I don’t think I can pick a favorite because they are all fascinating to me...you chose well! That strainer! I can’t imagine trying to make that...or the ships, of course. Mind boggling! The shoes are amazing, too. Gomez is a lucky man! Lol
I do like to buy things that I don't think I can make myself ;) This way I can pay the artist and save myself some time! Thanks for watching and so glad you enjoyed!
I have a couple of things from the Doll's Cobbler. They are suburb quality! Advice: Do not ever wrap in tissue paper. It gets imbedded in the coating on the leather..
Brooke Tucker and her brother have been around for a long time! Her brother creates beautiful room boxes and I have one of her first books on the winter theme. Her book was valued between $80.00-800.00, over 15 years ago, and I have the edition that includes the Editor, which is of higher value than the edition without the Editor's comment. The winter scene is very elaborate. Brooke was one of my first inspiration. I tend to do something similar when it comes to purchasing minis. I will only buy what I cannot make, or have available in a jiffy, other than that, I make everything myself. Thank you for this vid. Love ya. Blessings.
Thank you for the information on Brooke Tucker. I prob need to assign myself a miniaturists research paper to get to know some of these awesome artisans... That must be one amazing book! What a treasure! I agree... I try to make what I can! :) Thanks for watching!
Bentley House Minis. There are so many of these prolific mini artisans that I have dealt with for years. Yes, I agree with you on listing. It's well worth it. I still have my collection of the original Nutshell magazines before they stopped printing them, as they were. It was through Nutshell that I learned about the "murder" scenes, still in use today to train on criminal investigations. THAT is a story on its own! Lol. Love your channel! Blessings.
Please do share your knowledge whenever you see a chance on my channel!! I love that we can all learn from each other whether its tutorials, history or new ideas! I have read a few article about the murder scenes and hope to see them along with the Thorne rooms some day in person!
Oh those ships are beautiful! Although I’m into making minis myself I’m always amazed at other people’s handiwork. That’s why there are some pieces I will buy instead of try and make. 😁
Great haul!!! Thanks for providing vendors' info. The carpet bag was my favorite...but I'm also loving the idea of the graveyard statue guy. 💜 So much fun stuff! (Yes, please do a 'how to make molds' video.)
I really want to do that video as mold making is something I am growing to love! I can't wait to make the skeleton into a grave stone! I think he'll add some quirky Addams humor to the graveyard out front ;)
I have always loved miniatures but am just now really exploring them. The skeleton is adorable and would look so cute in the cemetery coming out of a grave. I watch all of your videos and you have given me some great ideas. I would love to see one on mold making. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much and I am so glad to hear you are enjoying my videos!! Miniatures are so fun :) You will have a blast!! Several people have expressed interest in mold making so I may move it up a bit on my to-do list ;)
I haven't completed the Coffee Shop yet so no worries you haven't missed it ;) It will probably still be a few months in the making. Believe me you will see a big celebratory video when I finish it!! lol
that's the case with most of the stuff from Metal Minis. metalminis.com/ I have bought from them in the past and their catalog does not do justice to the pieces. I just like their product and I am just sharing my opinion ... I don't get any compensation from the company.
It's a really good one. Not a humongous show but it has very high quality vendors and has price points for everybody. Some is super expensive but most is affordable!
How exciting! This looks like a good haul. Yes, please show us a mold tutorial. I would love to see how all that works. Do you ever do electrical wiring for the minis?
I am getting more interested in dollhouse wiring now that LED's and batteries are getting smaller and smaller. Luckily my husband has some knowledge in that area and hopefully he can help me a bit when I get there. When I first started I was scared I'd start a fire some how lol :O Prob a bit irrational...
I bought a pair of waders and a pair of work boots from the Dolls' Cobbler. Such a nice lady & really good prices. You got the salt and pepper set from Carol's Bloomers. I almost bought them myself. I also got some rusty buckets for my hunting camp I'm planning. Ruth Stewart is a wonderful person. I bought a few of her molds, including a crab mold to make boiled crabs for the hunting camp. I missed the wine bottles; wish I would have seen them. I need that bag of charcoal for the grill I bought! If you ever need barware, the Little Dollhouse Company out of Canada carries some nice items. I bought a couple of shot glasses to go with some whiskey bottles I bought & will be ordering some more. They've been in business for a long time and have a good reputation.
Thank you for sharing more vendor info! I tried to hold onto as many cards as I could to give people credit. Yes I feel like the Dolls' Cobbler had really great prices for her items! Sounds like you had a fantastic haul as well ;) Do you participate in Mini Sam's Wonderful Work shop Weekend? If so I will be there in September and would love to meet you then!
I haven't heard of that but looked it up and wish I could go (love the classes). However, there's no easy way for me to get there but I can't drive that far from where I live in Louisiana due to my back and the closest city to fly to would be Austin. Good Sam in San Jose in October is my next mini trip. I'm trying to get into a couple of classes there though.
I wish I would have known you were there. I could have met you! It was a great show, wasn't it? I had quite a haul myself. Spent way too much money but got a bunch of stuff for my next project.
Bummer! I announced it somewhere but I can't remember where... I just started a Twitter page that I hope will help with me announcing things like that. I was a fantastic show although I wish there were more exhibits :(
I'm 3 years late to this one but, it's Nov. 2021 and I've been saving money for 3 months already for the showcase in 2022. I fully intend to make a HUGE haul. :-)
Olivia Allen Thank you! I am trying to figure out the best way to get info to you guys without making a little announcement video each time. For a lot of youtubers that seems to be Twitter. I have set up a new account and you can find the info at the end of this video. I am hoping that will be a way to easily communicate upcoming events and channel changes with my subscribers!! I hope that helps!
Great question Danielle! I pretty much have to have something speak to my soul for me to purchase it when I don't have a place to put it. I do have a pretty distinct style when it comes to my scenes so sometimes if it looks destressed enough I know I will be able to use it eventually :) I hope that helps!
Normally I'm a bit opposed to haul videos, as they promote unnecessary consumerism. However, with minis it's really quite a different thing; it's much more about the appreciation of the craft; the quality of the work done & how the piece will be implemented into an upcoming project. There's not really any miniature culture/fairs/clubs etc here in South Australia, so your haul is my chance to "mini vicariously" through you. lol.
I agree Joanne...as I am normally a very money conscious person. I like to save up to spend money on amazing miniature art pieces and support fellow artists! (And it is super fun to talk to the artists themselves as I am shopping. Miniaturists are such fun people!) However I do sometimes splurge on art supplies too! But it all has to have a rational reason/purpose in my mind :)
Hey Ara! I saw your name on the weekend & thought I must remember to tell you - surprisingly, it was on the front of a bottle of wine lol!. You must Google it & see, it was Ara Wines Pinot Noir, I think they're from Marlborough in New Zealand which is quite well known for pinot & also for sauv blanc. Happy Googling :)
How fun!! If it ever makes it to a specialty shop over here I will have to pick up a bottle of my own brand ;) And if my name is on the logo do I hold the copyright? lol
Unfortunately a lot of miniature shops got hit hard during covid so they may not be out there anymore :( If I find another source I will be sure to share on my channel!
The metal minis in your haul are available unpainted from the following website: metalminis.com/ Don't let the look of the catalog fool you, the pieces have just been scanned, so it can give a bit of a messy look, but when you get them you can see how much better they look in person and all the details. :)
