covers to make them more durable and also laminate the stencils... you'd have to spend some time with an exacto knife cutting it out but it would make the stencils usable. A little bit of time and elbow grease but you'll save money.
Seriously ALL these plastic wrapper noises are driving crazy like why can't you be a normal person and open things before making a video. Take into consideration your viewers might have sensory problems.
