Hi everyone... Dollar Tree has begun to sell HTV vinyl in pink, red, gold, silver, black glitter, and neon colors pink, orange, yellow, and green. I wanted to use the new vinyl in my Cricut and give an honest review. Also, at the end of the video we use the hand cut technique to see how easy or hard it is to use if you're cutting it out manually. Let's see if it really is a bargain at $1.25.
The beginning of the video we make a vintage style shirt using Crayons, oil pastels and sandpaper! My kids thought I had lost my marbles but in reality, I had remembered making these fun art pieces clear back in elementary school art class. When they saw the finish designs, they were hooked, and we actually had to go out and get more sandpaper. Luckily Dollar Tree sells a pack of 24 sheets, various grit, that are about 5x7 rectangles for just $1.25 over in housewares near the tools. Once we made the designs, I thought it would be fun to mix media and use the vinyl to layer and create a really fun new shirt to wear. You don't have to make a t-shirt, you could use material to make custom pillows, placemats and so much more.
I really hope you enjoy this review and seeing a new way to create custom design shirts with some very simple materials you may already own.
Thank you so much for watching
Don't forget we make these DIY- Craft videos and review Dollar Tree products on Thursdays. Tuesdays and Fridays we post What's new at the Dollar Tree videos so we can see what fun new items show up on the trucks a few times a week :)
have a Great day!
Rebecca

Y'all at the end of the video when I am saying the vinyl on the Tote bag went on easier than the other vinyl I should have said Glitter vinyl that we used earlier in the video. Sorry I was up all night doing the editing and didn't catch the mistake until after I posted it lol. I just mean the glitter vinyl we used on the shirt. It stuck really well too.. just took longer to stick to the shirt than the neon vinyl did. Wanted to clarify so there wouldn't be any confusion :)

Thank you so much for giving us this how to use tutorial. I don’t think I would have tried the Dollar Tree iron on vinyl, but watching this video has changed my mind. And the crayon method was interesting. Take care😊🎃

Glad it was helpful! I wanted a really honest review which is why I didn't even open it until I was on camera. I highly recommend checking your sheet before cutting to make sure it is stuck down to the backing really good first. But the black glitter was the only one that I actually HAD to burnish. I purposely didn't do it to the other sheets if they looked like they were down on the backing because I wanted to see if it was going to lift or not. I liked it enough that I bought another roll of the orange because I want to make 2 more trick or treat bags. I washed the fall shirt last night. Cold water, Tide sport with febreeze detergent, normal wash cycle. Then put it in the dryer mainly because I want to see how it holds up after a few washings and even dryer cycles. I plan on doing an update in about a week or so with pictures of what it looks like after a few washings.

Thank you! Glad you liked them. We made these when I was in elementary school... I'm quickly approaching 50. We didn't make shirts just small little pictures and we had help ironing it on a scrap of fabric. Which makes me laugh now because that was a high tech fancy art day back then. Now my kids do things in art like make a whole quilt or use embroidery machines. I would have LOVED to do that when I was a kid. I probably would have been more excited about school if they let me do those crafts lol.

oh I am so glad. Like I said the black glitter right out of the box had some lifting on the corner. But I am impressed at how thick the vinyl is for the neon and the glitter. I was worried it was going to be really think like the glitter paper. I have since washed the shirt on cold water and I am bad I throw my shirts with vinyl in the dryer lol.. no lifting... I was hoping to wash it a few more times and then do an update in a week or so to see how it holds up to a few washings. I really hope you find it. I looked online, not there yet. I am hoping they come put with more colors. Iron on vinyl projects are my favorite to make :) Thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a lovely day!

Awesome job! I love all your shirts you made! And thanks for the reminder on the crayon and sandpaper method. I remember doing that way back in Elementary school lol and I'm old! I may have to show my grandkids how to do that this weekend. And while I do have a brand new Cricut sitting in it's box yet I haven't figured out how to use it. So as for the iron on vinyl I could cut out my own. I didn't even realize I bought the iron on vinyl till I started watching your video then I looked at what I bought, yep it's the iron on vinyl. So I have that too lol. Thank you for showing us how to make crafts for our home or shirts for our kids and grandkids. I love you channel!! 😃♥️

Well as I hate to admit I am nearing 50. I'll be 48 in about 2 months. Sounds like our art teachers shared ideas lol. It's a fun project for kids to make. They get a real kick out of seeing what they made on a shirt they can wear. I was very intimidated by the Cricut when I first got it. The first project I made came in the box with it. It was a card. It showed me a step by step process of what to do and within the first 20 minutes of set up I had a custom made greeting card. I highly recommend opening it up and learning how to use it. I love mine so much. My kids gifted it to me for Christmas 2 years ago and it is my favorite thing to craft with. Also there are thousands of ideas and videos on here teaching you how to use Design space. One channel I know that has a video on just about anything you would want to know about Cricut projects is Jennifer Maker channel. She sells a whole book and all. I personally wouldn't spend money on a book because there are enough videos online to help guide you that it isn't necessary. I hope that will help you. Once you start using it, you will love it !

Yay! another who remembers the iron on crayon projects from our childhood! The comments have made me laugh today. I can guess age ranges based on who remembers this from childhood (it must have been a favorite project at one time for art teachers) ... and those who have never heard you could make a shirt with an iron, crayon and sand paper lol. MY kids doubted very much that this was going to work.... silly kids. 😂😂

Thank you. We made a few of them. My kids love all of the Peanuts movies they used to show on TV for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since the crayon gives that vintage faded look we thought adding a quote and the date the movie came out would help make it really special.

Hope you enjoy it! Highly recommend looking it over to make sure it is stuck down to the backing really well. Out of the four colors I used , only the black vinyl was lifting off of the backing, but I'd still check them all before cutting. I hate when I waste vinyl even if it's $1.25 lol. Don't forget to mirror your design. I forget this more times than I like to admit 😂

awesome. I love making craft videos and sharing all the fun things I've learned to do. I try to tie in the Dollar Tree aspect by using mainly Dollar Tree items in the crafts I make. Sometimes I have to venture out for a product that is either cheaper somewhere else or Dollar Tree just doesn't carry it. But for the most part They are made from Dollar Tree stock :) So glad you enjoyed this video and for watching all of the videos you do. Have a wonderful day 🥰

It's quite fun to do. I have to thank my elementary school art teacher for that idea. I can't remember her name for the life of me lol. There are a few other ways to use crayons to make transfers. I've seen where you make a stencil out of wax covered freezer paper. Iron it down to the fabric. Sprinkle wax shavings on top. Cover with parchment and iron it down. Then remove the freezer paper. They turn out cute. One I have seen done a lot is a turtle. Very cute.

I hope so too! I was watching a Dollar tree video from another creator, and she showed they had the neon iron on vinyl way back in like May/June. I was so jealous and curious of how it worked all at the same time....I just assumed we wouldn't get any since I saw she posted that video end of May.... I kid you not the next day I found it at three different stores. I was shocked. Then less than a week later they had the glitter. I would advise checking often because I did NOT buy much of it, worried about how it was going to work...I went back hoping to get 2 rolls of the pink and black..and they had none left. I really hope you get them at your store. Bug the manager maybe they can order some lol, worse they can say is no. Thank you for watching. Have a great weekend.

@rebeccastuthecrew

The iron on Vinyl I am a fan. Permanent vinyl is a love hate relationship lol. I had to learn what would work for my Cricut and it is not what everyone else recommends. I saw so many say use Washi tape setting and it just tore to shreds.... If I use just "paper" it cuts out nice in my machine. So if using the regular sticky paper vinyl permanent or removeable I would recommend searching a few videos to see what they recommend as a setting and then try a few until you find what works best for your Cricut. Hopefully you will find that perfect setting with less headache than the rest of us had lol. Happy crafting.

They started to sell a few colors right around Halloween. They come in 12x12” sheets. They mix them all in with the regular vinyl so it helps to scan the top portion of the box they will have a black iron icon which makes them easier to spot. The colors are glitter red, black, silver, gold & pink. Or the bright fluorescent, colors pink yellow orange and green . I looked online they have them listed but you have to buy 24 at a time.
