I humbly suggest Opemsuo and his entourage should pay visit to all his enclaves outside the Ashanti Region every year for the ordinary people to know they are part of Asanteman. A huge number of people in Berekum and others never knew their root was from Asanteman.

On point. All these hullabaloo has shared more light on things most of us didn't know. We can't advise Otumfour, but will help the coming generation if he pays visits to all the necessary towns that falls under the Asanteman council.

We may have our differences within the Akan ethnic groups but we can never ever run away from ourselves or identities. Ghanaians have to come to the realization that the Asantes, Bono, Akyem, Kwahu, Akwapim, Assin and Fante are all one of the same ethnic groups who fall within the Akan under the umbrella of the Golden Stool. For as long as Otumfuo reigns over the Golden Stool, any Akan royal leadership from various regions have to his leadership.

The issue of height disadvantage was not typically among the Asante people alone. It was a common hereditary issue among Akans. Let’s remember that the now Bono area was part of Asante. Intermarriage from the tall tribes from the north was an orchestrated plan by elders to address the midget population issue and completely eliminate that. Bono, Akyem, Asante, Akwamu, and Denkyera all embraced this concept of tribal intermarriage. So for the Bono people to make or use this tribal sensible intermarriage an insult against Asante is unnecessary and unfortunate. The Moshi, Grusi, Dagomba, Fulani, and Madingo men allowed to marry our great great great grandmothers was amongst all and sundry.

Who exactly are the Ashantis? The majority of people in the Ashanti region are not Ashantis; the archetypal Asante is short. What we have now is the product of intermarriages with Dagomba, Mossi, and others in an effort to heighten their stature, which truncate their lineage as an Ashanti. If we are tracing the origins of the several settlements in the Ashanti region, we may find out that most of them migrated from Akwamu, Denkyira, Akyem, Bono etc. The vast majority of communities in the Ashanti region were not founded by Ashantis. The Aduana people came from Akwamu. Residents of Asafo, Tepa, Bantama, Adum, Kumawu, Barekese, Agogo, and other towns in Ashanti region are Akwamus, not Ashantis. In the same way, the remnants of Dormaa founded Assumegya. They are not Ashantis; they are Dormaa. Akomadan was built by one of Bonohene's hunters in the medieval Bono kingdom. His name was Nana Ankoma, and Akomadan translates as 'Ankoma's hunting lodge' (Arhin, 1979). People in Nkawie, Abrepo, and Abuakwa are Bono, not Ashantis. They are Wenchi immigrants who fled after the Ashantis attacked Wenchi suddenly in 1713. Berekum are a heterogeneous people from Bono, Asokore, Denkyira, and other areas with the majority coming from Bono. A cottage called Abi was already occupied when the Asokore faction came, and the different factions arrived in successive waves. The Ahafos are not Ashantis; they are entirely from somewhere. Ashanti has obscured their true identity. Duayaw Nkwanta for instance are Bono people who migrated from Bono Manso. The Yamfo people moved from Kukurantumi in 1722, led by Adu Baa, and are descended from Okyenhene Osagyefo Ofori Panyin l. The Ntotoroso people migrated from Akyem, led by Nana Kofi Gyedu. Originally, they are all Akyems, not Ashantis. Kukuom people migrated from Dominase near Ayamfuri in Denkyira, led by Nana Kofi Boa. Kenyasi No.1 people migrated from Denkyira Mereyem near Dunkwa-on- Offin, led by Nana Apea Mensah Kumta. Hwidiem people came from Denkyira Ntomu in the Central region led by Nana Kwaku Apia Dwaa and his sister. Sankore people came from Dwokwaa in Denkyira under the leadership of Nana Ase Kyerekye (Anane Agyei, 2012). These are all Denkyiras, not Ashantis. The Ashanti kingdom collapsed in 1900 and the Ashanti confederacy which is a reference point for Otumfour was created in 31st January, 1935 and it was purely for administrative purposes by the British. Prior to that, some of the states that joined were independent and had the right to extricate themselves when necessary. That's why people who saw no relevance of that confederacy left. Therefore it is empirical to note that the original Ashantis are the short people who migrated from Mossi land passed through Bonomanso to established Adanse. REFERENCES: Arhin, Kwame. The world is like that. Archetypal oo no archetypal oo, the world's people go thru changes. It's a social fact. Not only have the Ashantis gone thru changes, Mr. Scholar Researcher, every group has too. Also, don't you think the "archetypal" Ashanti was too intelligent for their time to device plans, even that neolithic times, to think so strategically to empower themselves even more through intermarriages... If your assertion is true, then we just doff our hearts to them for being very smart. The Ashantis are a unique bunch, I see.

Tanoso, just like all the towns in the Tano-Subin area, used to belong to Techiman. By right of conquest, Techimanhene lost those lands to Asante in a war. Nothing can change that.
