I used to go to the Carol Burnett show when I was in college . I still love her. I miss that kind of entertainment . No cheap shots , no F - bombs , no filthy sexual innuendos. Just funny stuff that literally would have you rolling in the aisles .
@@richardchase4019 when I first read this, I processed "Redd Foxx" as "Jeff Foxworthy" (remember him?). I haven't heard of Redd Foxx. I'll have to check him out when I can get the chance.
Oh yeah! when my parents had a dinner party, I got to stay up late, and watch shows that were usually off-limits. On Friday, it was some cop show-- they came and went-- but Saturday was always CAROL BURNETT!!
I was one of the dancers on the show. I had a great time doing the show. Dolly an Carol were great to work with. Down to earth an really nice . Seeing this brings back fond memories. Jt smith
@@blythespirit4077 Hi Blythe, I might have met them . We rehearsed for 2 weeks . There were so many people involved. Writers, choreographers an directors . I know they were probably there but don't remember personally meeting them. All of Carol's support staff from the Carol Burnett show were there . I remember meeting Ken an Mitzi Welch. The writers . Everyone involved were amazing! We all had jobs to do. It felt like one big family. Where everyone respected each others talent . Looking back it was a lot of fun . I was a dancer plus we were in the comedy skits with Dolly an Carol. Dolly an Carol are so nice. How you see them on TV is how they are in real life . Down to earth real people. The other Carol Burnett special I did was Sills an Burnett at the Met. Then yrs later with Dolly in Nashville. It was a long time ago but happy to answer anyone's questions. If my memory doesn't fail me. Lol.
Jonathan Smith Thank you, Jonathan. You had some amazing experiences. Could you let me know where you live now? You can always message me on messenger. It’s so nice to read your perspective - and you were right there! My facebook messenger is Blythe Bieging. Thanks again!
@@blythespirit4077 Hi Blythe,. Not sure if you got my reply to your question. Currently I live on in Las Vegas. Spend the summer at the lake in Wisconsin. When I did Dolly an Carol I lived in NYC. Some of the dancers were from Los Angeles the rest from NYC . Forgot the name of the hotel we stayed at. But it was really nice. The grand ole opry hotel? Thanks for your questions it was one of the high points in my life. Thanks, jt smith
Jonathan Smith Thank you Jonathan! i received your reply today. I hope you are enjoying Las Vegas. I have fond memories of Vegas. But, it has changed so quickly!
The skit is so warm and funny at the same time, and Dolly and Carol have such great chemistry!! Both of them are still performing, so I say it's time for a reunion of these two grand ladies!!!
Here’s an article about little Lewis - Lewis Phillips -- as a successful bluegrass musician today. twestival.fm/lewis-phillips-bluegrass/ In fact, you can see some clips of the adult Lewis here on RU-vid. So again, when this pandemic lockdown is over (hopefully soon!), time for a reunion of those three!
Just found out this info: "Dolly and Carol in Nashville, a CBS television special from Feb. 14, 1979, teamed Dolly Parton with comedian Carol Burnett for a night of knee-slappers and country music. The crossover moment was filmed at the Grand Ole Opry and featured more than just the comedic stylings of The Carol Burnett Show and the familiar hits of a mainstream country star."
My wife and I were just yesterday watching an episode of The Carol Burnett Show from March of 78 and the audience asked her if there was anyone she wanted to collaborate with to do a special and she said she was trying to get in touch with Dolly and here they are less than a year later! It was better than we could have imagined! The crazy thing is we came upon this video at random from the RU-vid algorithm.
There are these singing and talent shows on TV, but they're not fun (for me anyway) to watch, cuz there's generally no instrumental music and the vocals sound the same (to me) from singer to singer
Dolly can do anything,, she sings like a songbird she can act ,,as well as any female actress out there but shes so down to earth ,, God Bless Her ❤❤🎶🎵🎶👠📿💅💄💋💃💃💃
I don't even subscribe to current TV. I was born in 1961 and growing up was a heavy TV watcher, but most of TV now is junk. I only watch the NBC Nightly News on you tube and all the "Got Talent" shows from America and around the world. I constantly re-watch old shows from the 50s and 60s like Lucy & Dick Van Dyke.
I grew up with Carol Burnett and Dolly! How I miss these kinds of shows! It took me back watching Carol on TV with my brother, Mom and Dad--such beautiful nostalgia and memories, thank you so very much for posting this. They are the real deal!
I'm 54 and I feel the same way. I was born too late... Although I grew up watching The Carol Burnett Show and Dolly Parton perform. Love love love them.
@@grandmapaula04 I'm your age. From Europe (Holland). Now I can watch these shows we never saw on television. I love to watch the Dean Martin shows too. Over and over....
Kelsey Crider I’m a child of the 70s and said the same thing. From the music now a days I’m starting to really appreciate the music of my time because it just seems to get worse and worse as time went by.
That little boy is all grown up now, with a family of his own. Sang and played for many years with his mother's family. The Lewis family, look them up, be a nice suprise.
@@byronp2311 yeah the first few Eunice skits I saw back in the day I even assumed the setting was in Texas just because of the accent. I had a West Texas mama and an East Texas daddy ( 2 different accents) and I grew up on the South Texas border (yet another accent). In Austin where I live now all roads converge so you can hear every dialect and regional speech.
@@dontaylor7315 While I grew up in Tulsa, I actually had your basic mid-western accent because I was addicted to TV and that was standard. Been in Austin since '72 and suspect I've developed some sort of Texas accent by this point.
I bet it's more like they specifically invited a LOT of professionals to attend and specifically asked those invitees to bring instruments and join in. After all if you're playing Nashville why not take advantage of all that available talent? Sure made for a good show.
Carol Burnett is a comic genius who is one of the few to share the same stage as Dolly Parton and not be completely upstaged (Dolly never tries to do that, it's just her natural star power). During this same era, she also appeared with opera superstar Beverly Sills as well. She can truly put herself in any situation and make it funny.
Carol's co-star Vicki Lawrence and Dolly played dueling grannies on the Hannah Montana show for a few seasons. Their rivalry over who was more important to Miley (and Elvis) made some great scripts.
Love this and had never seen it before. Two great talents not to mention all the great Nashville musicians in the audience. One of them is the superb player Mark on banjo who used to play at Opryland.
Never saw this..i use to watch carol..she's hilarious. I enjoyed watching this..shows that you can miss some of this best stuff..just slow life down and look around..love both these beautiful ladies. They're the best.
I'm SO SO GLAD THIS WAS ON ,I LOVE CAROL BERNET AND DOLLY PARDON, I'VE WATCHED THEM FOR YEARS. I JUST TURNED 76 YRS OLD, AND LOVE THIS KIND OF INTERTAINS ENT.
@@Katatawnic I'll take your point, but I don't think Young Sheldon is exactly a 'sitcom'. TBBT, sure. But Young Sheldon is treading in newer waters and is closer to, well, something newer. Malcom in the Middle and The Goldbergs, to start with.
@@byronp2311 "Sitcom" is short for "situational comedy." So, unless "Young Sheldon" is not a comedy show that has self-containing episodes (ongoing character and story development not included), then it is indeed a sitcom. There are many _styles_ of sitcoms, yes, but it is still a sitcom.
