@@Crad4DRC at the end he says his fantasies and then stops himself and says that it was his codependency speaking again but those are 2 different things, you can want companionship but still struggle with codependency but it doesn’t mean that every time you think about a fantasy or companionship that it’s a bad thing bc again it stems from our natural instinct to bond and socialize

@@Crad4DRC it’s like craving chips often but knowing they’re bad for you if over consumed, it doesn’t mean you have to shame yourself for wanting them or eating them bc that’s also negative but being able to realize the issues of eating them often and prioritizing them over your health is separate from just wanting it, he’s already conscious about it and he doesn’t need to beat himself over every normal thing surrounding it that’s also unhealthy, it’s about moderation

I just meant that he needs to meet his codependency with compassion and understanding and to humanize it instead of treat it like the enemy and to enter a toxic everything is better alone kind of mindset bc it’s okay to still have urges to reach out and socialize and stuff but obviously everything in moderation and anyone can overcome it if they viewed it with compassion rather than hatred bc isolating yourself makes you even more lonely and increases your human desire to “need” ppl by a million

I don’t know much about this interviewer or where he comes from, but the way he was able to get someone as complex as Dom to be so comfortable and upfront like this, really speaks to how great of a person he is, bc Dom is usually very stand-offish and jaded during a lot of his interviews.

sorry i'm 3 months late to this comment, but that's Zane Lowe and he is ABSOLUTELY like that. he creates this safe space for every artist he interviews, and truly is able to read their passions and their comfortability and is able to bounce off of that when asking questions. his interviews are always conversations or therapy sessions and it's so refreshing to see that. he's the best

Everyone says how good he looks and how he seems happy. I dont get that from him. Watching him I see sadness and angst. The vulnerability is unmatched but I cant help but feel like hes tired of wearing a mask and tired of being what people need him to be. Tired of people always wanting something from him. If music was his therapy, what does it feel like when therapy becomes a job ? How does it feel when the people who love you now need you and depend on you. It cant be easy. I hope that he finds to recovery.

As someone with a troubled past similar to him - this IS happiness. Being comfortable in front of the camera, being able to be vulnerable and talk to another person sober. He’s confident and happier and has overcome so much. Let’s give him that credit. It’s impossible to be 100% happy, especially with wounds like his. The sadness will always be there. But we’re human and we’re supposed to have all these emotions. To not let these emotions control us, but embrace it and work with it IS happiness. Dom is incredibly human, honest and accepting about who he his. I see that as a goal more people should strive for, instead of being emotionless robots .

It is terrible to think people still believe someone's social class is lower than their own because the person is of a different ethnic background or looks a certain way. This interview shows how good of a person Dom is, how money and status have not changed him, and what matters most is love.

That motel segment 😢 I hope he can start to heal further and start moving forward from his trauma. You can see the pain in his eyes and you could sense it when he was with his mom in the beginning. He deserves happiness.

References to politics & violence in general, "ride til the wheels fall off", so interesting that a lot of Dom's work is mirrored in really what he thinks about whether it's conscious for him or not as it's brought up in natural conversation. The growth and maturity is awesome to witness. Love the stylized homage to Naples and especially little pockets of his life that reveal so many cause and effects.

watching this is like a therapy to me. Everyday this past few years, all i'm receiving was terrible things and news, finding dom and watching vids of him and listening to his music is like a breath of fresh air, like finally having a peace and rest after all the exhaustion and pain, like being a soldier finally found their nesting home.
