Am glad how the small changes u make from time to time like adding music at the end or showing different format decks and now playing ranked never took away the chemistry of your vids. Wanna say that thx for being you and keep making choices and changing and growing if the need ever arises.
2nd game: just wanted to mention that "malkavian" is a bloodline in the world of darkness / vampire - they're said to be always insane but often brilliant. opponent lives up to their name, great game
The tricky thing about this build is that it doesn't seem that there are enough instants to take advantage of Hullbreaker. As you pointed out, there's a real tension between having instants for Hullbreaker, and creatures, for Dollhouse. Which created a real challenge in the second match (~25 minutes, isn't playing against Azorius control SO MUCH FUN?!)
Hullbreaker is still decent as an uncounterable flash threat that can bounce things at sorcery speed, just won’t be as good at countering things like Epiphany.
@@LegenVD maybe you could switch out the meathook for instants ? it didn't come in too much in these games and you already have some clear with toxrill
Intrepid Adversary is the card I usually see with Dollhouse of Horrors that has the most explosive power. Best kind of deck I've seen was basically an Aggro/Control deck being able to play both roles equally. It is nice to see a different take for its use. Dollhouse is just a very powerful value engine that makes it feels like you can't lose once you have it going. It really works well with creatures that learn too, whether it is for the lessons or the looting of more creatures. Hearing you say you made so many duds after I've seen multiple decks go to town with DollHouse, makes me want to know what cards you were trying with it that didn't work. I've seen Scute Swarm used, but it kind of a win more stiuation, adding an extra step to a process that would win by itself anyways. Dollhouse is better as a regular value engine I think. Even if the value is small it adds up quickly. That and as I mentioned, Intrepid Adversary gives a way to have an early creature in aggro match ups, stabilize you life total, and/or win games out of nowhere. Being able to make a giant creature with lifelink and haste that pumps any other normal creatures you have lying around is pretty insane. I think Hullbreaker Horror was alright for this deck, but this deck wasn't alright for Hullbreaker. You can do way more with that card than how this deck was using it. Still enjoyed seeing a different approach to using Dollhouse of Horrors.
I had an idea during previews about pairing this card with blue loot effects and dying to serve in a light snow deck. There is Hawk that loots for 1 mana, and there is the looting werewolf, so with enchantment you can create 2 zombies per turn cycle and fill the graveyard for dollhouse. There is also the 5 mana reanimator spell that returns creature upon being looted, which also fits nicely, as well as various flashback reanimation spells (the Rakdos one is particularly interesting with the demon, since it can create copy before being exiled). Red also opens access to Plargg (the Red Dean), which can also loot for free. Green, on the other hand, opens access to other good cards. You only need a few snow basics in the deck for the hawk, as it can use 1 snow mana of any color, so 3 colored decks can easily fit the snow theme needed for this deck. It might not be the best deck, but it sounds like it would fit the theme of your channel (making unusual cards work). Zombies will also provide fodder for demon, and help you survive longer. Reanimating werewolf and hawk with dollhouse is also nice, as they have unlockable/flying, so can pressure your opponent while zombies will stall the ground.
Finally got around to this deck build, and this is one the most fun decks you’ve made yet. The only deck I like more is the skeletal swarming/meathook/dreadfest deck. Awesome job with this one
I've build a Sultai Reanimator deck with Dollhouse, 4 Scute swarms and with one Lier, Hullbreaker, Koma, Toxril and Burning Rune Demon each. Pretty fun & strong deck with a lot of control (some bounce spells, 3 Meathook for board wipe).
I think Consider would be a good adition to the deck. You can use to put expensive stuff from the top of the deck into your graveyard and it's great with the Horror.
Wtf are you all talking about? It's an insane card in draft, generating creatures every turn is very strong. I have yet to lose a single game after this card resolved. This isn't a reanimator card, it's more like God Faraoh Gift, it lets you reuse all your creatures, and on top of them, they constantly grow, if you keep them alive. Thinking about it as expensive reanimator spell doesn't make any sense, it can be anything from endgame finisher for an Aggro deck, to value engine for grinding deck. Its only weakness the fact that it dies to abrade and green uncommon.
@@zacharysain8516 I am sorry for your loss, but thanks for the chuckle. Losing like that is a fascinating mix of frustrating and funny. I do sometimes feel bad when I win but know that it is only because my opponent forgot about something (usually a trigger or activated ability).
I like the build. I think the celestus would be a good fit, just in case you get the big drops stuck in your hand. It also ramps you into doll house on turn 4.
i tried Dollhouse with Esper colors.. draw&discard to get Toxrill, Hullbreaker and Lier to grave. was fun, but did often feel clumsy. not so great deck. sometimes early dollhouse on play, but it felt like casting the creatures from hand was much more effective strategy. after they got removed, then Dollhouse could finish the game from the value perspective. playing things seems more effective in standard now, than trying to do extra step by getting them in graveyard. Dollhouse could be great 2 of to get added value from creatures that have enter battlefield effects or can boost the troops.
I may be mistaken, but when Lierre flash backed fateful absence to kill HBH you could have kept the hullbreaker in play and bounced the fateful absence. Flashback spells are exiled as part of their cost, so it can't be returned to the hand
I think Hullbreaker is not really shining in this deck. Not enough instants or flash cards. That new 3/3 exploit flyer that counters could help and some cheap instants, too.
Hullbreaker is still decent as an uncounterable flash threat that can bounce things at sorcery speed, just won’t be as good at countering things like Epiphany.
@@LegenVD Yep, agreed. I think every second deck I run into these days runs Epiphanies unfortunately. And I always feel bad when I use a Hullbreaker and run into a 1 mana fading hope before I can even attack xD. I’m testing Hullbreaker in a Dimir dicard shell currently that relies on the opp. top decking answers against Hullbreaker by the time it comes down and then I have Syncopate as a 1 mana counter nothing but return hullbreaker to hand if need be. And 2 test of talents for the Epiphany decks. So far decent results. PS: I like your new upload schedule much better :)
Maybe you could try adding in 4 copies of Consider to try to take more advantage of Hullbreaker Horror. Divide by Zero can actually be cut entirely from the deck.
The turn on that was going around 19:30 I think you would have just won if you slammed exhibition, or at least forced another doomskar He was tapped out.
@@LegenVD That’s fair I was just thinking that your hand was pretty stacked and that was a pretty prime opportunity to cast it, And if he didn’t have another doomskar you would just untap and win
I feel like Overcharged Amalgam would be great for your deck, not only is it a flash exploit card that counters, you can reanimate it to get a second use of that counter!
Why do people play intrepid adversary turn 2? Unless you have 2 in hand I see no reason before turn 6? That's what I do with it anyway outside 2 scenarios, emergency deployment as block (last resort too good too waste) or post board wipe. But I play either izzet dragons or my toxrill control deck 90% of the time (usually the izzet if I'm on ranked, at diamond tier 3 ATM, just started this season too but I've played magic off n on whole life, last played during alara block around alara reborn, the 5 color control days!)
Love the video. Side question: does anyone remember the deck he made where he uses Warlock Class and Scourge of the Skyclaves to oneshot the opponent? I am trying to find it in his list and I can't. Any help is much appreciated!
I think black is a bit too strong in standard right now. Whenever I play my mono black deck it seems like as long as i can survive past turn 5 it is almost impossible to lose. Between blood on the snow, meathook, eyetwitch and shambling ghast the color is just sooo consistent.
Black has a ton of card draw. I have a version of monoblack that uses deadly dispute, scorpion zombie dude, sorin, and lolth. In a grindy game, it's not uncommon for me to get around 20 cards left in the library before the game ends.
Scute swarm is a good build around, seen another channel use that and some other stuff. Malikir rebirth or another cheap instant could be useful in the deck. Hullbreaker really shines when you can pretty much counter bounce them anytime lol
I bet it takes you two hours to watch 60 Minutes. I'm kidding. I'd be thorough too if I knew people would be nitpicking every play I made. Dollhouse looks super fun. I can't wait for the historic brews
Great point, although I couldn't really tell that it was a copy with Flashback. The red glowy animation I presume is from it being uncounterable, so not sure how to find out at a glance.
I don't know how you play against control decks with such patience; I tend to just scoop when I see them not play a spell turn 4, my time is more valuable than some gold 🤣
