... I was so close to Dominic, Sting and The band yesterday in Göteborg- Sweden (I'm from Colombia)... wonderfull to vibrate to The rhytm of your guitar, you are The best Dominic!! Gracias de corazòn....
Almost memorized lyrics, not without prompts from Sting and Josh Groban. Love this one. Pat revved up to warp speed an ooh rtly after beginning, full throttle after that! Very cool, mesmerizing to me, thanks. Lady Elisabeth!
@Ed Green of course he isn't and that's one of the reasons I like him so much because he didn't just try and recreate Jacos sound. Pino pushed fretless in his own way
Exactamente, brutal. La mitad del tema trató de que se le ocurriera algo para improvisar y luego cambia la guitarra por una que no calza para nada con el sonido que ofrece Miller y le tuvieron que cambiar la tonalidad . He visto mejores cosas de él
Shape of my heart is a piece of music. This piece of music is beautiful, a good idea, catchy, I wish I wrote that, but is no song. With Sting´s voice became a hit, but still a beautiful bit of music that mostly repeats itself. Even a beast like Pat Metheny couldn´t really get over this fact. Uncomfortable to watch
Well actually no, no offense but the piece is harmonically very easy, Metheny improvises over thousand of key changes, over this piece there are no many possibilities to improvise. Metheny can easily improvise on a piece more difficult than this and he does.
@@ldelta4140 I guess you didn’t fully understand my comment. I meant exactly that: the song is too simple, so it’s a good pop piece with Sting’s voice, but becomes dull being just instrumental, it’s repetitive and quite poor harmonically, so Pat’s playing is just trying to make the best of it, but still quite dull, in my opinion. So no offense at all, we actually agree
@@carlospilanIt's funny because it's a fact that Miller wrote the riff to Shape of my heart as a warm-up exercise, then Sting heard him played it and insisted to write a song on top of it. So yeah, technically it was intended to be more like a musical phrase than a complete song with defined structure.
We're hearing a board tape though, so that's why the nylon string is so loud, it has no stage volume of it's own, wheras Pino's bass is probably quite loud and metheny is loud as a mutherfucker so his hollowbody didn't need much in the house!
Hard to solo over Dominic , I would have switched to playing chords to give Pat room to expand on the theme. it’s like two solos at once. Too easy to clash notes, tricky. Must have been a spontaneous jam so to speak. An interesting attempt.
Chanson que j’apprécie beaucoup en temps normal.. mais là Metheny ne sais pas quoi en faire, ce n’est pas son niveau, il ne peut pas jouer sur 10 notes répétitives, et quand il se lâche c’est enfin du bonheur !!
I saw the comments and can only say, that [perhaps..] Pat was not motivated, or 'into' this compilation of harmonies......can happen to the 'best' performers......anyone buy this theory?
You completely deserve such a mediocre version if you don't play even once the beautiful lines of Sting's vocals to start soloing with and beyond it... I'm really surprised by Metheny's fail here...
