I've never met Dolly Parton, but from everything I've seen she strikes me as one of the most loving souls to ever come out of America. There are lessons we all can learn from her about showing friendliness and compassion toward your fellow human beings. We need more role models like her.
Dolly is most definitely an earth angel. I believe she’s here to be an example. Like Jesus was (& is), Dolly is Mary. Surviving financial poverty and fame with a beautiful generous attitude intact is quite extraordinary. She’s incorruptible. 🌈 🦋🤍 God bless Dolly.
I met her once in a Nashville studio and she was friendly. I love her theme park and I thank her for all she's generously donated back to the community, but honestly I never found her singing all that good. Yup I just said that. We had to do a lot to make her sound good on the record
We were married in Gatlinburg decades ago and still remember the Dolly statue when we got our marriage license there at the courthouse. Thanks for the video, Adam.
I use to work for a crew and we mowed and landscaped her Tennessee Mountain Home. It's a really cool place on the Inside. Very beautiful. She has an old 50s style gas station, Church along with a small cabin home. Tons of people working on property. Towards the top Is the stone pebble trails. Very beautiful and peaceful place. We also mowed her parents home. Big beautiful white house with a barn.
@@Mariekr49 On the property Inside of the gate. It's not a "real" church In the sense that people show up on Wednesday and Sundays. It's just for show I guess Is what you would say. It's a very beautiful property.
Her parents' home sits back on that "main" road beyond the gate, right? I've never been inside, but seen the property on Google Maps, it appears the famous house sits way back in, on the right if you're driving in toward it. And there's another side road to some kind of property, so is that where the church is?
@@summer-c7i No. Her parents home Is In a completely different spot lol. Behind the huge wooden gate Is just Dolly Partons property with a ton of old buildings. You can look up her parents home online and see pictures of It. We also mowed It. On the front porch their was two owls and both of the eyes were actually cameras lol. It has a barn off to the side and It had some classic cars Inside of It. The last I heard she had sold It or something. We mowed both properties for a little over two years and she found someone else. Also as a side note with a little fun fact If you want to call It that but on Dolly's property she had a guy whose only job was to walk the entire property and just change lightbulbs. That was his only job lol.
@@XxJustinxx88 I'm not referring to directly to behind the gate. I'm referring to way back in. I've already seen pictures and a video on the mountain home where Dolly is actually sitting on the front porch, interviewing her parents. Her uncle pretty much confirmed her Tennessee Mountain Home was in that same area in the Chicago Tribune from 1986. Did her parents have another home that you did maintenance on, or her current home with the red roof? Because unless she fixed up the mountain home, it wasn't big from what Dolly said. That was a big part of her story -- living in a small house with many siblings, dirt poor. The pictures confirm that her iconic mountain home was small, unless again, she fixed it up.
It's so peaceful. Seems like a million miles from the hussle of the tourist areas. When I saw the fence, I thought how nice it would be to have The Majestic peek over it for us. :)
Dolly is one of the remaining country music artists that has stuck to her roots and been proud of where she came from and her family. Perfect example is that there is a show at Dollywood that actually has a few members of her family performing in it. She is one of the greats and shows what country music is all about. Now a days new country music artists are getting more and more about the money and fame and less about what country music is all about.
Dolly Parton is probably the most vocal about her family and how she lived, than any other country singer out there. Just the fact that she had more exposure to the public, with her own tv shows, specials, as well as getting into other business ventures like Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. Her life has been an open book, save for the fact that she keeps her married life quiet. Dolly has the most unique child like singing voice, that hasn’t ever been duplicated. Her songwriting skills seem to rise high above many other songwriters. I’ve never heard a song of hers that I didn’t like. As someone who sings I can appreciate all that goes into what Dolly has done. If it were ever possible, I would love to spend an afternoon with Dolly, singing and talking, and enjoy a good old fashion meal….it couldn’t get any better than that. 🦋
Digital Craze. Agree! She's a beautiful soul. She has never forgotten her roots. National Treasure. Loretta Lynn as well. Adam has done a great job on this episode. Only been to Gatlinburg once. I have so much to see and anxious to go back in the area next year.
“I will always love you” popped on my radio this morning and I wondered if you were doing anything Dolly related. Can’t think of anyone more beautiful inside and out than Dolly Parton!
As a kid, we were in Pigeon Forge when Dolly broke the ground on what has now become the music theatre area there. She is a legend. When I get back there, I’ll need to take a gander at exploring that stuff myself
There's only one Dolly which is probably good. Could we hanle more than one? With her talent , beauty ,kindness and sense of humor ,she is a gift to us all.
When Adam zooms in I can definitely see Dollys house…super cool. And the family gravestones were quite impressive that all the family members are buried together. Amazing.
Great video, Adam. Thanks for sharing. I had the pleasure of meeting Dolly a couple of years ago, and she was just as friendly, upbeat and hospitable as you’d imagine she would be. I was part of a group of five people involved with the production of one of her concerts, and she welcomed us individually and by our first names (which she requested from her staff in advance), just to make us feel welcome. Classy lady, through and through
Great video. My Dolly encounter was back in '83 when I was lucky to sit on the front row at the Shrine Auditorium in LA for a performance of Dolly and Kenny Rogers singing their hit "Islands in the Stream". This was for a taping of a TV variety show and I am embarrassed to admit at that time I was there more to see the band Berlin (it was the 80s). But I was mesmerized by Dolly and Kenny performing. Dolly is a treasure and a legend! Thanks for the video!
Living legend indeed, and at 76 years young and forever gorgeous, I'll have what she's having, heheh! Oh man after seeing this awesome vlog who else wants to run off to a mountain cabin right now, sip on some cocoa and marshmallows and watch Dolly Parton Christmas specials all day? 🥰
Great vid, Adam. Really enjoyed the jail house door usage for storm grates section. Thanks for your research and effort to find the Parton’s homestead. What a lovely property. You are right to listen for animals. My daughter lives in the mountains and the bears, turkey and deer pop out of the woods all the time. Dolly is a hero. One of the things I respect her for is founding the Imagination Library (IL). The IL has given millions of children in qualified areas a free book each month from infancy until 5 years of age to promote literacy (her own father could not read or write) and to foster a love of reading and spending time as a family reading. Her father said her accomplishment with Imagination Library is what he was most proud of. It has grown from TN to the U.S. and beyond. Dolly has never forgotten her roots like so many celebrities have. She might not be everyone’s cup of tea and she is real as real can be. Her songwriting is off the chain! Thanks again, Adam! Cannot wait to see your next vid!
Dolly in a true star Adam, she is always so humble and kind, i remember seeing her interviewed about all the books she has dedicated to children round the world, wonderful vlog, Thankyou, really enjoyed that
I read that this year, Dolly's company will start picking up the total fees, and tuition for all employees who pursue higher education, ***no matter whether they are full-time, part-time, or seasonal. I think that says a lot about Dolly. Thanks, Adam... a great video... 👏🤠👏
We my band and late sister Melanie (The Showcase Band) had the pleasure of playing music in her parade in 90's with Dolly at the front of course. She was wonderful to work with and I'll always cherish those memories and pictures. Then later on we had the pleasure of being friends and playing music with her brother Randy at the then Randy Parton Theatre in Roanoke NC. Part of my bandmates back then was his show band during his time at the theatre. Good times and Randy was a very fabulous person that visited our recording studio as was Dolly. We miss Randy and all his fun stories and making sure we had him some Parkers BBQ ready. We will always love Dolly!
Such a legend. She literally built an empire coming from such humble beginnings. She’s so inspirational. Her work ethic, talent, passion, and conviction to who being true to herself sets her apart from any other country musician and musicians in general. More importantly it seems she has a heart of a gold. For that, I have an immense amount of respect❤ she is before my time, but I have a friend who is obsessed with her so I’ve learned more about her through my friend. I did see 9-5 and loved her in it! she was amazing. Wish she did more movies!
As so many, I really enjoyed this one; I think you honored Dolly quite well....I like that you went on a less easy road to get there; I believe it adds to my thought about how it actually was a back woods area; such an amazing story, what an extraordinary woman, and you made homage to her beautifully...thank you
We are here in Gatlinburg today and I have literally been talking about your past vlogs from this area- so thank you!! And THIS was awesome! Thank u for all the incredible info u give us. It’s definitely making this trip even more enjoyable….❤
I have loved Dolly since the 1970s and was able to see her in concert in the early 80s performing with Kenny Rogers. My fav concert I've ever seen. Kenny sang for an hr and then they sang their 3 hits together and then Dolly sang for an hr. It was amazing to see.Ty for showing me all of these places Adam. I've seen a lot of videos of Dollywood but not these places you show us here. She is definately a living legend 🦋
This was wonderfu!! Loved it!! Her Dad had to be hard worker to be able to take care of their big family!! Beautiful country!! We do have bears that wander through our backyard, I am always watchful when I walk our dog!! Thanks Adam!!
Sevierville is practically in my Aunt's backyard. She lives in Maryville. So do two of my cousins. Have been here many times in Fall. Very quaint and beautiful town. Dolly's definitely a legend in those parts.
Lol. When you said the mural was placed there back in 2022, I had to check my calendar because I had just woken up… and make sure that I didn’t sleep for a year in some sort of coma state. Lol.
We visited Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge a few years ago. The thing I remember most is the delicious bbq we had at Delauders Bbq! Sometimes I wish I could go back, just to eat there again!
This means a lot to me to see you back on the road again you in Gatlinburg fits like a ball and glove I can tell already how happier you are back up in the mountains. This makes you a certified country Boy. You or to love it. I love living in North Georgia myself I love everything about it I also love Gatlinburg too matter of fact when I die I'm going to get my ashes spread over the Blue ridge mountains. I really love the program today I hope tomorrow will be even better thanks for sharing
Dolly is such a caring, giving, & talented woman truly a beautiful person! 😍 Love the area & a few years back really enjoyed my family vacation there, thx 4 the interesting history tour 😀
WOW loved this vlog, thanks for sharing. Was lucky to see her a few years back now she came to Wales she is one amazing singer/songwriter but above that a Lady; would love to see her perform again 💖
Good morning ☕️ Happy Saturday. Great vlog Adam. Glad we joined you. Great way 2 kick off the weekend. Dolly Parton is an incredible person. Quite the history there. Beautiful cemetery. Thank you for everything you do & all your hard work. Safe travels on your adventures. God is your pilot. 💕🙏🏈😎
Thank u Adam. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing this video on Dolly Parton and her old stomping grounds. The drive to her place was very peaceful but treacherous. The gravesite visits on her family was also nicely done. God bless Dolly and your fine work on your videos. 🙏🏻❤️🦋🦉🐻
And I have to add, how beautiful the scenery is there. Fall is in full swing there all the fall colors are so pretty. Love all the animal commentary too, I think they know you’re a friend. 😊
Really enjoyed this vlog, can’t wait to go. My son moved to Tennessee 2 years ago and haven’t been there yet. I also like the shadow wave you do, I remember the one you did with your friend off the Mark Twain so happy you’ve done it again. Have a great trip.
Hi Adam! Safe travels as usual, but I'm very happy for you! Your videos across the country are very inspiring to me. Dolly Parton is a cool celebrity, and the Sevierville/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is beautiful. Wishing you good vibes from Colorado!
Thanks Adam, thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I met Dolly really early in her career when I was too young and dumb to appreciate it. I believe she was signing album covers at a Globe or Kmart store. She was there with one or two others. I must’ve been with my older sister because I wasn’t in to Dolly’s kind of music at that time in my life but I sure am now. I just think the world of her.
Once again another great video. Dolly is such an inspiration to a lot of people. It's so awesome that you filmed some history of her. Also the area is beautiful. We need to go there some day. Enjoy your day making a new video and be safe. Steve and Sandee
love love love this video ...Dollyʻs songs are deep, shes an exceptional entertainer with a great sense of humor, i love her tv specials ... she won me over decades ago with "Hard Candy Christmas" in her movie Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. canʻt wait to walk through the replica of her TN home in person, it's a highlight of mine this December, and her tour bus! i recall you taking us on the ride to her actual home in the mountains the first time, you got out on foot but got spooked by sounds in the woodlines and raced back to your van through the passenger door ... but this time was both exhilirating and humbling, passing the old structures of a bygone era, peeking through the tall wooden fence, your aerial pics, and your backstories of her album added reverence to this video ... thanks for taking us along Adam.
HEY ATW... I'LL ADMIT WHEN I FIRST STARTED WATCHING TODAY'S EPISODE, I was saying "Great! Dolly Parton today!" After a few minutes, I was hooked on the information you presented. I have already watched twice and I am impressed! Thanks ATW. The way you built up the anticipation to see the mountain home has advanced your documentation filmaking ability to an all new pinnacle.
We were in the area in June 2021! What a complete madhouse! Traffic in both the roads and sidewalks! We spent the night in Gatlinburg, and once parked at the hotel, we didn't dare move it. So nice to see the area calm. Our granddaughter loved looking out the window at all the thousands of attractions that dotted the whole highway!
I help Dolly off of a doom buggy haunted mansion Disneyland in the early eighties quite a moment she is being inducted into rock hall of fame Saturday great video Adam thanks😊😊
Adam once again you knocked it out of the park! Great blog brother! I'm not sure but I'd think piece's of the old house made up what looks like a picnic pavilion!
OMG Thank You. I Remember Because Of Pink. My Mom Took Us There When We Lived In Tennessee. I Am So Grateful. I Love Dolly. She Is One Of My Favorites 💜 #QueenOfTheTwelveTribes👑
Thanks Adam you covered a lot and it was very nice to see the areas you showed also I learned a lot of interesting things about Dolly Parton and it was nice to learn so much about such a wonderful person now I wanted to tell you about Dolly Parton there was a time when she was at a recording studio and Kenny Rogers was also at that same recording studio he was trying to record the song Island in the stream and said it just wasn’t sounding right and he found out Dolly Parton was there and asked her to sing the song with him it became a duet and then became one of the biggest hits thanks again for shedding some light on Dolly now with that being said peace ☮️ love ❤️ and happiness to you Adam and I’ll see you on the next vlog adventure wherever it takes you peace ☮️ out ✌️
Ive watched alot of videos of folks coming up there, and I thought you were gonna be the FIRST to actually get back to the cabin lol. I was excited. I really wish someone could get back there to see the original cabin.
Surprised i missed you yesterday. I was all over that area. I'm glad you are going to the lesser tourist areas too. I spend most of my time fishing in that river near the courthouse
Wow thank you for this! Talk about happenstance! My business partner his mother is a Parton she's left this earth at the moment but they came to Michigan and his grandfather owns a great shop here in Michigan they still have family in Gatlinburg. #PartonandPreble
ADAM, about 45 years ago myself my mom and my sister Portland 2 miles from her mountain home. The farmer sold off 12 1/2 acres and four flat acres and we bought it. Back then times were hard for us so we kept it for a couple years end up selling it back to the farmer does the electric that ran to it there were many many, many snakes everywhere, it was beautiful but we actually didn’t know how long it would take for us to build there. Sorry we sold it because it would’ve been worth a lot of money now anyway, great video brought back some memories of going up those Mountain roads.
