I saw Dom 2 weeks ago in Köln in Germany. Enjoyed a beautiful concert with a few numbers from his latest album Vagabond. Loved it a lot! So while Sting was a schoolteacher who turned into a musician, Dom as a musician would turn into a schoolteacher. 😁 That makes the circle round. Dom, keep playing music 🎸👌
I really love this guy, his music, his attitude, his way of living and thinking! He has it both: freedom as well as devotion. Great interview without the voice of the interviewer, it matches to his pureness and the unplayed notes he "plays". And thanks to H+K to not do too much of advertising. It wouldn't feel good with such an honest human being.
Dominic is an amazing player, obviously. When I first heard him on Sting's Dream of rhe Blue Turtle album, I saw Dom play. I was blown away by the real intricate melodies he brought to the table. A fan ever since. I have done my best to learn a few of his tunes and they are my favorites pieces of music. Regarding this interview. He responses were good. I am just not into a flowing monotone of music with having to read your questions. Nope, didn't make it for me in that regard. I get it, trying to be different. I'd rather hear a conversation with two humans. LOL
Like the guy for his use of cliches in speech. Music liberates the tongue far more than words. Glad he drove his own band - working with Sting would be dicey, he's a weirdo. The things Miller says are what any Pro says - having heard it from people 60 years ago, the same words. Humility, directness, maximum love for the music itself. Go find Howard Roberts, George Van Eps, John Williams, Narciso Ypes, Lenny Breau. Listen to them speak on musicianship. John Hammond (jnr) taught me the best advice: Go and find out.
You are a gentleman, Mr. Miller. I respect your high standards. You are a great teacher and role model through your daily communications and behaviors with a wide variety of people. Thank you for your honest and lively interviews.
