Excellent in both characters: meditative and brilliant in these two Sonatas Domenico Scarlatti uses counterpoint to enhance singing and imitation for dance.
The double Piano-Spinet version highlights the expressive characteristics of the respective keyboards: in the dynamic touch for the Piano and in the contrast between the homogeneous sound of the harmonious plucked strings and the Lute effect of the Spinet.
In “Tempo di ballo” Silvano Giuseppe Bernasconi composes a cheerful motif in that baroque style in the major key and the relative minor conclusing in major.
