Stay up to date with the latest information surrounding Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and take a dive into potential quarterback options the Dolphins can consider while Tagovailoa is in concussion protocol.
Tua Tagovailoa is not currently considering retirement from the NFL following the concussion he suffered on Thursday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.
Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle are currently the only quarterbacks on the Dolphins roster. Will Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel look to add another quarterback prior to the Dolphins Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks?
Could the Dolphins trade for a quarterback? We’re being told that Sam Howell of the Seahawks would be the team’s top target in the event Tagovailoa was placed on IR.
NFL free-agent quarterbacks currently include: Ryan Tannehill, CJ Beathard, Brian Hoyer and Blaine Gabbert - to name a few. While the likes of Tyler Huntley and Mike White are currently on the Ravens and Bills practice squads.
Stay tuned to the Fins Up Network as we get set for the Miami Dolphins Week 3 battle against the Seattle Seahawks!

With the complexity of the McDaniel offense, it would make sense to go with a guy already familiar with the offense. Bethard gets the nod in that sense. The OL still sucks so a QB has to run for his life, Huntley gets the vote there.

Looks like the team is planning on making sure we have a QB that can escape a lack of protection, because Huntley was the answer!
@drewstar412
@drewstar412 21 день назад
Ben, I won't kid you. Nor, do I see how some Fins fans are gaga over these choices. It's not difficult. 1) the QB has to be a scheme fit. 2) The Oline is below average, so it has to be the right QB, 3) That QB has to have some kind of familiarity with the playbook, because losses pile up very quickly. TBH, I'd hate, for this, to be, another 2017 year. Sign a Jay Cutler, to produce the same season record that basically, what they would have gotten, without Cutler. One of the stupidest signings ever. Hated it!

That is the million dollar question, is Tua going to miss a couple of weeks or a couple of months? You are 100% correct Ben until that question gets answered or at least somewhat answered the Organization is somewhat handcuffed with their options. The team also needs to see how Skyler responds against Seattle. I would love for us to have drafted Howell back in 22 as he fell to the 5th round. Howell is a gunslinger, tough as nails and he can escape outside of the pocket. This should be another interesting week to say the least. 🐬👍
@FinsUpNetwork

@@chadhickes8563 I hated these “wait and see” weeks a couple years ago when Tua was in protocol. And guess what? We’re right back at it! Last year gave me a lot of hope that Tua had the whole concussion thing figured out, but one hit is all it takes. I just watched Caleb Williams do the same thing Tua did on Thursday and Caleb wasn’t phased. He kept his head up and didn’t make himself vulnerable - things I wish Tua had in his bag at this point
@chadhickes8563
@chadhickes8563 21 день назад
@@FinsUpNetwork As bad as Bryce Young has played I saw him get hit 10 times harder than Tua and he wasn’t phased either and Bryce is very tiny. The sympathy train has gone as far as I’m concerned because he knows better. He took a bad game and compounded it into a possible wasted season. This was 100% on Tua and 100% avoidable. McDaniel called the worst game of his career last Thursday night. He got thoroughly outcoached and embarrassed on primetime National TV. McDaniel better start producing results.
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 20 дней назад
@@chadhickes8563 it was 100% that - a very bad game that got transformed into an outright terrible moment in the franchise's history. @drewstar412
@drewstar412 21 день назад
Ben, the HUGE issue with this, and why I say, the QB has to be a scheme fit, is, because the obvious. Is Coach McDaniel going to knock of the tomfoolery, and run heavy? You see what Coach Jim Harbaugh is doing with the Chargers? Granted, it's been vs the Raiders and Panthers, but the point is, "run run run". Which, that is what McDaniel should be doing. Eichenberg is a road grader. He is in the wrong system. We got all these RBs, and NOT much of an oline to block with. McDaniel has to majorly adjust his scheme/totally leave things out, that just can't be done with whomever the QB is..
@Bless863
@Bless863 21 день назад
Grier gambled on the Oline and lost. Grier failed to protect 3 of his most expensive investments this offseason. Tua, Hill, and Waddle all need an OLine to be successful. Tua has to have time to throw and the WRs need a QB to throw to them. Not investing in the Oline was stupid at best.
@FinsUpNetwork
@FinsUpNetwork 20 дней назад
And making matters worse is the fact that this isn't a new issue. Our OL has been suspect at best ever since we've had Tua. We know he has a history with injuries and these are the five guys we're trusting to protect that asset when he comes back from yet another concussion??? Feels crazy

@drewstar412
@drewstar412 21 день назад
It's because 1) Grier, does not value Oline that highly. 2) Coach McDaniel's system, because it requires a fast, accurate release from the QB, that, essentially the QB & WRs, can make up, for a poor Oline. All they got to do, is block "X" number of seconds". It reminds me of the old "Run n Shoot" offense. Iit's all "high light reel" stuff. It's not sustainable, because eventually defenses can scheme to mess up the timing. When the timing is disrupted, so is the QB will be off. We are seeing it this year, where the Fins ball goes to a spot, where, the WRs should be, and they are not there, either a) they ran the wrong route, or b) they adjusted due to the defender, and they are not in a position to make a play on the ball. As you know VERY VERY few QBs can, "make the Oline better than what it really is". Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, and Kurt Warner come to mind. Kurt Warner took the Cardinals to a Super Bowl, with a below average to poor Oline. And remember he had great weapons at WR with A Boldin & L Fitzgerald. And a stud RB. Still, all it took, was to meet a team like the Steelers, who knew, how to disrupt the timing. The rest is history. Fins Up!

Benny, CJ Beathard, would be in play/the guy. Don't get it twisted, I am not jumping over the moon nor going to hype him up. He would just be there to be here. I don't expect him, to get us wins. I really don't know any QBs, that would fit McDaniel's system. I'd say, Jack Plummer, QB (Panthers), who is a rookie. He had some good drives in the preseason with the Panthers team. I think, he makes the Panthers 53-man roster. Ben, heck, I'd honestly call up Gavin Hardison, QB (UTEP). At least he knows the system. I'd rather have a QB who is cheap, and know the system, as opposed, to a vet, who does not know the system, cost more, and, again, the Fins literally end up with the same record. I'd like Sam Howell, but he will cost too much. I was watching another podcast, and some were saying, trade for Howell or Hendon Hookier. LOL...why? The price is too high. Everyone is tradable, it just depends on the price. Both QBs are on their team's long term future plans. If I were Seattle and Detroit, I'd be asking for nothing less than a 2nd round pick and a starter/player of worth. They want something that will put them over the top. Fins Up!
