DOMi & JD Beck are a breath of fresh air! Two virtuosos...playing for sheer joy! Such a young audience with genuine appreciation (I am marveling along with you all at the skill and dexterity.)
I watched Domi and JD Beck on Austin City Limits this past Saturday night and I was absolutely blown away!!! I immediately began looking for more of their music while they were performing on Austin City Limits. Domi and JD Beck are a real ass group that have the talents of so many legendary Jazz musicians. They have this drive to create something that is something you have always wanted to hear but never heard like they can do!!! This is my kind of Dope ass music!!! Rob Approved...
The simple reason I believe these two are the best at what they do is that they have mastered the art of communication. They feel, speak, and prompt one another without words, leaving us, the listener, speechless. They are universal in ways that make smiles wide. Auditory love.
those dizzying tripplets and dissonant synths, the stacking of the keys and, the bussy articulation of the drumms makes it sound liike more than two people are playing. i love this band
Sick, now I can actually enjoy what I couldn't THROUGH AN ENTIRE CROWD OF MFRS HOLDING UP PHONES WITH BOTH FUCKING ARMS ALL NIGHT, goddamn. Thank you for this!
@@DE-GEN-ART Guess what big drop, the person you called the wet blanket got all the likes, maybe you and the free promoters are the assholes. Something to consider, no?
Thank goodness for these two and other musicians like them - I wouldn't listen to music at all if this music genre did not exist. (While many of us have changed our music tastes over time, and as we've grown, I have NEVER liked much of the pop music [less so now, more than ever], country, "classic rock", etc. If Lead Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and the like never existed, I would not miss that ☆%^*@! at all.) Thank you Domi, JD Beck, Alpha Mist, Yusef Dayes, etc.!!!
Those are all amazing artists, but nothing wrong with having an expanded musical palette. These two themselves just recently did a record grab bag breakdown and Led Zeppelin was highly praised by them, amongst some other diverse record picks. I second the Yusef Dayes comment, though. Cannot get enough of his newest single Rust.
Finally, Canterbury Jazz is finally considered hip, which I always have thought it as. Nothing new but very good. Les Paul once said, "People listen with their ears." DOMi reminds me of the vocalist and keyboard/bass player/harmonica player of SBB in terms of skills. She will very obviously go many places. To qualify the Canterbury scene comment, go look up on youtube Hatfield and the North a bit of a supergroup in that scene then (there were many groups across UK and Europe). The first two albums are incredible and remind me of this and there's even some live footage of the band.
The Canterbury scene was fabulous, I still go back and listen to SOFT MACHINE, GONG, both versions, God bless David Allen and Pierre Moerlen, GENTLE GIANT, HATFIELD AND THE NORTH, check out some of these great artists!
I love these guys!! They remind me of modern-day Peanuts' characters IRL, playing that same style of music, but have been influenced by artists that don't exist the Peanuts universe 😂🤯
lol - this is why it's LIVE, JD!! Even the "mistakes" sound great and help the mood. Also, with that bass slide sound DOMi made - just sayin, maybe a Fournier cover in the future? Something Albert?
I can not believe these guys are opening up for Polyphia later in the year WTF lol just rabbit holed finding out about them because they're opening for polyphia
