Iam born and bred in poplar on the burdett estate I forgot what the londoner pub looked like and the people were down too earth good people I truly miss the old East end our cockney heritage is slowly being taken away makes me sad when I watch videos like this but it also makes me smile 😃 good memories.
I am of mixed-raced heritage from Custom House originally, used to go and see me aunt who lived in Poplar High Street above the shops, near Robin Hood Gardens, remember going to Chrisp St Market, fond memories back in the day, the East End was so different then, not the same anymore, moved out to Essex, shame you don't hear the Cockley accent no more, proud to be a brown face cockney😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍I enjoyed the video.
Born in Poplar in the 60s, attended local primary and secondary school, St Philip Howard’s, now moved out of London but what a dramatic transformation in the last 40 years largely due to immigration and modernisation. The next 20 years this pocket of London’s east end will not be recognised
