Not to be confused with the better-known Dom who made EDGE OF TIME, this band were the original band to use this three letter name, with the subtlety that these used capitals (in that their name was derived from the acronym of a psychedelic drug of the time).
Formed in Stuttgart in 1968, they originated as: Eberhard Häger (guitar, vocals), Wolfgang Häger (drums), Werner Wolf (bass), and eventually went on to record a remarkable single in 1972. The eponymous A-Side was distinctly freaky guitar led Krautrock with a spacey edge akin to Necronomicon, whereas the B-Side flipped-out even more, reminding me of the deranged work-outs of UFO on their classic FLYING. A good length for a single, their 11'33" legacy showed promise of an excellent album, yet despite playing support to acts like Guru Guru and Nektar, they decided to call it a day in Autumn 1974.
The band apparently reformed in 1979 with the addition of Arne Thörmer (guitar) and Stefan Haag (keyboards) under the new name Hägar, playing blues-rock with German lyrics. They self produced one LP called TOTERNST in 1982.
